Finished my 3rd visit to RCF Renton Crossfit and was going to celebrate with some Mexican food because, well, I didn’t die and I didn’t put in all that work just to get a salad on my cheat day(I guess the day before was a cheat day too, but that’s beside the point). Plus, it’s been almost a month since I’ve had Mexican food, and being from Los Angeles – where I’d have a steady rotation of every ethnic dish available to me, I was started to get a little stir crazy. I ordered a carne asada torta and a huarache, and here’s how the food broke down: Torta: The bread was excellent; I mean this is some of the best bread I’ve had on a torta, ever(is EVAR still a thing? Cause if it is, sub that in). Soft yet pliant on the inside while being toasted just ever so slightly on the outside to be crunchy but not«too crusty»(if that makes sense), the bread left me impressed. However, I’d have to agree with the other reviews about the asada and say that didn’t bowl me over. Also, true that there seemed to be very little filing, but I surmise that it’s because the bread was so large. Huarache: I ordered this with chicken and must say it was a pretty solid representation of good huarache. Nice and large, it was the size of the sole for a shoe that would fit Big Foot. I loved the cactus strips, which was a nice touch because of the texture it added. Given that I enjoyed the food, why am I not rating this place higher? As it is, I’m being pretty generous, but the prices are pretty high for what you’re getting, and it’s not like they are in a high rent district. I would advise them to drop the prices and, more importantly, light up their signs! The parking lot could use a little lighting as well because it was dark and just generally uninviting. A solid 2.5 stars, but I rounded it up to 3 because I’m still an easy grader and I have a soft spot for small business owners. I’ll be back in a few months though because that’s how long I think I can hold out from having a Mexican food fix, and hopefully there will be some changes. Either way, this review will be updated/supplemented.

I wanted to like this place and maybe came on the wrong day… But it shouldn’t take 25 minutes to get a torta when there are only 3 people in the restaurant(including yourself and the 2 others have already gotten their food). I got the torta loca or whatever the #1 is called and it was decent, nothing spectacular. I may give this spot another shot one of these days and try something else on the menu though. The torta’s were quite large though.

If you are in the mood for Mexico city style food, this is the place to go to. I ordered the huarache, its the second time I had it, and it was pretty tasty, the tortilla is handmade, thing crispy goodness topped with a thin layer of sauce, refried beans, meat, cheese, shredded lettuce and nopal(cactus). Its HUGE by the way, so its perfect for sharing. The husband got the crazy torta and lots of different meats in it, pretty tasty as well, but too much for me. If I have that, I would have to take a whole bottle of tums. The service was good, the lady at the cashier was nice and friendly. The cook as well, she brought out the food to us. The counter offers utensils, but she went ahead and grabbed some for us on her way to our table. The food doesn’t come fast though, so its not convenient if you are in a hurry. I saw a few people order to go, and they seemed inpatient. But overall I would come back here again. :)

Disgusting, that’s all what I can tell about this place I ordered an over priced torta loca, crazy torta and it gave me diarrhea for two days, place is empty you can guess why. Place smells bad, call back to discuss it with the manager and she told me it was the chorizo the use and they were going to replace it, again terrible food.

I’LLNEVERGOBACK! !! … This place is close to home so I thought I’d try it out on the way home from work.. couldn’t hurt right? WRONG! First off, I ordered the Cubana Torta which took 30 minutes! Maybe not so bad in a busy restaurant(had they actually had any customers) but I ordered it To-Go! … as if that’s not bad enough, I take my sandwich home… about to devour it cause I’m starved.. after just one bite into this soggy mess, I took inside to see why it tastes like a mixture of cat food and vomit.. And this thing is piled with none other than SLICED Hotdogs, canned chile, an extremely over cooked(probably microwaved) piece of pork that was too tough to chew, a slice of thin lunch meat ham, avocado, AND tofu on top. … If the description alone is enough to turn your stomach.. imagine the foul taste I received when I tried it. . Then. … oh yes. … it gets worse… So then I called them to give feedback and the girl who answered is also the same one who took my order and made the thing. I think she’s the daughter of the owners and speaks English perfectly. I explained very nicely that I did NOT like the sandwich-it was awful… that I was NOT asking for s refund(even though I should have), but that I wanted to let them know how incredibly terrible it was for customer service purposes only. She responds with«what’s your point! !» … to my shock I explained it’s not a personal attack. .(I just think it’s a little unfair to charge over $ 10 for a sandwich) and that they should know. .she then talks over me and starts listing all the ingredients in the sandwich. … as if I don’t already know! And keeps repeating«well that’s YOUR opinion»… so rude! This was the Kent location off Military rd.

For some reason this little part of Federal way always made me suspect this restaurant would be a hole in the wall but it’s not. It ended up making it and I finally visited it. Inside it’s small but not crowded. There is a huge variety of Mexican Snadwiches you can choose from. Just pick one and you will not be disappointed. TRUST. If you know nothing about Hispanic food and need some help choosing the names are translated into English. Quite thoughtful, even a simple quesadilla with Tinga(Juicy shredded chicken) is phenomenal&AFFORDABLETOO. :) if you’re craving Mexican just check it out, you’ll be surprised… In a good way hopefully. They have 2 other locations too which is a Good sign

They promised something different, and indeed it was. I got the La Crazy Torta and it was indeed a whole load of tasty meats with fresh bread. The green sauce they brought with it was also very good. Don’t know quite how to judge it as it was the first time I’d had anything like that.

These sandwiches are amazing. I come here every time I travel to the south end to see my Mom — and I mean every time. If you like Mexican-style sandwiches, you have to at least try the sandwiches they offer at Tortas Locas! :)

This is the same chain that is in Tacoma — huge portions but loooong wait time. This location is pretty dark and dingy…

I have been looking for tortas all over Seattle and I think the Tortas Locas chain does a pretty good job. The new location in Kent has the cook who used to work at a couple other local torta restaurants. I know I will be back!
