Love these little homely restaurants! You seat yourself And the waitress brings you a menu. We sat in a booth in the loud, obnoxious, chaotic dining room, but it’s everything I have ever wanted in a hometown Restaurant! We love that the regulars called a crossed the restaurant for their waitress by name! We shared a menu and ordered, the food arrived within 10 minutes. I was, however, a little bit upset because there was a misunderstanding when we ordered, and when we asked for it to be corrected, it was. But not until everyone else finished their food. The waitress got a bit busy and since we are newbies we hesitated to start yelling for our waitress as everyone else did .‘then we were charged for the original item, even though we didn’t eat any of it. I paid politely because we were in a rush and didn’t have time to dispute it. Overall, I will be back! We really like the place, and the food was great! 4 stars this time

Really love this place. Best breakfast in the area for the price. It is a hole in the wall, but it has great food.

We love this place! The food is good old Southern comfort food and the staff are some of the nicest folks in town. If you like«lip-py» waitresses(in a fun way, not mean at all) then this is the place. My only negative would be the restrooms… kinda dirty.

This place Is one of Killeens gems! The wait staff Is very accommodating and even though we may stop in once a month or less. They seem to always remember the kids and what they like. The food Is consistent and I haven’t gone with the liver and onions

4 stars for the food: chicken fried steak and hamburger steak. Side salad was fresh. Vege soup was good as long as you like a heavy tomato base. Fifth star was for the amazing service. Jamie was great. Totally made it a pleasant experience. Kick ass waitress for sure. Update: came back tonight because my girl wanted a hot chocolate. Service was great again so that’s clearly a theme here. And the sip i had of her hot choc with whip cream was really good.

We were looking for a place to eat after a day at Mission u and wanted to avoid a chain restaurant. In looking for a place with a «local flavor«we came here. Great choice, good food and excellent service. The catfish is amazing… I’d recommend them to anyone looking to go someplace other than a chain restaurant.

Today, my family and I were looking for a «new» restaurant to try. I say new because we have been sticking to what we know since we’re new to the area. After reading reviews on Unilocal for many many restaurants we felt that the Hallmark Restaurant would be a great place to try. It is open seating so we sat ourselves. The waitress greeted us within two minutes and took our drink order. We then had a few minutes to browse the menu. My husband ordered the all you can eat catfish, my kids had chicken tenders and hotdog and I ordered the spaghetti. We have this thing of not judging a book by its cover. It isn’t the fanciest of places. The décor was dated and it was really humid. Problem 1: My iced tea had a spoon in it that food still on it from previous use. We addressed it with the waitress and she apologized and brought me a new drink less the food. ;-) Problem 2: My husband was eating the catfish and it wasn’t the best in the world but it wasn’t the worst either. The problem is that the tartar sauce was«nasty»(his words). It made his stomach turn and it seemed as if it was from a jar and not made in house. He pushed it off to the side and just ate the catfish with hot sauce. Our waitress came back to see if he was ready for another serving since it was all you can eat. He immediately declined. Problem 3: The ladies restroom was not very clean nor slightly. It only had one stall and the door on the stall needed to be replaced.(There was a sign up, apologizing for the door) Since the space on the side where you lock it was so obvious, they put up a shower curtain that you can pull across for privacy.(I know this part is out of order but I wanted to make sure that I mentioned it) My kids didn’t complain about their food nor celebrate about it. My spaghetti wasn’t anything special. It lacked flavor, even with me putting Parmesan cheese on it and salt. It came with two pieces of garlic bread. The garlic bread was the best part of my meal. I’m not sure if we were there on a off night, but it certainly didn’t live up to all the four and five stars the other Unilocalers gave it. We’ve decided that we have no intention on eating there again.

Best breakfast in town!!! It’s a must visit for us on the weekends. I’ve yet to try anything that’s been less than great on their menu. Theirs biscuits & gravy are perfect!

Well, I really wanted catfish so this seemed like the place to go, and the fried catfish itself was really really good, the batter they use is very flavorful. And the tartar sauce on the side is either homemade or high end purchase. I got the home cut French fries with it and they were very disappointing, soggy and unsalted. My wife’s hash browns were way over cooked, and we waited for about 20 mins for our food and it wasn’t busy at all. I’m gonna come back here when it is all you can eat catfish, and go to town but that is all I’ll be having.

In town on business and came here for breakfast. The atmosphere is great and the wait staff has a blast. You can tell they enjoy working here… it’s the local diner version of Cheer’s! People walk in and the staff is already delivering them drinks and asking if they want the usual. The food is great. I ordered the meat overs omelette with home fries. The omelette is huge; I could only eat half! The home fries are great sliced potatoes, fried on the griddle. Next time, I’ll add some onions just for kicks! Overall a great experience. It’s no wonder why so many people are regulars here.

Best breakfast place in town. They’re homey and cozy and the food is great. Personally I get the trashcan skillet which is everything that is good in the world thrown into a skillet and served. The chocolate chip pancakes are also equally as amazing. We advised though, they’re not just«side» pancakes you might be used to. They’re intended as a meal. Which is not necessarily laid out in the menu… Regardless, I’ve been back I believe 6 times now and it’s just as good as the fist time.

This is one of those places where you call home. People come here all the time, the waitresses are as friendly as anything. But the food speaks for it. Super cheap as well! Love it, count me down as a regular.

Our favorite place for breakfast… at times very busy, but the waitstaff always remains cheery. We love their mushroom, onion and swiss cheese omlet made with egg whites with a side of hash browns or home fries and toast($ 6.99). It is your typical hometown diner where your cup of coffee is still $ 1.35…We have been here in the morning, very late at night after the clubs close and in the early afternoon and the service has always been good. The place is open 24h and 7 days a week. Please note that it gets very busy on weekend morning …

First off let me say I love these kind of restaurants, home based & not too big. Back in Hawaii we have A LOT of places like this. So when I walked in, the environment reminded me of restaurants back home. The MAIN reason I came here was for the Eggs Benedict(I’m a fatty lol). Unfortunately they don’t have the Hollandaise sauce, they serve it with cheese sauce that is mixed with green peppers & other things. Since I was already there I just ordered it anyways. The cheese sauce was overpowering to the Eggs Benedict, it was salty & all I could taste was a little eggs & cheese. My friend who was with me ordered a cinnamon roll(they have it laid out on the counters). Apparently the waitress warmed it up but it took about 20 minutes to get that to us. The service here was ok. Our waitress kinda took her time getting our food & asking if we needed anything more while she helped other customers. I always try to look at the positive, she might have had a bad day or maybe she was covering for someone.

ALLYOUCANEATCATFISHONWEDNESDAYANDFRIDAYS. What more can I say? On Friday evenings, there is a retired school teacher by the name of Steve that plays his guitar and sings songs. It’s such a vibrant country-diner experience. They’ve got some variety on there menu. They have a texmex section, spaghetti, chicken fried steak, burgers, I think they even have bulgogi. I’m not sure if they still have the bulgogi or took it off though. It does get pretty busy on Friday evenings. Sometimes there isn’t a single seat open in the restaurant. So either be willing to wait or have a backup plan for dinner if you’re coming on those nights. The waitresses can be a little slow at times, but you just have to understand for them. On a full house, it’s gonna be a frenzy for them.

This restaurant is near our home next to a hotel and McDonalds. We always drove past this establishment and I never had a desire to check this place out. I wanted a hearty breakfast this morning and I didn’t want to go to your mainstream breakfast places around here since there service and food sucks so we came here. Food was delicious, friendly service and big portions for cheap! It is definitely worth checking out for breakfast.
