Yesterday we had lunch at this restaurant, we had been 4 years ago and came back. The fried yellow tail snapper is delicious, we had it with their signature potato salad and coleslaw. We waited for 10 minutes to be seated, it was 2.30 pm when we arrived; I guess there are certain hours when the waiting is longer but they have a cozy area set up for waiting outside. My husband and I shared a large fresh fish dish as main dish but also shared a New England clam chowder, a glass of wine and a piña colada and paid less than 60 dollars. There is no luxury in this place at all, it is an island style restaurant with amazing food!

We had come to Key Largo for a business retreat and our meeting planner was trying to find different locations around Key Largo for our group. I wish we had missed The Fish House Encore. As most restaurants are in the keys, the Fish House is not the most enchanting location just off US1. My expectations were not really that high for the Keys, I expected the usual fish dishes, beers, and sort of rustic dining. I am cool with that but I was not expecting how surly and offensive the staff were. My group felt like we were offending the staff from the moment we arrived. While there were some gems in the crowd, overall the staff was brash, rude, and quick to illustrate to guests that we were just there and the staff owned this location. I do not even remember the food I was so put off by the staff. I had one woman confront me two different times and then follow me to my table to make sure I understood her point. The manager supported her activities. Seems that my group was unable to stay out of her way while she tried to serve other tables. No matter where we stood, we were in this person’s way. In lieu of lingering and running up a $ 700 liquor bill post dinner, we left for another location that was happy to have our business. I understand these reviews should be about the food but based on the staff and service, I am not even able to remember what I had for dinner. I only remember being very happy to get out of that restaurant.

This was a very fun place. We sat in the back patio which was decorated for the holidays. Food and drinks were all very good. We started with a Rainbow Roll and then I had the Pan Sautéed Hogfish which was tasty. My husband had the Mahi Mahi Matecumbe which he also liked. The server was very efficient and fun. I really recommend getting a table on the patio. People we talked to complained that the tables were too close in the restaurant and didn’t like this place but we had no problem on the patio.

My friend was raving about this place. Passed by it originally on the way to Key West. They said we must have this on the way. The service was good. The food I was not impressed by. I had the spicy tuna roll to start off with. I did not like it. The waitress returned it and had it removed from the bill. My main entrée was the fish florentine, I wasn’t that impressed by it either. I expected it to have been better. Also, my piña colada was not up to par. The place had a fancy atmosphere but the tables were plastic in the back.

Great food! Amazing décor and nice ambiance. The staff however is by far the most rude group of individuals i have ever had serve me before.

Ok, I’m picky about my seafood, not much of a fan in general. However the wife and daughter wanted seafood and shrimp. We ended up at Encore and I have to say … DAMN, that was GREAT. I had the Jerked Snapper, which was one of the best meals I’ve had in years. I wife and daughter has different dishes with shrimp, etc. In the end, I had to fight them off from taking bites out of mine. This will be one of our favorite stops in the keys!

Food was below standard; for the price and in such a seafood rich area you would expect the seafood to be excellent. Unfortunately the food and service are sub-par; seafood didn’t have much flavor and was overcooked(shrimp and scallops). This was my second and last visit as the first visit was the same; i would recommend Mrs. Mac’s Kitchen as it is packed with locals, service is great and food is outstanding.

Very good food and service. Giant size portions. We tried the fried green tomato appetizer-very good. Key lime shrimp and scallop pasta-also good but a HUGE serving. The children had the Pesto Pasta and the Pasta Alfredo-also good but HUGE. **Please note: the address on Unilocal is incorrect. Use the address for the Fish House Restaurant next door.

Wow! What a wonderful experience! Fantastic service and best seafood on the Keys. Blackened shrimp was fresh and had a great kick. The Key Lime shrimp was also flavorful. And don’t forget to have their key lime pie. It is a great ending to a marvelous meal. Two thumbs up and a five star rating.

DELICIOUS! I was confused between this location and the one next door, but they are both the same only this one(more fancy) has a specialty selection of finely prepared fish. We had the Hemingway Fish, the mahi-mahi black and bleu style and the shrimp and grits. My fav was the mahi-mahi cause i like my food spicy! Perfect cream sauce with a kick! The Hemingway Fish had a buttery creamy & heavenly sauce — great mix with the veggies and rice pilaf. The shrimp and grits was not what I normally would have expected, but that made it more interesting and delicious! The Peartini was strong and flavorful! The best part of this entire restaurant and possibly the whole key was the key lime pie! I do not like Key lime pie, but this pie was absolutely amazing! Creamy and just the right amount of tang! Voted 4th best key lime pie in the Florida keys! #1 in my book! I will never love another key lime pie!

I really wanted to do 4 stars. I had the Snapper Metacumbe(sp?). My wife had the scallops. The snapper was really good and worthy of 4 stars but the scallops were ok at best. Service was fine but unremarkable. We skipped dessert. Appetizer was oysters Rockefeller. They were a little too heavy on the toppings which drown out the flavor of the oysters. Probably not a repeat.

While on a day trip to the keys from Miami, my boyfriend saw the sign and declared that THIS was the tourist trap he wanted to fall into and I must say he chose wisely. Now I will say we knew exactly what we were walking into and I gotta admit it was half the fun, deep fried appetizers dominated the menu and beautiful fresh fish that was subjected to treatments only an overweight snow bird from the great plains could love. However it was the atmosphere and décor that really stole our hearts. Worn and faded palm carpeting and enough wood paneling to craft a schooner was laced with trinket shaped string lights over every square inch. This was dusted with tourists 30 years our senior so excited and confused by the expansive menu it was only drowned out by their outrage at the concept of a $ 32 yellow tail filet! We were laughing so hard at the whole rediculousness of the situation. Come for the show, it’s the full south Florida show.

Food: Tasty with options from fish and chicken. Price: The prices will scare you when you open the menu. Most main dinner dish are around 25 $ and the price does fluctuate depending on the choice of fish. Appearance: Too small for the volume of people flowing through. Offers both indoor and outdoor sitting. Hook: Pianist will entertain you while you eat indoors. Service: Great. Satisfied with the staffing. Recommended but do call in for reservation for more than 4 parties.

Had dinner here last night. We asked to sit outside as it was a little noisy inside because the restaurant was so busy. We ate outside in the patio which had a charming ambiance with a water fountain in the center and twinkle lights on the umbrellas and trees throughout. The music playing in the back ground was very nice also. Made me feel like I was on vacation in the Carribean somewhere. The staff was super friendly and very attentive. They even put the football game for us on the tv when we asked them. Rachel was our server and she was awesome! The food was so good I wanted to cry. I had the Oysters Rockefeller, Hog Fish Matecombe, and Coconut Margarita and they were all amazing! I literally cannot wait to go back! Superb start to our first day of a long over due and much needed vacation!

Had a great meal tonight at Fish House Encore. Service was great, Josh knew everything about the menu and was able to advise about the best dishes and pairings. The Fried Green Tomatoes were amazing — get them!!! All of the entrees looked beautiful and tasted great. Really well prepared and great sides. Would definitely go back.

Directly next to the Fish House Restaurant in Key Largo, the Fish House Encore is owned by the same people as their next door neighbor. Encore is a bit more upscale by way of décor… and to a certain degree, food. Encore, unlike its neighbor, has an extensive sushi bar menu and more upscale dishes. We as a group began with the Fried Green Tomato appetizer. Very interesting dish… fried green tomato and cheese. For entrees, you can chose from a number of sea foods and their very specific sauces/prep styles. We had the Hog Fish, Matecumbe style, and it was perfect. The Shrimp/Scallop Fra Viavolo was great, as was the Seared Tuna dinner. We finished it off with a few Espresso’s and a very cool looking White Chocolate Baby Grand dessert which is basically chocolate mousse inside a baby grand piano made out of white chocolate(see picture). Very Cool!!! PS: Though we didn’t drink, they have a $ 10.00 corkage fee if you want to bring your own wine. That alone means I’ll be back!!!

I never been to Encore before for I dined more just at Fish House. First let me start by saying the hostess and servers are EXTREMELY friendly, helpful and attentive. The food is pretty much the same as next door so you know it’s just as good. I wasn’t a fan of the sushi. Being I’m a sushi eater I know how it should taste and it wasn’t that great. Encore is more of a place for you to go with your significant other or with a group of friends on dates. Not for a family thing. I recommend going next door for that. Besides the sushi everything seemed fine and its a great place to get away and dine. I would recommend them to remove sushi off the menu until they get it to a tee. And sorry to Rachel our waitress. My 18mth old baby smacked her ass instead of giving her 5 on her hand lol
