Honestly disregard any negative comments about this place. They have the best hot dogs in town, along with such a friendly staff. I love the atmosphere of this small business.

My family and I decided to stop by for some ice cream after a day at the Park with the kids and there were only 2 places I saw online in Kernersville that had homemade ice cream. The staff was great! Very friendly place. I checked the health grade and it was 96. Which isn’t bad but with all the extra credits they allow these days there’s really not much of a reason why it shouldn’t be 100 or a little closer at least. What got our attention was a roach crawling across the wall. We didn’t say anything and wouldn’t bring attention to it but we decided at that point we will not be going back for hot dogs in the future. I’m not scared of bugs and the occasional bug doesn’t bother me but roaches are a different story. Especially if it’s out and about during the daylight hours. It must be a regular there so I’ll just skip it. The ice cream was good FWIW.

Mickeys is your typical hamburger and hot dog joint that’s packed at lunch and struggles during the rest of the day. This is the same Mickeys of the famed Walkertown location that was famous for their tenderloin biscuits. I do mean famous! They still have them and they are still larger than your hand and fried to a tender deliciousness that they always have been! The lunch and dinner menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, bologna sandwiches, and any other counter ordering joints you can think of are there for the offering. It’s all pretty decent for what it is, except for their fries which are above par! There’s a ice cream stand there that has fabulous ice cream and comes in generous scoops! I just can’t figure out why it’s not packed at breakfast like it used to be back in the day? Trust me and try the tenderloin biscuit, it’s well worth the stop!

These people couldnt do one thing right if they had to. Every time I would go here something was wrong. They always forget something. Something is made wrong. The list goes on. Their attitude is extremely crappy. The owner is rude, unprofessional, not to mention completely clueless. How or why they stay in business I have no idea. Bad food, bad service, and bad all around. Avoid.

Despicable place, no time to learn the rules of being in business should not be in business. If you don’t have time to learn all the rules you should stay at home and not open. If a Veteran enters your place you can figure he is too old to know better.

Food and service were bad when we visited, just like their bad attitude towards service animals. The employees there were only interested in turning tables over quickly and we felt rushed. We will not be back to this location.

First time eating here and the food is great. The prices are cheap and the portions are more than what you would expect. Definitely will be heading back here.

Stopped into Mickey’s for lunch on Saturday and I just beat the rush. I typically like places that have crowds because I can expect good grub. I ordered two hot dogs, one with chili, slaw, and mustard and the other with ketchup and mustard, and a side of fries to go. While I can’t remember the exact price, I know I felt like I got a deal when I was being rung up. The folks preparing the food were crazy busy slinging burgers, fries, ice cream, etc. My bag was handed to me in a reasonable amount of time. I checked it and saw that they had forgotten the fries. No big deal. I pointed out the mistake, got my fries and was on my way. When I sat down to eat, I realized that I got two dogs the same way(chili, slaw, & mustard). Again, not a huge deal. The dogs themselves were real tasty. I love when the chili, slaw, and mustard all blend so well that none of them really stand out. Flavor harmony, I guess. Fries were crispy which is always appreciated. I’ll definitely come back to Mickey’s when I’m in the mood for a hot dog or hamburger. I’d like to try the ice cream too.

As previous reviews have stated this is the location of the old Kernersville staple Bill and Leah’s. Mickeys bought the business and took over, as should be done with a new place. That being said that is where my 3 star rating comes from. It is just not as good as it once was. The food is still the same, but it is nowhere near as juicy and flavorful as it was before. It’s not a terrible place, but its hard to go into this place and not compare it to what it once was. If your looking for that local burger and fries or footlong hotdog I suggest going a little further to doss’s. They serve the same type of food with more flavor.

A classic Kernersville establishment longtime named Bill and Leah’s. Serves Hersey’s ice cream in biggest portions/price in the Triad. Footlong special with a classic pink dog and perfectly toasted bun is a great deal. I always get a footlong with just cheese where they put a very thick slide of American so you can’t see the dog. I recommend ordering their krinkle cut fries with extra seasoning. I get the mint chip cone or peanut butter cup milkshake. 4.5 stars

Mickey’s Café now operates in the location that was Bill and Leah’s for years. Nearly the same menu, same setup, except now they serve breakfast here, as well. I guess this is connected in some way with some of the folks that operated Mickey’s Country Kitchen in Walkertown for a number of years before closing several years ago. The Cheeseburger here is kind of on the smallish side with a thin patty, but the taste is very, very good — costs $ 2.70. The Hot Dog is only so-so, not nearly as good as the one Bill and Leah’s served. The chili is thick & meaty, but lacks any real taste, and the bun was over toasted, had some char marks. The FF are the ridged kind, but here they are cooked long enough to make then crisp, and they are well seasoned — goes for $ 1.40, large size for $ 1.75. The BBQ Sandwich was just ok, obviously this is a commercially purchased item for them, it is definitely not cooked in house, and not a sandwich I’d try again — costs $ 3.10. Good place for a quick burger, too bad about the hot dog.

I’d be rich if I just stood at the door and collected a dime from every customer who walks in.

It seems that the owners of Bill and Leah’s Ice Cream and Café have retired and sold the business to Mickeys. They still serve inexpensive, fabulous fast food meals and ice cream for a great price! Not much has changed, honestly I didn’t even notice the first couple of times I went in. Mickeys serves grilled(red) hot dogs with toasted buns, hamburgers, chicken tenders, barbecue, fries and many other fried fast food along with hand dipped ice cream. Breakfast is now available, while I’m not sure if this is new since the name change it’s pretty good! The ‘specials’ board hasn’t changed much if at all as they still feature the ‘Ron’ burger. When you order something here you do have to tell them what you want on it as they don’t just assume everyone wants ketchup, mustard, etc. on their burger or dog. The seating is at typical ‘fast food’ style metal framed tables and booths with laminate tops, ! CAUTION! take your time sliding into a booth as the metal of the frame under the table is just a wee little bit harder than flesh and bone. The dining supplies are self serve, Ketchup is in squeeze packs and is readily available. The place is pleasant and clean, Mickey’s can be very crowded but serves everyone quickly. Food orders are placed in one line, ice cream in another. I think that you can still call orders in and if so pick up your order at ice cream line. Cash is king at Mickey’s there is a debit machine if you run out. This is a locally run place with plenty of well mannered cheerful employees!
I would recommend Mickey’s to anyone wanting a great burger, hot dog, barbecue sandwich, etc and ice cream for a great price!
