My family and I came here after a family friend invited us. It was our first time trying real, legit Cajun food and it was not bad. As appetizers, our friend Richard, ordered friend alligator and Boudin balls. I had to try the alligator, so I did and surprisingly it was pretty good. The boudin calls were also good but they were lacking a little bit of seasoning. I ordered the crawfish combo, and each member of my family ordered sow thing different, but we all enjoyed our food. My crawfish etoufee was also lacking a little seasoning, but I don’t know if this is how Cajun cuisine is supposed to be or not. After adding some Tabasco it was perfect though. I shared my combo with my family because it was huge. Also, the green beans were delicious!!! The staff was super nice, and the food came out quickly. They were always checking up on us as well. I would like to come again and try some more of their dishes. Would recommend.

OK food, maybe a bit on the greasy side even for this old Tennessee boy, but OK. Service was a bit shy of great, but is ok if you got a hankerin’ for their fare.

Good food, pretty authentic Louisiana food. Great service. Eat there and watch Saints and LSU games often. Would like to see hand cut fresh fries added versus the current.

I don’t live in Houston, but my parents live in Porter, any time I visit them I make it a point to go to this place. Their jambalaya pasta is amazing. There burgers that are cooked«inside out» are phenomenal. I would recommend this to anyone even if you don’t like spicy food there are plenty of options on the menu. The atmosphere is great! One night we went and they had live music which was also really cool.

I travel extensively for work. When I’m in Kingwood, I will aways have lunch or dinner here. I make it a point to go on Tuesday lunch for the spicy shrimp salad. You get a dozen boiled and peeled shrimp on a delicious salad for $ 7.99. It’s huge and filling and taste great. I’ve had several items off the menu and have never been disappointed! Counter service, so no tipping or waiting for service. Give it a try!

This is my go-to spot for Saints games. Or any Louisiana sports broadcast. The owner is always walking around being friendly and talking to patrons. There’s a gaming table for kids and TONS of tv’s for sports. The bar is smallish but for Kingwood it’s perfect. The food is pretty good, also. I love that boudain balls and Abita it ½ off during Saints games. I get them every time. The poboys are on great French Bread and their batter is good, not over done and thick. But that brownie sundae, tho… It’s huge and my absolute favorite dessert splurge. I usually order a platter or the gumbo and have never been disappointed. The alligator is a nice taste of home for me too. From a Cajun, this place will always get my vote.

Was in the burbs and couldn’t wait until arriving back into town to eat. Stopped at the first non-chain place I could find, which was Zachary’s. Glad I did. It’s a casual counter service restaurant cookin’ up some good cajun food. Got the wings and grilled catfish poboy. Catfish was delicious and tasted fresh. The bread was huge. Couldn’t get my jaw around it. Had to leave some of the bread uneaten it was just too much. If you want a local place in the burbs check out this place. Good food and prices.

Quite a pleasant surprise as we stopped for lunch in Kingwood. Best Gumbo to be had west of Beaumont, and the shrimp po-boy was MASSIVE. Bonus: several Abita brews are available on tap. Definitely worthy of a return visit.

Zachary’s has become one of my favorite places in Kingwood since my move! Not only do they offer some solid cajun food, they also have Abita beers on tap all the time! Thursday’s are typically the night we go, as they have $ 8 Abita pitchers and open mic night. Kingwood has some great musical talent, so it makes for a fun night out before the weekend! The food is always dependable and very large portions, so we often split something. They have other food specials on different nights of the week and also offer options for the kiddos. This is a great local owned establishment and they give back to the community often by supporting local youth sports!

Certainly at the top of the list for food in the kingwood area. I always come here at least once during each visit. When you walk in you are immediately greeted by employees at the counter ready to take your order or answer any question. After you order you get your drink and then seat yourself. I highly recommend trying the gumbo during one of your visits here. Having tried many different gumbos I can say there seafood gumbo is nothing short of incredible! Another favorite item of mine to get a Po Boy. It comes on a large bun over flowing with your choice of oysters, crawfish, shrimp, or catfish. I have yet to try but I have also only heard great things about there burgers. The great food mixed with an awesome Cajun décor is welcoming and unbeatable in the area. The ownership does a great job overseeing everything and making sure everything is just right. Highly recommend!

Great Kingwood hangout! Thursday’s you can get a pitcher of different Abita beers for $ 8! I mean seriously! And it’s also open mic night there, which is a lot fun to check out the local talent! Can’t wait to go again, and eat something this time. Might hit the NOLA cravings just right!

Fresh food in a clean atmosphere. Zachary’s offers a range of cajun influenced options. I usually have the grilled shrimp po’boy. While basic it always served on fresh bread. A nice place to relax watch a ball game, have good bar food. Convienently located near the Homewood Suite Hotel in Kingwood, TX.

It was a Friday night and there was live music, so sis felt like she was back in Austin. The band was pretty good, although loud, so definitely don’t come here to discuss business. The prices seemed very reasonable to us. Huge salads and sandwiches. We tried the shrimp creole and the crawfish etoufee. Compared to New Orleans prices, $ 12.99 seemed reasonable for a large plate that stuffed us. No room for beignets unfortunately. They have a large selection of Abita’s on draft and I thought $ 3.75 seemed cheap. Happy hour they are $ 2.50. If I lived in Kingwood, this would be a regular spot. Lost a star because it was packed when we got there and you order at the counter. We asked the girl what to do if the food came out but there still wasn’t a table… She shrugged her shoulders and said, «make a friend?» It was funny, but not really! We did get a table though and a young couple with a baby was standing around sharing our concerns about a table when I saw the manager find them a hidden table somewhere.

I’m not a Cajun expert but Zachary’s has pretty good food overall. I love the popular crawfish étouffée and my boyfriend enjoys the pastas since it has a kick to it. Looking for a quick fix, this café is comfortable and laid back while eating good food. I always finish off with the beignets. The staff are very friendly, and the place is well kept up!
