Maybe it’s because I’m from New York but we weren’t here for dinner the other night and I was very disappointed my girlfriend had a salad and she said was excellent and I gotta say they got a great garlic knots but I proceeded to have the stuffed meatball the meatball was okay but it wasn’t great I decided to have pasta with meat sauce again very disappointed expected better the pasta tasted like came out of a box and it wasn’t a whole lot of meat in the meat sauce I guess that’s what you get in Italian food in Florida it’s not like New York

Moved to Orlando from the Northeast 2 years ago. It took a 5 hour drive but I have finally found great Italian in FL. The marinara is marginal but everything else was fantastic.

So stopped at this place because it promised good Italian cuisine in the keys. Also this place, plays up to that it was featured on Diners/Driveins/Dives. They take this PR to a fault with pictures all over and episode playing on the TV in the dinning room. The waitress again plugged the show as she introduced herself and told us about menu. I intended to try the famed veal chop but she plugged it anyway, cause it was on the show.(i had to correct her on the proper way to say Guy Fieri’s name, she butchered it). Anyway here it goes: Veal chop was over cooked and the spinach underneath tasted bitter and soggy. The risotto and i hate to call it risotto was terrible(one note and thin in taste and texture). My Kids had gnocchi and said it was ok, but it wasn’t a great dinner in anyway for the 180 check. The red sauce and the garlic knots were good, but after that it was a sub par meal for the hype and cost. Sorry Guy you got it wrong

Great traditional Italian food served in generous portions at very reasonable prices. We had the oso busco and the veal chop and they were both great but the chop was the best I’ve ever had. It was breaded perfectly and the rich sauce complemented the spinach and risotto. This is a Key Largo treasure. Don’t miss it.

I just loved this place. We were very tired after long travel and did a Unilocal search and this place came up. I had no idea it was on TV. Authentic vibe, décor, and a classy atmosphere. Hostess was elegant and waiter was well mannered and old school and very polite. Rolls were amazing. Artichoke dip was pretty good. Salad was great. Eggplant Parmesan was perfect — the sauce wasn’t watery or bitter/sour/acidic. A lot of food. To top it off they had the Florida Keys kitsch done right: Key Lime Cheesecake. Amazing. Wish I took more pictures. My only criticism would be that the vegetarian options are limited. Thankfully the options we tasted were very good.

I’ve been a regular at Café Largo for about two months now since returning to the United States. Here’s the bottom line… this place is awesome! First, the hostesses and wait staff are quite friendly and attentive(I’ve had the young lady with the tats a few times as my server, she’s great!!). Second, the food is really fantastic! Over the last few weeks, I’ve tried the seafood risotto(it was a special), veal parmigiana, penne vodka, linguini & clams, lamb meatballs(also a special) and several desserts(including my favorite… the cannoli). Every dish I’ve tried has been really tasty and cooked perfectly. Plus, the presentation of each dish was real puuurty. Seriously folks… the food is consistently good, the ambiance is relaxed and friendly(as it should be in the FL Keys) and there’s a nice assortment of wine. Before writing this review, I did take a look at a few of Café Largo’s previous reviews… specifically those recently written by Monica and Jason. In my opinion, these reviews in particular do not seem accurate or fair. Regarding DDD… I’m sure it’s been good for business. Perhaps I’ll finally try the recommended dishes. I’m looking forward to enjoying my meal tonight(already made my reservation!!), along with my parents, at Café Largo.

Spectacular Italian food, a must eat. Do not leave the keys without stopping here. The Truffle Lobster Mac n Cheese, Sunday Gravy Pasta(can’t remember the exact name, and I don’t see it on the menu, but it’s was amazing) and the Veal Chop Cutlet Florentine is divine, this was featured in Guy Fieri’s show, and well deserved it was. It all paired great with the Ruffino Chiant wine offered for checking in with Unilocal

Terrible experience. Service was terrible and slow. Food was inedible — the garlic knots were dry; the tomatoes in the caprese were not fresh and the mozzarella was dry and seemed old; the pizza, which is misrepresented on the website as hand tossed, tasted like a frozen pizza; and the DDD recommended dish of veal picatta — well I am convinced the entire show is a now sham. There is no way that could possibly be a recommended dish by any respectable chef. To add insult to injury, all the plates are incredibly overpriced. $ 26 for a veal piccata? Not even in Italy. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

My girlfriend and I headed out to DiGiorogo’s Café on a Sunday night at 10(open till 11) to try their ‘famed’ Lobster Mac and cheese that was featured on Diner’s, Dive’s and Drive’s. We also ordered the ‘Margherita’ Pizza, well, at least their version of it, and a few drinks. Start by reviewing the service: We were greeted promptly by a less than enthusiastic hostess. Quickly sat us down in a virtually empty restaurant without saying more than two words to us. Our waitress was quick to greet us, pleasant and upbeat(the table bussers were also cordial). Appetizer: Margherita pizza. I’ll start off by saying, I know my pizza. I’m from the Northeast and have eaten numerous styles of pizza over the course of 40 years, including the traditional Margerhita version. The pizza I ordered was NOT a Margherita. Appearance wise, it looked like something you would get from 7 – 11 or any other comparable gas station that sells food. The dough was thick, the cheese and sauce were blended together and they chopped up the basil and COOKED it into the pizza. One cardinal rule when cooking with herbs; Apply DRY herbs PRIOR to cooking and apply FRESH herbs AFTER cooking. Despite not resembling a Margerhita pizza in any form or fashion, I dove in and took two bites but decided not to take a third. The cheese and sauce were bland, the crust was way to chewy and the cooked basil gave the pizza an overall burnt and bitter taste. A Margherita pizza is supposed to have 3 simple ingredients; fresh Mozzarella, tomatoes and FRESH basil, that should be separate from each other in terms of appearance and taste, and sit on a thin layer of dough. This pizza was the antithesis of what a Margherita Pizza should be despite branding itself as one. I could have easily overlooked the appearance if it tasted great. Hell, I would have overlooked the appearance if it tasted good. But it didn’t. It ranked as one of the worst pizza’s I’ve ever tasted. Never place basil on a pizza prior to cooking it, especially when you chop it up into very small pieces. Entrée: Lobster Mac & Cheese. Appearance wise it looked okay. It’s mac & cheese. It doesn’t need to look pretty. It just needs to taste good. But, like their pizza, it lacked in flavor. The lobster chunks were large and plentiful, I’ll give them that, but the noodles were slightly underdone and the cheese sauce was bland in flavor(lacked any resemblance of salt) and it was runny. And there was a single dollop of ricotta cheese on it. Strange. It just wasn’t good. Not sure what else to say about it other than I was highly disappointed after hearing how great it was was, and that if I had to have Lobster Mac, this was the place to get it. Perhaps I have highly evolved taste buds, or those who recommended this dish have none, but I don’t think that’s the case. Dessert: Crème Brulee It was actually good. Nice crust on top and the filling tasted as it should. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that it was served in a coffee cup rather than the traditional ramekin. The way they prepared it didn’t allow for the crust to be enjoyed with every bite of the crème. By the time you got near the bottom of the cup all of the crust was gone. If it had a wider mouth and shallower bowl this could have been avoided. The drinks: We had the local beer to start, the Islamorada Sandbar Sunday. It was pretty good. And since it was our last night in the keys we opted to get another drink and go for their signature Mojito. During our 4 days in the Keys we had multiple Mojito’s from multiple drinking and eating establishments, so we both were very familiar with what a Mojito should taste like. Well, their Mojito tasted more like a Gin & Tonic made with the lowest quality Gin possible. It was terrible. One of the worst alcoholic beverages I’ve ever consumed, if not the worst. The worst part about this experience is that THEYCHARGEDMETWICE for the same meal. After looking at my bank statement today, I have two charges from this establishment. One for $ 66 and one for $ 65. I’m not sure if it was accidental or if it was a scam they have going. Perhaps they do this in hopes the guest won’t notice or figure there’s not much a guest can do since they know they are tourists and are long gone after the charges go through. The pro’s: The waitress was jovial and kind throughout the service and she gladly took back the pizza after only two bites were taken and removed it from the tab. I like that they were open late. The cons: Charged me twice for service. Pizza was inedible. The Lobster mac was bland, runny and the noodles were slightly under cooked. Their Mojito was the worst alcoholic beverage I’ve ever tasted. Please don’t visit eating establishments just because they were featured on Diner’s, Drive’s and Dive’s. This will be the last time I ever visit a restaurant featured on that show. If you’re in the Keys, eat the local seafood instead of trying Italian food from a restaurant featured on TV.

Let me start by saying this is probably the best restaurant in the immediate area. We were a rather large group on a Saturday night and ate a variety of things. There were certain things I liked a lot and other things that I didn’t like at all. First off, the meatball appetizer is a must! That was probably the best item we had. The escargot was rather bland and way too creamy — I think it would be a huge upgrade if good olive oil and garlic were used in place of some of that cream. As of the hogfish I ordered with garlic sauce, it was mostly good but the fish was a bit tough. It would be a bit better if cooked slightly less. However, the garlic sauce was great and so was the sauteed spinach. Our waitress was very good and quite nice but we’ll probably try some other entrée items next time.

This place is legit. There was a line out the door and we rolled up without a reservation, so a wait was to be expected, but I always take it as a good sign when people are lining up to get in your place when there are so many other restaurant options around. I came in starving and left stuffed. The clams in vodka sauce app(special) was one of the best versions of this dish I’ve had. For dinner, we shared a pizza and pecan crusted pork chops(special) and thoroughly enjoyed both. Portion sizes are huge, though. Maybe that’s your thing, but I’m not into it. If we hadn’t have split the entrée, I would never have been able to eat two huge pork chops and it’s always awkward taking leftovers to go when you’re on vaca. That being said, everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing and I wish I could have tried it all. Online menu isn’t up to date, which lead to some disappointment on my behalf(no more clam pizza, guys. Travesty.)

Not a first rate Italian restaurant. Coming from Chicago I don’t expect that level necessarily, but this is off the mark. First off the service is very good. Nice greeting at the door and attentive table service. I’m not one to pass off on sides. The salads we had are iceberg with some romaine. Really no imagination here as salads everywhere have improved to the point that they are very good. My wife had the Seafood linguine and had the Diablo sauce instead of marinara. In Chicago, Diablo sauce is really spicy. Beware here it’s like eating real hot, hot wings. I could taste the Louisiana hot sauce flavor. Either the sauce itself or the preparation. Too hot to eat. So it was sent back and they were nice enough to replace with the marinara. They use bay scallops instead of the usual sea scallops. Calamari is cooked perfectly. Breading the shrimp though seems strange and really looked down on in normal Italian cooking for this dish. Marinara is bland. I had the filet medallions with garlic sauce. Filets were very tasty though slightly tough. The asparagus was like trying eat real twigs as the knife couldn’t even cut through. Garlic sauce is very good, and if you like garlic, there’s whole cloves here, a lot of whole cloves, there’s a lot to like here. Smashed potatoes are what they are. Use the garlic to improve them. Overall this place could try harder. As someone mentioned earlier, after 3 fish dinners, you’d like something different. This isn’t it.

We went here for dinner. We had made reservations, it took them several minutes to find our reservation. We ordered the escargot and the special Mac and cheese. The escargot wasn’t anything fabulous, I’ve had much better before, I wouldn’t order it again. The Mac and cheese with truffle oil was tasty and creamy. The dinning room was almost half way filled while placing our orders but quickly filled by the time we received our entrees. We also had a bottle of prosecco for the table. For mains we had the rack of lamb, fettuccine Alfredo, and veal piccata. My fettuccine was creamy, but lack flavor. My husband said his veal was uneventful. The lamb was the best dish; seasoned well and full of flavor. Our server appeared to be frazzled and overworked. She made several statements about«them» and how they hadn’t done X, Y, or Z. She wasn’t very warm, but as I said she could have been having a rough day, looked like she had to many tables. The bread arrived with the meal. My husband asked for a Sauvignon blanch but was told after about 10 minutes that the one he wanted was only available by the bottle, she never asked if he wanted to check the wine list again. We got a free glass of Chanti because we checked in with Unilocal,it was on the bill, we had to ask to have it removed. The coffee was weak… but the chocolate mousse cake was phenomenal! All in all I would probably give them another chance, but would have better expectations.

Delicious and so much food! We stopped in on a rainy evening and were seated right away. We started with the fried mozzarella — it could have been a little warmer in the center, but still yummy! I got the penne vodka and my husband ordered the penne rosa with chicken — similar dishes, but we agree the vodka dish was definitely better(the fried pancetta really made a difference). To go really nuts, we ordered a meatball too. Also delicious. We topped that off with the Pink Cello cocktail and the local wheat beer. We left Café Largo stuffed!!! I would definitely recommend stopping here for dinner.

Excellent food. Ordered Veal Marsala and was impressed with how well it mixed in with the sauce. The spaghetti complemented the meal very delicately with mushrooms. The sauce wasn’t heavy on the veal but light which is a plus! Spaghetti had a light oil touch and was on the better side than usual. The cappuccino and an Oreo cheesecake were great, delicious, and most importantly felt very fresh. The server Fiorella was nice and friendly. The service was surprisingly fast despite the busy New Year’s eve. Will definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Went back twice in our 5 day Key Largo stay… that’s how good this genuine Italian eatery is. Would highly recommend any of the veal entrees… the chicken scarpiarello was just insane, and chicken fettuccine was also excellent. Don’t worry about leaving this place hungry, the awesome Garlic rolls, dinner salads and giant entrees will leave you plenty full! Location and overall atmosphere deserve 4 stars, but excellent service and outstanding food suggest 5 stars.

A delicious meal with friendly service in a relaxing atmosphere. There are numerous drink and food specials, but the restaurant is still high-quality and definitely better than Olive Garden style restaurants. I ordered a glass of wine, salad, and beet gnocchi and was pleased with all-all for less than $ 20.

Fantastic parmesan crusted yellowtail with beurre blanc sweet pepper risotto. The fish was perfectly cooked… yay. Not always the case, for sure. The garlic knots were perfect… not too much garlic or oil. My hubby’s second time ordering the penne pasta with sausage. Obviously a hit with him. Thanks Amanda for the attentive service.

I had been staying right up the road walking distance for the last 3 years for the summer and this was the first time eating at this Italian restaurant. I should have tried this place years ago loving Italian cuisine. This is not your Chicago Italian, nor your New York Italian, this is Italian Italian. The Family migrated from Italy and opened this restaurant in 1968 and now the Son is running this fine dining establishment. Upon walking in we were greeted at by a beautiful young lady who took us to our table. I noticed everything was very clean and well decorated. Our server was Jessica and I have to say she is an asset to the establishment. Whenever we needed something she was there is a second like she had been watching us closely. Very attentive and knowledgeable on all menu items. I ordered Clams Casino for my appetizer and I must say it was very good. The Garlic Knots were great tasting along with the Caesar salad I ordered for an extra $ 2.99. For the main course I had the Veal Parmigiana which came with a side of pasta. We had a free glass of Chianti with the Unilocal check in offer which was a bonus. Over all the dining experience was great and the others in my party were all pleased with their meals. I will be back and recommend trying this place if you’re in the Key Largo Area.

Classic«red sauce» Italian style. Generous portions. My husband had a seafood linguini and I couldn’t believe how much seafood was on it; more seafood than pasta! It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the food and service both were excellent. We each had a special– I had Chicken with peppercorn crust, topped with tomatoes, mushrooms, asparagus and crab. Grandparents had filet tips and lamb chops. Everything was cooked perfectly medium for the grandparents and the dishes were tasty. The salads and vegetable sides were extremely fresh. Large portions so we took food home! They have a lengthy wine list to choose from and out waiter was perfectly attentive. We shared a cannoli and tiramisu for desert. It was my first time, but it is one of my grandparents go-to restaurants, so I am sharing this review on their behalf! A great restaurant in Key Largo.
