I went here for breakfast today and enjoyed myself very much! This place is named after my elementary school principal; I was hoping to see him in here today, but will be back again to catch up! Anyways, the ladies working in there were very friendly, and welcoming got me and took my order right away! The place is tiny as there is a long strip of individual seats like a diner or a bar and then in the back there is more spacing and seating in the back. By the way they take cash ONLY; NO debit cards! The menu is pretty basic as they have mostly sandwiches for lunch and your typical breakfast platters for breakfast. They do close at 1:30pm daily which is unique so if you want to eat at here, make sure you go around early lunchtime if not earlier(they open at 7:30am). I am a HUGE breakfast person so I chose to get the Superintendent Special which was a 3 eggs omelet stuffed with anything I wanted in it. I chose to get it all the way as it was stuffed with sausage, bacon, ham, cheese, green peppers, and onions. It also came with hashbrowns, and toast. I also got the Principal’s Pancake which was a pancake literally as big as the plate itself! The omelet was delicious and hot as I had no complaints whatsoever! The hashbrowns were really crispy and hot as well! The toast was a little hard, but it didn’t stop me from scarfing it down with the jelly on top of it of course. The pancake was soft and fluffy, and really moist like a Duncan Hines’ cake. I was really stuffed after finishing it all! It came out to about $ 7 total which is a great price for that much food! I gave the waitress a really good tip as my cup barely made it to half way since she was always asking if I needed a refill. I will definitely be back here for lunch next time! I have heard hat the pimento cheese burgers and dogs are delicious! I have also heard that on Thursdays they have chicken and dumplings which is a favorite around the area. Definitely check this place out if you get the opportunity, just get there early; also one or two people would be enough to enough it; large groups aren’t really for this place as its so small. Go Fitz!!!

You can’t love this place. Is not about the food, the whole experience. Yes, is for locals, otherwise you feel like a stranger and you may not enjoy the food. No credit cards is part of the old fashion theme, maybe is a way to keep a little less crowded. The special of the day, cornbread Reuben sandwich was great!

Love it. Fast, friendly, and delicious. Surprisingly healthy and tasty. Atmosphere couldn’t be better — you feel like you’re around family. We make trips to K’ville just to eat here… and see others from far away. Worth the trip.(Try the chicken salad — yum!)

This appears to be quite the watering-hole for the local population, and the people who work here are very, very nice, but it’s not the most relaxing place to eat. The restaurant is basically one long, narrow counter. It’s crowded, cramped and noisy. And they only take cash… annoying. The food is okay, nothing to get really excited about, but sometimes you just want a burger, or a hot dog, or a pimento cheese sandwich, and if you happen to have cash and are lucky enough to score one of the limited lunch counter seats, this is a decent place to grab a quick lunch. As long as lunch is before 1:30pm. Because that’s when they close.

I dont know what all of the hype about this place is. I guess its just due to the fact that nearly every other restaurant in Kernersville is just so bad. This place is a hole in the wall on Main Street in Kernersville. They have no parking except for a lot close by. The place is tiny inside and their hours are weird. They close at 1:30pm. They only take cash. They had might as well take your order on a stone tablet. Talk about behind the times. Why dont you people get out of the dark ages and accept credit and debit cards like the rest of the world. I’ve ate here several times. I’m not impressed, and with all the weirdness its just not worth it. Typical diner food of sandwiches and fries. OK if you are in the area and have cash on a week day before 1:30pm, Otherwise not so much so.

Stopped into Fitz on Main on Friday for a late lunch. Good thing I wasn’t too late because they close at 1:30. Also, FYI, cash only. I walked in an saw that the long counter was packed. The woman at the counter volunteered to see if there were any seats, but, alas, there were not. I ordered my food to go, 2 hot dogs, all the way no onions, a side of fries and a Cheerwine. I sat in the entry and waited for my food. As a waited some seats opened up so I got my food and sat at the counter. The service was really good and the ladies took care of everyone. The hot dogs were not the hot pink/red kind typically found in this area. They were all beef. I really really liked the chili here. It was thick, not too watery, and had great flavor. The fries were seasoned with seasoning salt which I like, however they were a little undercooked, chewy not crispy. I’ll return to Fitz on Main in the future and try some of the other things on the menu.

Best burger I’ve had in the area. Try the Charlie Snow Burger! Awesome fried, great service. Old fashioned counter right across from the grill. My 8 year old gives two thumbs up. Service is awesome even when busy. Owner in an ex-principle from the area and really enjoys talking to kids about their current and future plans. One of my favorite places to eat!

Love at first sight, I LOVE Fitz! I came here with a friend after seeing it here on Unilocal.Be prepared for rubbing elbows, as the place as a whole is quite small, but I didn’t mind that. They have bar seating in the front and a few tables in the back. The menu was small, which is not a bad thing, and the prices were awesome for what you get. We decided on getting the Shammy breakfast, which includes: 2 eggs, bacon or sausage, a pancake, toast or biscuit, and hash browns or grits. All this for only $ 5.15!!! The meal was so big, they had to bring it in spurts, lol. We were in heaven, everything was SO good. We both are breakfast fanatics and we couldn’t be more happy with our meal. We’re dying to go back!

Will return to this delightful little diner that smacks of hometown comfort! Had a hot dog with chili, slaw, mustard and onions– delicious and the dog, itself, was outstanding, all beef quality. Daughter had a pimento dog(loved it) and we split some fries. Fries were your basic crinkle cut from frozen variety but, thankfully, these folks know how to deep fry their fries to perfection– nothing worse than soggy fries in my book. These fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside! Also, noticed that our hot dog buns were lightly toasted– kept the bc from getting soggy when covered with the chili and slaw. Details! Love this place! Space is tight but worth the wait and planning to get in while they are open! Keep an eye on your lunch hour– they are only open till 1:30. Cash only.

Step up to the counter; you nearly always get a seat. Small town lunch counter where regulars know each other by name. But no cliques — easy for a visitor to strike up a conversation. Ask Fitz about eating at Snow’s as a kid. Egg sandwiches and biscuits for breakfast. Burgers, sandwiches and salads for lunch. Daily specials are hit or miss. Pintos and cornbread are tops if you get them loaded up with peppers, onions, and tomatoes. Food is simple and dependable, but go for the people.

Went back this week and tried the chili dogs — and they are simply not that good. Chili is sweet with a strong tomato taste, and the buns were toasted with the edges burnt. Cheeseburger was excellent as always.

Very good cheeseburger(1/3lb) and chips. Friendly service. My co-worker got the special of the day(pot roast sandwich), and he said it was very good.
