I used to like this library but there’s a few things that was totally unacceptable. There’s singing with kids in the morning. I love music and I love kids but the sing-along with kids makes it kind of difficult to concentrate and focus when there’s loud singing going on. It’s a library and a library should be a place of studying and quietness. That’s why I go to the library. This library is not as strict as the other libraries that I go to… unfortunately. Another thing, I’m not against homeless people but I had a homeless guy sitting a few chairs away from me and it smelled like he hadn’t bathe in a year. He was on the computer. It was not pleasant and I could barely stand it. Smelled toxic and I got up and left. Too bad the library can’t keep the noises down and restrict the smelly homeless people from going in. If you don’t mind a noisy library and stinky homeless people… this library is for you.

Best library and Best Children’s Library. Story time is wonderful. There are many great storytellers, and Ms. Kathleen is far and away the best. She has a large following. Also, many special events like«Bubble Day,» and in library concerts and presentations. Simply the best/

I’m a sucker for a good library, especially one that is clean, orderly and has a friendly staff to help you out in finding a book, DVD or other periodical. Kihei public library doesn’t disappoint. The review by Doreen B. is pretty thorough, so I won’t belabor my review. One thing she didn’t mention is that they give away dated but good magazines like«National Geographic» and«Volunteer» on big tables near the entrance. The last time I visited(today), there was a lady laying out on the front lawn grass under a flowering plumeria tree reading a book. Chillaxin’ I did have a little trouble finding the library off of the main drag(South Kihei Road). If you’re not familiar with Kihei, I’d map it on Google first. The side street is almost directly across from Oceans Bar & Grill in the Kukui Mall Shopping Center. Enjoy!

If you’re looking for the ultimate resource center for all things reference to Maui County and the State of Hawaii — here is your place. For residents and tourists alike, you can find some great supplements here to your outdoor excursions. Here are some of my favorite parts of the Kihei branch: + Membership open to residents and nonresidents + Great selection within the library. Can’t find your title? Ask the reference librarian to help you have something transferred. I just picked up my title request sent from Moloka’i. + Open late on Tuesdays + Dozen or so Computers and Print Stations for on the go + An entire section devoted to «beach reads» for those who love a great book on the sand and don’t want to have to worry about getting the title a little dog eared + Don’t have the time or gumption to check out a book? Grab one from the .25 section. Grab an extra for your flight home. ;) + Monthly Calendar of Events includes a least one activity a week for keiki, and one activity a month for the whole family. + Excellent selection of new release DVD’s and Classics, as well as hard to find titles, and foreign film and language tapes. + Are you planning any outdoor excursions? If you are a DIY kine person like me, you can find a great selection of maps, trail maps, dive maps, etc. I can think of more great reasons to check out this Kihei branch(ha! no pun intended), but you don’t have to take my word for it(ha! Reading Rainbow reference) On a side note: First to Review and Review #200 for me — I can’t think of a better place.
