I don’t know what happen but this time delivery was very off key. It took around 2.5 hours which I did not mind as it was raining but the food. The food was not up to par. Maybe they were so busy that they didn’t care about quality. Well pictures speaks louder then words. I have posted picture of the chicken teriyaki lunch combo. It taste exactly how it looks. Bland, dry and a waste of $ 7. I had ordered more food but it was so bad I junked it out before taking pictures.

Made the grave mistake of ordering from this place. A. Food is awful B. Dumplings have the thickest skin i have ever eaten. Fried dumplings are soggy. Dumpling meat tastes weird. C. Delivery person was rude Throwing out almost all the food. The only item worth having from this place is a canned soda!

I don’t know how their food is because I ordered take out and it took them over two hours and was still promising it’ll be here in 5 min. I had to cancel the order and eat some where else.

Delicious food! They always get the order right, the food is great even if it makes me feel a little bit nauseous afterwards, and delivery is very quick. The woman who takes orders is very harsh/nasty, but she gets the job done.

Please don’t eat here. This place is filthy. On one occasion as I was waiting for my meal I watched the cook fillet a raw piece of chicken, cook it, then place it back on the same cutting board. I felt really sorry for the person who probably had salmonella poisoning that night. For some reason, a few months later I decided to get a small pork fried rice from here, it’s just rice right? Bad idea. I found 2 pieces of what looked very very very much like mice droppings in the rice!!! I gag every time I think about it. Ugh discussing. This is from on the restaurant rating website: 1)Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas. 2) Filth flies or food/refuse/sewage-associated(FRSA) flies present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas. Filth flies include house flies, little house flies, blow flies, bottle flies and flesh flies. Food/refuse/sewage-associated flies include fruit flies, drain flies and Phorid flies. Even though they have an A rating the NYC rating system is points based, please don’t be fooled by these A ratings, take a deeper look on the website and the detailed violations.

Pretty meh. Your typical Chinese food. And this place is right next door to my house so whenever I feel unhealthy and want to experience death and guilt as an aftermath, I walk to this place and order the general tso chicken. Happy and very u healthy me gives it a solid 3 star!

WARNING: I and my fam are regular customers of these guys and usually their food is hot, on point, and delivers very quickly. Besides the attitudes the entire staff has, the food is good, especially the orange chicken… Until last night at around 11pm, thank God my bf working with food for years knew how to sense rotten chicken in 2 seconds. I was literally oblivious to it until he freaked about it. I noticed a sour, lemony, spicy, flavor and thought it was weird lol but didn’t put two and two together because I always order the same dish. I would’ve been up all night vomiting or in the hospital… We will never order from there again. P. s. How does it have an A rating? It looks like a dump in there. And there is NOAC! In the summer it was like a sauna.

The food may taste good & it may be cheaper than other places but their delivery guy is very rude !. He comes and rings my bell like crazy and then starts slamming the door. These type of behavior is horrible. when I asked him what’s wrong why is he knocking so loudly, He starts screaming at me. I called the store to let them know since it’s not the first time, and all i get is that she will talk to him. This was the third time it happens. WILLNOTORDERFROMTHEMAGAIN !

Funny thing is I’ve never been to the place, don’t know where it is BUT my boyfriend and I ordered from New Shanghai 2 – 3 times a week !!! We typically order their Sushi Regular, Sushi Deluxe, Chicken Katsu dinner or eel rolls and combos… ALL of them are very good. I guess we consistently order from here because of their service and quick delivery. The lady answering the phone is super nice and already knows what i want just by calling in ! ! Ill be sad when we move out soon but hope this business keeps growing !

Of all the Japanese restaurants I have tried around forest hills and Kew gardens i like this place the most. The portion is pretty big. I ordered the shrimp tempera for lunch last time and I got 8 pieces compared to most places that only give 2 or 3. The miso soup is pretty good too and it’s cheap! The walk here from my job was a pain in the ass so next time I’ll be ordering for delivery. Would recommend this place.

There is something charming about hearty, heavy, greasy(but not too greasy) American style Chinese food. My Beep and I were lounging around on a Friday night, when we decided to order some of her favorite Chinese take out. The delivery dude arrives in an awesome little scooter, that you can hear from around the corner. When I hear that two-stroke little motor rev up the street, my stomach responds with an appropriate growl. Dinner for two, drinks and sides, comes out to about $ 16-$ 20, depending on what you ordered. Despite the slight steepness of the price, you realize that the hours of food coma and lethargy were generously granted by the General Tso’s chicken, the shrimp and broccoli, and the gigantic spring roll. General Tso’s chicken, is perhaps, the staple item for most of our orders. This sweet, spicy fried chicken dish is best ordered with a side of white rice. The marriage between the two produces a symphony of joy on the taste-buds. The white rice balances out the sweeter orange sauce that embraces the chicken. The lack of consistency is one of the charms of the dish, one day it might be on the sweeter side, the next a more arousing spiciness comes through. My only gripe with the shrimp and broccoli is that there should be some more shrimp. Outside of that, the shrimp is well cooked, every bite is welcomed with that seafood snap of fresher seafood. The shrimp is plump, soft, and basically tastes the way shrimp should. It isn’t chewy and doesn’t taste like the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico after the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe. Kudos to that! Most of the meals include a nice gigantic spring roll, to say the least. I must admit, I am not crazy about the taste of the spring roll, BUT the reheat value is through the roof. I’m not sure what it is, but when I have the spring roll the next day with leftovers it’s just so damned good. On par with a Seattle breakfast(cold slice of leftover pizza). The spring roll isn’t as crunchy/crispy but it evolves into a fantastic burrito-esque mutant. Splash a little bit of soy sauce, use it as a substitute knife, shove in mouth… repeat. In terms of Chinese take out, as in most cases out here in New York, everything is better than anything in LA. Yes, New Shanghai. I am a fan of yours. I will continue to dabble and explore the other hidden gems on your menu. I think we’ll be good friends.

While I still think New Shanghai is good, comparing it to some other joints knocks it down a bit. I also think that there are now different owners so some of the food has changed a bit. My go to dish is the Chicken in Garlic sauce. It is spicy and loaded with veggies and hits the spot. The General Tsos seems to be missing chicken and is loaded with batter. Overall you can get some decent dishes here, but its nothing to rave about.

I’m giving this place 1 star because of the poor delivery service. Waited over an hour for my delivery and I am not even that far from this place. When I called up 45 minutes into my delivery, I was told that my food was on it’s way. When I called back up at 1 hour, 10 minutes into my delivery, I was told my food was on it’s way again. I could not even enjoy my food because it was cold by the time it got here. From what I did eat, there was nothing spectacular. House lo mein was abysmal. Hot and sour soup was decent, and the sweet and sour chicken was poorly made. The dough was soggy no chance I could even say was it crispy and hot. Do yourself a favor and just go to flushing if you want some real chinese food close by and not the 5 minute throw it in the wok version.

For a Sushi/Chinese takeout joint, New Shanghai really sets some standards. I’ve never eaten at the facility, but I enjoy their delivery service… from the time I place my order to the time the food arrives, the courtesy is ALWAYS there! The food is always arrives hot and fresh, and sushi is always on point. There hasn’t been a time where their food has disappointed me! For me, General Tso’s Chicken is a standard Chinese take-out item, and New Shanghai impresses me with the ever crispy chicken and perfect balance of sweet and spicy sauce. Other Chinese takeout places usually have soggy breaded chicken and overpowering sauces, so when I’m hankering for some General Tso’s, I’ve got this number on speed dial.

On my walk home I smelled it two blocks away. I turned around and found myself in this hole-in-the-wall restaurant. A staff member, who was eating at a table jumped up and was eager to help me. I wanted what he had because it smelled amazing — House Special Lo Mein — a bit of everything. It was very good and inexpensive. A good find in my neighborhood.

Great Chinese takeout. This place has excellent food at a cheap price. I believe they got an «A» health rating, but I dont recommend eating there– the atmosphere is «unimpressive» at best. Great food though– I’ve had chicken and broccoli; general tso chicken; sesame chicken; dumplings; soups; eggrolls; and pork fried rice. I enjoyed them all. I’d venture to say that this is the best Chinese takeout in the area.
