This restaurant is out of business. Already… epic fail. Would have been nice to know before we drove there. Would have been helpful if their website just kinda mentioned they were not open any more.

Very light with vegetarian choices, and over priced. I ordered a vegetable pasta and was assured it would include mushrooms and other fresh veggies. What arrived at our table included only three small vegetable morsels, squash perhaps but not really distinguishable, the pink to reddish sauce was bland, tasteless. I’ve had better pasta sauce out of grocery store jars. They are new and trying hard, but have a long way to go before I will return.

What a wonderful surprise to discover Exit 1 on Key Biscayne. FINALLY we have a restaurant on the island that has marvelous food, good service and a great atmosphere. Dinner was delicious — short rib yummy, chicken delicious. Service was most attentive — unusual on Key Biscayne! We’ll definitely be back. Thank you, jeremy Goldberg for coming to my island!

A great restaurant that is fit for foodies & special occasions. It has a pretty outdoor dining space. At first our party was enjoying each appetizer so much we didn’t want to share plates: but we soon realized that the flavors and textures were so special and unusual, we simply wanted to share our experiences. The heirloom beet salad was fantastic. The black grouper was delectable and perfectly grilled. The in-house smoked salmon with borsin panna cotta was mouth watering. The fish n’ chips were so good. They had a crispy texture that is hard to describe. We also enjoyed the benedict burger, osso bucco, organic chicken and short rib entrees. Their wine list is quite good and reasonably priced. Finding Exit One is a bit challenging. Just remember it’s in the condo complex on the left side of the road, just before you enter the preserve area at the end of the Key. Definitely check this one out.

The manager or owner(I’m not sure), Jeremy, was as friendly as can be and made it very clear what some of the must haves were and he also brought some small amuse boosh(tiny tasters between courses) on the house. This is a cutting edge eatery with some mind blowing food. 3 beet salad with powdered sesame oil. The chef uses gastro physics to make this unique and unusual Asian flavored powder. Usually when chefs resort to molecular gastronomy they are trying to out think the room. Not the case here, it raised a simple dish to new heights. Another highlight was the chicken shawarma. Traditionally chicken is a menu filler, it may have been the highlight of the meal here. The chicken was so moist and crisp on the outside, it could have passed for fried chicken. The veggies including carrots, potato, and cauliflower were cooked with mid eastern spices that resembled a mild Indian curry. Perfect. Beef short ribs are a must order. The wonderfully flaky, moist, and tender meat is very lean tasting, because the fat has rendered off. This is not a bad thing, since the meat is so dense with ‘cooked all day’ flavor. The meat is pressed into a rectangle and the waiter pours in the dark sauce for a wonderful presentation. Seriously though, who cares about the presentation when the food is so flavor packed and memorable. The cheese burger was off the charts. Chef Jon came out and told us how he slow cooks the bacon all day to where it takes on they consistency of pulled pork. He said he never had had the opportunity to serve a burger in his career, so he wanted to really make this one count. It was an honor to meet someone who is so passionate about what he puts on the plate. We drove here from Boca Raton. Those 1.5hrs were so worth it. Miami must venture to this place, I put exit one’s food up against almost any other in the country. I am not kidding.

I am a Brickell resident and Exit 1 is well worth a quick trip over to Key Biscayne. I recently met a few friends for dinner at the restaurant and we sampled much of the menu. The heirloom beet, house smoked salmon and fish n chips appetizers were excellent. I also enjoyed the benedict burger, osso bucco stroganoff, organic chicken and short rib entrees. I enjoyed each dish so much it was difficult to share with the rest of the table and save room for dessert. Great presentation and fantastic service topped off the meal. The restaurant has a relaxing ambiance and is a nice change of pace from Brickell. Five stars. Definitely check it out.

Tucked inside, off the side of a lobby in the Towers of Key Biscayne, Exit One is a real destination. You cannot go any further south without ending up in Cape Florida State Park then you would have to eat at Boaters Grill, which is always a dicey proposition, or a picnic under the light house. This restaurant occupies the old Pino’s space. Pino’s was a well loved restaurant on the Key and hopefully Exit One will easily step into its shoes. The new owners have lightened and brightened the space but otherwise have not made significant changes. Luckily they are also in the process of renovating the forlorn patio area. We have eaten there twice, once for a full meal and once for snacks at the bar. The snacks were prepared by their new chef from Azul Restaurant. Both the smoked salmon and steak tartar were excellent. Our full dinner, prepared under the old chef was also very good. And the wine list is full of interesting choices. The hosts are extremely gracious and the room is cozy and warm. Exit One is the only choice for truly fine dining on Key Biscayne.

Where to start? I’m an avid traveler who calls Miami home. One of my greatest joys is coming home to such a diverse city full of good food. My husband and I always make an effort to try the newest local spots when we come home. This week our choice was Exit One is Key Biscayne. After some research we found out that Exit One is the sophomore restaurant of Chef owners Jeremy and Paola Goldberg of Route 9 in Coral Gables. We have dined at Route 9 twice in the past and enjoyed our experience both times. Our journey to Exit One started with a long commute. You can find the restaurant at the very end of Key Biscayne, located just before the park. Finding Exit One can be a bit challenging, you definitely are best served using your smart phone maps feature. There are no signs to lead you to the restaurant, only a security guard to show you the way. Once inside its easy to understand why the Goldbergs chose this venue for their next enterprise. The lobby is clean and inviting and the concierge knows the way to the restaurant. Exit One is conspicuously labelled with 2 small signs that would be easily overlooked if you weren’t paying attention. The décor is modern and clean and the walls littered with vintage photos of the key. The ambiance is inviting and warm and we immediately felt at home. We had to wait for a table so we took a seat in the lounge and orders drinks. I had a dirty martini with homemade blue cheese olives(I think they sell them) and my husband tested the bartender with his favorite drink, an old fashioned. Both drinks were great, as expected from a Miami lounge. We started with duck confit and fois gras dumplings and quickly added an ahi tuna poke. Both were fantastic. The dumplings were crispy and fatty and paired with an exceptional ponzu that tasted like it had fois in it too. The poke was nothing short of Hawaiian. The tuna was fresh and the flavors were classily fresh and ripe. Both were so good that we ordered calamari just to try and were very happy with our selection. We moved onto main courses and selected the daily special(triple tail?) and my husband ordered a ribeye. We had never heard of triple tail and were pleasantly surprised by the entrée. It was served over a dill potato cake with a pan roasted and shiitake and button mushroom fricase. It was finished with a fig and port reduction that was exceptional. I would never have ordered it but it was highly recommended by the table next to us. My husband loved his steak, it was perfectly cooked and served with potatoes and a marrow reduction. The food was great, the service was exceptional(our server Jeff poured heavy glasses of wine), and the atmosphere was comfortable. We found ourselves sitting at our table for hours enjoying ourselves as people came and went. Unfortunately we didn’t make it to desert. We drank too much fabulous wine(by the way the wine menu is extensive) and ate too much food to leave room for desert. Overall we had a wonderful experience and will soon be back to try the newest nightly special. Kudos to the Goldbergs for another successful venture. Thanks for the great food!
