I always say«I don’t really like burgers» but they are the only thing I ever order at the Anchor! Awesome friendly staff and great local mix of customers! I love the Johnny Cash burger(with root beer pulled pork and potato chips ON it)! Bartenders nail it with a seasonal cocktail that really works with the weather. The one thing I LOVE about the place is how the place is designed. When bands are playing,(no matter what band) you can still hear each other to carry on a conversation. The Anchor is a Kingston STAPLE!

My wife and I stopped in after taking a ride on the Catskill Mtn. Railroad. The Anchor had some very good Unilocal reviews and lived up to them. The menu and the staff are eclectic, the service was great and the food was fantastic. I had the Frank O’ Phile burger which is a burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Burger was cooked perfectly and my wife’s chicken sandwich was spot on. I want to try the Elvis burger next visit. If it is as good as today’s, I’d have to say they have the best burger menu in the Hudson valley. Only criticism is the fries were a little salty. Nice beer selection as well.

Love this place. My boyfriend and I do and always look forward to trying new beers. Always have a great selection of micro brews; I believe they have 20 tap beers. Food very consistent. Try one of their burgers, perfectly cooked grass fed beef. I wish there were more places like this around.

Without a doubt this place is a killer burger joint. But as a lover of good German food if you see bratwurst and pierogies on the menu your gonna order it. Was very disappointed to find out that there not homemade but none other that Mrs. T’s or some off brand. Overall though this place kicks ass.

The food was very good and so was the service but I didn’t give it a four because the pieces for drinks were way too high. The beers at 10z were around $ 7-$ 8 and cocktails were $ 10(not sure the amount they’d serve tho). Anyway, I had the French onion soup and the chicken Cobb sandwich(didn’t have any egg in it so I’m not sure why it’s called Cobb).

So why do they close so early? But I live the eclecticism of the menu, premises, and staff. Booze is good too.

Food is always good and reasonably priced, and always interesting beer/cider options(including sours, which I love). A standard good bar/grill.

Let me start by saying this place has a awesome beer selection. Many draft beers to choose from. As a appetizer we ordered the Thai chili wings they were good, the blue cheese dip made it even better. Wife ordered the breakfast burger and egg was cooked perfectly. I ordered the Dragon burger and was very pleased with my decision. My only complaint about this place is they are understaffed when it comes to the waitresses. Our waitress was very good, even though she was responsible for at least 8 tables. Will definitely return food was good.

I’ve only been here a handful of times — The food and beer selection is great for sure, but I can’t say the same for the service. In the evening, be prepared to wait at least an hour for your food to arrive. Not great for larger parties. Good atmosphere and live music are a plus. During the day, everything seemed to run smoothly.

There are tons of great, amazing burgers in Kingston, but this is where you’ll find the best and most varieties… and at a fair price. Creative, extensive bar menu, tons of ever changing craft beers on tap, and frequent concerts and dinner music… a staple of midtown kingston!

Amazing burgers! Eclectic beer selection! Great wings! Funky staff! But. The food quality can be a little uneven, and the funky staff isn’t always a super friendly staff. Just the same, if you haven’t been to the Anchor, you owe it to yourself. And whatever you do, make sure you have at least one Bad Decision.

Rate this one a 5+. OMG Heaven. Totally not what I expected. We went to the Garlic Festival and on our way home stopped around the corner at the local Craft Beer Brewery. I decided to look up reviews for local places to eat and The Anchor kept coming up with great ratings. When we got there, it looked like a dive bar from the outside and we all silently questioned going in. But the inside AMAZING. The place is unreal. Once side looks like a coffee house, the other side looks like a large open mike place. The most amazing part is their outdoor seating in the back. Feels like a German Beer Garden. Glad we didn’t let outside appearances stop us from entering. THEBURGERSWERETHEBEST I EVERHAD! I got the«Cowgirl» which was awesome, my friends«Bad Decision», «the Breakfast» and the«Bob Marley», all equally as good. The fries were fantastic. The server was awesome. The craft beer they had on tap was amazing. They offered flights that were just the size to be able to try lots of different kinds of beers. The staff could describe them all and were so passionate about them you would have thought they brewed it themselves. I wish they were closer to home… though I’m glad they aren’t because I’d be there everyday.

Wound up here prior to a show at UPAC for dinner with a group of friends based on the Unilocal reviews. Clearly aimed at hipster chic, with décor and vibe to match. Which is fine, no problem with that. Service and servers all polite and attentive! Beer list very well curated. I think they have about 20 taps running, no small feat. I would happily set up shop at the bar and hang for a while. The food — very burger-centric, and maybe we hit them on an off night or something. The kitchen has a very light hand with the salt, except when it comes to the fries. I sampled a bunch of stuff — the edamame falafel appetizers were very under-seasoned; the guacamole had basically no salt at all; and my burger(I went with the«Breakfast» — bacon, cheese, fried egg) was similarly salt-free. The bacon was almost undetectable, too. The fries were good. A mac and cheese side was pretty good, too — they use sharp cheddar, which makes a big difference. A co-diner’s black bean burger did not get high marks either. Not in Kingston all that frequently, but if I were I might be willing to give them another try — it is a cool space and concept. As it is, I wouldn’t steer out of my way to come back.

The burgers are great. Absolutely great. I’ve had three different kinds, and each was delicious. But everything else, meh. The endename falafels are dry and lack spice. The pulled pork is way too sugary. My daughter got a chicken dish and it was totally overcooked. The outdoor space is really nice. Inside is a little dark. The service is pretty good and the food takes a while, but if you ordered a burger it’s worth the wait. :)

I ordered The Sanchez late on a sleepy Sunday afternoon and I was impressed. The Anchor had a relaxed atmosphere, great music(not too loud) and a great menu and beer selection. I wish it were closer to where I live — I’d be a regular!

Who knew that Cream Cheese, Bacon and BBQ sauce would go so well on a burger. Yeah, this place has a wild menu of burgers and food but everythi g we had was great. To be honest, I was a bit worried when we pulled up because from the front it just looked like a bar but I learned from Potsdam NY thst ypu can’t judge places from the outside. We trusted the other Unilocalers and they were right. Great food, great staff and even some live music. We would be back if we were ever in this part of NY again. We found this on our way to the Haunted Hayride.

Good beer pub with a friendly vibe. A long long way from former establishment Eddy’s. And a quick walk from Keegan, great for beer but the douchebagometer is set to 7 over there. Not here.

Wow!!! This joint didn’t look like much from outside, but when you enter you see a clean bar with light colored wood floor and dark wood bar. Woman said we could sit in restaurant area around on opposite side of bar. Bright mod paintings were on all walls, had to use washroom first and it was very clean. We ordered beers, I got a stout and my wife a cider. We ordered French onion soup which came out soon after and was hot and delicious with tons of cheese. I ordered a Ruben, my wife the«hot mess» that is fries with root beer pulled pork, cheese and jalapeños. My son ordered the dragon which is a burger with blue cheese and bacon. All of these came out great and tasted out of this world. Service was great… go here!!!

This place is amazing. It has wonderful acoustics, great musical events,. They seem to spend a good amount of energy creating wonderful for their exceptional events. I love that. It is a particularly pleasant space with a clean, beautiful bar, and a ambience that makes me a pleasantly satisfied nostalgia for late 1970s Early 1980s dives from Lower Manhattan. All of that, but none of the smelliness! The crowd is pretty eclectic as well. It’s in a somewhat foreboding looking section of Broadway and Kingston, but it is a very safe neighborhood, where I have never had any problem in all of the years that I’ve been wandering around in that quadrant. Street parking is usually quite available even particularly busy nights. The food is excellent, usually served quite quickly, bye an eclectic staff, including an amazing local artist and a couple of really cool musicians. The wine and beer selections are excellent and ever-changing. They also have a fine selection of cocktail standards and wonderful local spirits. I totally and completely adore this place, absolutely recommend it, and suggest you subscribe to whatever emails or lists or Facebook pages they have so that you can be kept up to date on every nifty thing they are doing!

What a pleasant surprise this place was. We walked in and were warmly greeted by Francis who offered to seat us outside or in. The outside looked a bit stark, so we stayed inside. Our server was very friendly, but Francis kept stopping by to check that my husband got refills of his iced tea. It was wings night, so we ordered ten Buffalo style — excellent! Main courses: His burger was a bit overcooked(medium to medium well when he’d asked for medium rare), and my chicken sandwich was sort of bland, but I DON’t CARE because the service was so great. I will say that my onion rings were quite good, and the avocado on my sandwich, fresh. Will be back, but probably just for wings and drinks and maybe for the live music.

I have vowed to never step foot in this place again, which is unfortunate because I really liked coming to The Anchor to hang out on Friday nights. Nice atmosphere and the crowd they draw in is usually full of friendly people which is always an awesome addition to a bar. They have good drinks and yummy wings as well. But after pissing myself and my boyfriend off a few times in a row with iffy/rude attitudes from staff(bartenders to be exact, I believe one of them even runs the place), I decided that my last visit was the last straw. I’m standing at the bar with my boyfriend and we ask for a menu, the bartender brings the menus over. We decided we wanted to sit down at a table, but we ask if we can put in an order of wings and drinks at the bar. He then asks if we plan on sitting down at a table to eat. We say yes, but we would like to order the drinks now and pay at the bar so we didn’t have to wait once we sat down. He then replies«well you’re going to bring your drinks to the table anyways right? So why not just sit down and let us bring them to you?» His tone was not friendly as he says this. Once you sit, you place your food order with the waitress, so he never took the wing order either. My boyfriend and I grab the menus and sit down at a table. We sat and waited for quite a while and low and behold, we never got the drinks we ordered. Finally a waitress walks by and we had to call her over to ask if we could order some wings and re-order our drinks. She replies«well I’m off the clock right now, but you can go to the bar and put your order in there». Right after she said it, I told her never mind, said thanks, and we walked out. After all that sassing the bartender did, the waitress tells me to order at the bar WHICHISWHAT I TRIEDTODOINTHEFIRSTDARNPLACE?! Never again.

I stopped in here for dinner based on the Unilocal reviews. I sat at the bar and ordered a salad with grilled chicken, and a low carb burger(no bun) with cheddar and bacon. I also ordered their Hop Devil IPA which I’ve had elsewhere. I was hoping for something new and local in the IPA category, but they did not have anything else I liked. Food was good, the burger, however, was under seasoned. It needed some salt, pepper, etc. The fries were tasty. The service was excellent and the two bartenders serving me were really nice and awesome! I’d come back here again to drink and/or for pub grub.

Excellent service. Great homemade balsamic dressing for salad. Food quality is excellent. I didn’t like the pulled pork though, had an odd sweetness to it. I also tasted the calamari, quesadillas and curry chicken salad, all yummy! Very decent atmosphere. Overall a great place!

Hubby and I love new places and thus far, Unilocal has had a good hand in helping us determine where to go when out of our own neighborhood. This is one of those times. The place wasn’t too crowded, tho it was early in the night for a bar. We were able to park in the lot across the street, but getting back was a challenge being so near a major traffic area. We were greeted and seated quickly. The menu is wide, but not epic. A full double sided food menu is just enough choice for us. We started by sharing the French Onion soup. Delightful! A good blend of melty cheese, sweet onions in a rich(not heavy) broth, and fresh scallion on top. MWAH!(xx) Hubby had the Sanchez burger with fries which he seemed to enjoy greatly. I sampled his fries and they were not bad at all. We were visiting the are on an anniversary weekend, so he got to drink and I didn’t.(I’m the better night time driver.) I decided on the BLAT and chose to pay the $ 1.50 more for onion rings. This is a sizable plate of food. It was delicious however. They onion rings are thick cut, but not over battered. I prefer thin onion rings, but I enjoyed these all the same. The sandwich was finished back at our hotel because it was quite big. The burger also got finished later that night. The place has two restrooms which are single occupant, but not cramped. The drink selection was indeed generous and maybe next time I would have a drink, but better safe. The waitress was friendly and happy to answer questions. If you pay with a card tho, they bring a tablet to the table for you to accomplish the transaction, so FYI.
