When I was a kid and I lived in Kentfield, my dad and I would come to Kin Wah pretty much every Saturday before catching a movie. We’d split some pork potstickers, and I’d get a large platter of either chicken chow mein or chicken fried rice. It was our father/son tradition. That was 20 years ago. I haven’t dined at the restaurant and/or ordered take-out from here until just the other day. First of all, I’m happy to report that Kin Wah is still in business. And secondly, the food is just as delicious as I remember. Menu highlights for me are still the potstickers, the chicken fried rice, the chow mein, and the won ton soup. Be prepared to get A LOT of food(for very little money). Kin Wah has never skimped out on their portions. Their fried rice alone will feed a family of 4. Keep in mind, Kin Wah is really more of a take-out place than a dine-in spot. Yes, they do have tables and the like inside the restaurant. However, it’s a pretty no-frills kind of spot. Not really a white table cloth experience. But if you’re on the hunt for solid, affordable Chinese food in Marin, Kin Wah is about as good as they come. It’s nice to see them still thriving and surviving here in Marin. Check them out!

Cant go wong with the lunch specials… Ive tried most of the items but my favorite is the general tsu chicken. You can get this fried or sautéed but the fatboy in me loves it fried. Comes with rice or chow mein and sweet and sour soup for 7 $

Not good and frankly pretty scary. I’ve driven past countless times and never wanted to go in but I recently tried it at a friend’s and the beef was grey, the chicken smelled off and they didn’t even give us soy sauce for the pot stickers which I was too scared to try. Not recommended. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because my friend said the staff was extremely nice to him.

It has been more than 10 years since I last came here for lunch. Very good selections and very tasty. During lunch hour they have lots of take out customers and students from college of marin. Price is reasonable and service is a-ok.

I was looking for Marin Asian restaurants on Unilocal and thought I’d check the action at Kin Wah. I eat here on special occasions — mainly when I want to feel like I’m eating the cheapest rice plate in Chinatown but don’t want to drive there. So with that in mind I say this is a REAL Chinese restaurant. Very ethnic, very beat, perfect for a college area place to eat. But of course you can’t expect the food to be any better than a place on Washington, W of Grant. The décor isn’t any better than that either.

Oh boy… I just finished eating there a good half hour ago and I might die. In fact, chances are I will die from eating there. I’m dying RIGHTNOW. I don’t have much time left and I want to tell my girlfriend to feed my dog. Before I do, I must say, don’t do it folks. Just turn and walk away. Well, I can feel my heart stopping. Gotta run! RIP Me.

This is NOT one of the«better Chinese restaurants in Marin» as put by other reviewer… I dined in for lunch special. Typical lunch special you find anywhere at Chinese place. But my meal was quite bland, and not«huge Cheesecake Factory» portions as other reviewer stated. It was eerie and creepy inside. No atmosphere music so you can hear everyone else smacking and chomping away, or their conversation(so quiet it makes you wanna whisper… weird). There was crap ALL in the corners up against the wall… so obviously not very clean. My teapot had DUST on it. There is WAY better Chinese places in Marin… just get out and look.

When I went to College of Marin, my friends and I would go here for lunch once a week almost every week. The lunch specials are all in the $ 5 to $ 7 price range, and with Cheesecake Factory-style portions and good quality food, it’s a much better deal than the overly greasy hot plate food you would normally get for that kind of money. The place has an overall relaxed, friendly atmosphere, and the staff works pretty quickly too. It’s a great restaurant considering the nearby alternatives.

Flavors are good. Food is well prepared and well seasoned. Nothing groundbreaking, but good stuff.

One of the better Chinese places in Marin(not saying much). This is an old-school mom & pop shop near COM. I get take out from here about once a week and have yet to be disappointed. The portions are big. The veggies are usually crisp and fresh. Spicy dishes aren’t so hot as to be inedible. Service for take out is always fast. My only beef is that I have to ask for soy sauce and they never seem to give me enough.

I have been going to Kin Wah since I was 8 years old. My family would order take out from here once a week, order way too much, and thrive on leftovers for a while. I was so protective over the leftovers, that when friends came over after school, I would only allow them a few small pieces of lemon chicken, and everyone knew that the potstickers were totally off limits. The place is run by a very nice lady and her husband, and the food is amazing. However, I must admit I haven’t tried everything on the menu. My family ordered the same thing every time(and still does when we are all together every so often) from Kin Wah including: –Potstickers(an absolute must — I consider myself a potsticker expert, and these are my favorite of anywhere) –Lemon chicken(battered/friend, not too lemony, but delicious) –Broccoli beef(amazing sauce for the rice) –Chicken chow mein –Green beans(ask for no garlic if it’s too much) It’s not the most amazing atmosphere, but call ahead(still have the number memorized: 415457‑2900) and get some great take-out! Don’t forget the potstickers!

Portions were big and moderately priced. They use styrofoam for takeout and do not have any kind of dumplings or brown rice. This restaurant is stuck in the past. High 2/low 3
