Went here with some friends who are locals. They claimed that it wasn’t touristy and the burgers were the best you ever had. They were right. We sat on the top deck drinking beers. Beautiful view! :)

I really enjoyed Art’s Place. It’s a smaller quint spot and I found that it’s a wonderful locals spot. The food is really quite delicious, but if the past few times I’ve been that if you add or change something to the order, it sometimes doesn’t come out that way. It’s usually an older crowd and they accommodate smaller parties well. They also accommodated for my two year old nephew.

I found on a locals blog a few local favorite places to eat, places diners drive-ins and dives did not cover this place was one. I read many reviews about this place but did not check Unilocal big mistake. I see someone else wrote(Tagline for the restaurant is «Locals welcome… tourists tolerated.» Seems like«Just barely» should be added to end of that statement!) I have to agree. keep in mind we are very nice people and were treated like we were the scum of the earth. you people need to remember you stay in business because of tourists you idiots how many locals could eat there enough to keep your registers full. we went in twice. the first meal I had a hamburger husband had a sandwhich the burger was great the sandwhich was not, we went back and were late by 5 minutes for breakfast and was refused. ok so husband ordered a hamburger which was dreadful, way over cooked I ordered a Ruben I have never in my life found corn-beef so tough I could not bite though it and it did not even cover half the sandwhich which was not grilled more then a minute this sandwhich was gross I had to take out all the insides put it on one quarter of the bread fold that in half and tried to eat it without luck. these people are rude to tourists and the food is not consistent.

Service was good, food was not very good. Toast was awful, potatoes had no flavor. Coffee was really weak. After I read all the reviews, I had high hopes.

I’m here a couple times a year for work. Usually for months at a time. They have amazing burgers! But, you are only going to get to eat if you go during the day I have now walked in twice at night one time 30 minutes before they closed and one time an hour before closing and they had already closed the grill. I get it if you’re not busy but turn off the open sign and lock door. Orrrr stay open until the time you say you will.

Same experience as before. The food was great if you’re looking for a burger or other greasy grill food. Definitely worth a drop by if you’re nearby and looking for something along these lines. It wasn’t super quick, but it was a good atmosphere to wait.

The food here is great but unfortunately they close whenever they want. I’ve gone here multiple times and been sent away even though it was over a half hour from«closing.» Not good business.

Went here for breakfast while on vacation due to the good reviews. Place was busy but not packed. The guy tending the tables was not very friendly at all and made us feel like we were an annoyance, yet he was yucking it up with what appeared to be locals having breakfast at the counter — assumed they were locals since he addressed several by name. We asked if there was seating on the outside deck and he dryly responded«I don’t do service up there». Fair enough, but no need to respond like you’re pissed and it was a stupid question.(note pictures others have posted of eating up there) We waited 10 minutes and finally got seated at the counter with no menus once a few chairs opened up, despite there being a table that sat empty the entire time that just needed to have a couple of plates cleared and the table wiped. We proceeded to sit for a couple minutes with no menus! We then noticed some menus over on the far wall so the wife went over and got some and then we proceeded to sit for a few more minutes still with no recognition from anyone. After a couple more minutes just sitting there we had enough so we got up and went elsewhere for breakfast. Tagline for the restaurant is «Locals welcome… tourists tolerated.» Seems like«Just barely» should be added to end of that statement! We went down the street to Bob’s Grill where«Eat and get the hell out» is their tagline but is actually a joke, and had much friendlier service and a delicious breakfast.

Small beachside restaurant, great atmosphere, big, sloppy burgers, and fantastic fries. Wife reports the best sweet potato fries ever. Staff was very friendly.

Really wanted to like this place because the atmosphere was a great little beach side place and the reviews were so good! Sadly, we just didn’t have a good experience. Due to our own fault, we came in at 10:50 and missed the breakfast window by 5 minutes. We ended up ordering lunch anyways. We got the onion rings and potato skins as appetizers and they were both great! Probably the best onion rings we’ve had in a very long time! The tough part came when we kept waiting and waiting for our meals. None of them were anything complicated, just sandwiches. We saw 2 – 3 other groups of guests come in, be seated, and get their food before we saw ours. Probably 45 minutes later the waitress comes over and says there was a large order of burgers(from people that arrived after us) that was holding up our lunch. When we finally got our food, it was decent. Nothing’s special but fairly expected from the small diner like place. The poor service and waiting an hour while watching others eat put a bad taste in our mouths. Don’t think we will be back again.

Terrific little place on the beach road to get breakfast lunch and dinner! They make an almost perfect cheese burger, cooked to order! They have a nice variety of beer to go with that burger. The fries are hand cut and come out hot and delish. They make a 3 cheese toasted sandwich that is completely decadent. We got breakfast here as well, and it was very good. The servers are friendly and helpful. Best of all are the prices. These guys are one of the most affordable places to eat on the beach. They also serve outdoors, weather permitting. The locals love this place, and with so many good restaurants, they know food. Eat at Art’s. You wont be sorry

Wow, this place simply is amazing. It’s got everything I look for in a breakfast spot: the homey diner feel, large portions and delicious food. And, we stopped by two days in a row so they’re consistent as well in their food! After hearing locals recommend the place, we stopped by for a Saturday brunch. The interior is actually fairly small – it only fits 4 – 5 tables plus a bar. We had a wait of about 20 minutes before seats opened up at the bar. I never rave about coffee, but even the coffee they served here was phenomenal. I had the breakfast egg biscuit with sausage and cheese on Saturday, and an omelette when we went back on Sunday. The size of that biscuit was nothing to scoff at. I figured a $ 5 biscuit sandwich wouldn’t be enough food, so I ordered home fries and a pancake… bad choice. The biscuit is huge – almost as big as the pancake. It’s rather flaky though and a tad bit dry, but the ample amounts of egg and cheese in the sandwich really balanced that texture out. Needless to say, I finished everything because it was all so good and ended up being stuffed until dinnertime. The omelette was delicious too and of course a huge portion. No ingredients that you pick are skimped on in the omelette so be prepared to feast! This is now my must-visit place when I visit the Outer Banks – Art’s won’t disappoint!

We went for dinner, we ordered hamburgers, a Reuben sandwich and I had the chicken salad on toasted bread instead of a wrap. The burgers were huge, the Reuben was too much to finish and the chicken salad was put on two thick pieces of sourdough. I couldn’t finish my sandwich. Around 8pm a live small band played jazzy music. The place is small & very intimate. It was filled with locals who made you feel welcome. The staff were very pleasant and on the ball. We all loved what we ordered so much at dinner we went back to Art’s Place for breakfast. One thing you’ll never do is walk out of Art’s hungry. I’ve never seen biscuits as big as they make and they make them on a daily basis. Everything is fresh and bought from local farmers/bakeries. If you go to Kitty Hawk and you don’t visit Art’s Place you’ll have missed a great meal, great live music and great atmosphere.

Stopped in for Breakfast at Art’s Place on a long road trip from New York to Charleston, and sitting on the balcony, above the restaurant, looking over the beach on a stunning weekday morning was one of my favourite memories from the whole trip. If you can think of a better way to start your day than going for an early morning swim and then following that up with a plate full of crispy bacon, sunny side up eggs, perfectly seasoned home fries and a homemade biscuit then I would love to hear it. If you’re in the area for the summer, stop in at Art’s for the best value for money, and best tasting breakfast in the Outer Banks.

If I had to sum up breakfast at Art’s, it’s so much food for so little ca$h! Omelet was really tasty and stuffed with veggies and cheese(you build your own omelets which I loved). Homefries were some of the best I’ve had in awhile and the biscuit really couldn’t be beat. Beau’s breakfast sammie was so huge, after 2 bites he gave up and ate the rest with a fork and knife. Our server was absolutely fantastic — friendly and attentive. And she brought me a mega bottle of Sriracha. I love anyone who brings me Sriracha. It’s very, very small(literally a bar and 3 tables) so I recommend you get there early to avoid a wait. It was empty when we arrived around 0930 but there wasn’t a spare seat when we left at 1015. Also, there are no drinks on the menu but they’ll make you a bloody mary, Irish coffee, mimosa… whatever you want! I’m sad that it took us so long to discover Art’s but now that we know it’s there, probably won’t ever eat breakfast elsewhere when we’re in the Outer Banks.
