I don’t see the appeal of this place. The atmosphere is nice but the food isn’t good. They have some okay appetizers and passable pizza but the main entrees do not have great quality or flavor. The menu is an odd combination of choices. Also, the last time we came our server was not friendly. Im not a fan but some of my family members love it.

We arrived at Barefoot Bernie’s for a late lunch before check in. There was a short wait during which we waited on an outside covered area with tables and chairs.
We were sat at a high-​top table and ordered drinks. A vodka tonic and a Bloody Mary. For apps we tried the daily soup (I don’t even remember what it was exactly, a crab and Gouda? Either way– delicious). We also had the deviled eggs which were also delicious. The three of us each tried a different salad and all were outstanding. Would definitely return. Like maybe later today.

Bang bang shrimp were bang bang! I absolutely loved them, almost as much as I loved the $ 4.40 margaritas! I got the Bernie burger as well which was ok, the tomatoes looked funky and the burger, which I asked for to be well done, was almost charred but still had good flavor. I will definitely be back again!

Worst service I have had in the Outer Banks!!! We had a large party and waited for over an hour. We asked several times if we could split into two tables and they refused. We had to wait for one specific table. Once seated, we waited and waited. Drink refills??? We waited. Food… I am still sitting here waiting. If you want to go somewhere to wait in the Outer Banks, this is the place for you.

Would recommend! Service was exceptionally quick and very friendly prices were pretty inexpensive and portions and quality were not sacrificed. Had a party of 13 and seated us immediately during rush time. Waiter was very tentative and had our food out within no time! Every one got something different and no one was disappointed. From lasagna to steak to seafood and vegetarian dishes everything was great. Would defiantly recommend and will be going back.

Came here my last night of vacation and by far was my favorite place all week. Food was excellent as well as our waitress. The atmosphere was great too! Amazing first time experience!

After the rude hostess ruined our experience, Jay (our server) made up for it with stellar service. We had a rather large group that included 3 children under 12 and his interaction and attitude towards them was awesome. The food was on point. We never had to ask for refills or extra napkins and he kept us in the loop on when our food would be brought to the table. All in all if we hadn’t had the terrible attitude from the hostess I would rate a 5.
*I would suggest having it stated somewhere in print reservations are not taken for after 5!!*

Don’t bother. They were very rude. They were unable to accommodate a party of 16 despite us being willing to break into smaller groups. We won’t even try another day due to rudeness. Go to Food Dude’s a short distance away. Excellent food and outstanding service!

One of our go to places. Good food, good service. Everything we’ve tried on the menu has been solid. We always get the crab dip for an app. Just went there tonight and had the snapper special the South Pacific tuna and fish and chips. All solid. Definitely worth going to

It wasn’t terrible per se… I got the shrimp & grits dinner. I really liked my food, it had sausage and vegetables in it too and it was very good. I couldn’t finish it all. On the other hand, my mom ordered the ribs and they were SO DRY and overcooked. They weren’t good at all. My man got sliced steak over a bed of rice, queso and pico de gallo. cant remember what it was called. He liked it. My daughter got their kids pizza and it looked alright to me.
What annoyed me was that I wanted a margarita on the rocks, and the only way they serve margs is frozen… how are you going to be a TROPICAL grill & BAR but not serve a margarita on the rocks? Not everyone likes it frozen. so I got draft beer instead.
It may be worth checking out, but there’s so many other restaurants in OBX that it would be a long time before I ever came back here to give it another shot.

Bar staff is always friendly and we love the happy hour menu.
During the off season we get sushi on Thurs and they always have some type of special from day to day.

Went on a Saturday night and got seated as soon as we walked in. Ordered the St Lucia BBQ Chicken and a Natty Greene’s Southern Pale Ale to start. They brought warm bread and olive oil & garlic to eat as an appetizer, nice!
My chicken was great, had a nice warm marinate sauce, generous portions, will come again !

Ok I’m giving them a 4 star in respect to what they are. A cute beach bar and grill.
I would give food a 3 star. Actually I had the enchiladas (seafood) and weren’t that great. Also the chips and cheese (chips nachos) weren’t very good either. So avoid Mexican themed food I guess. My wife’s pizza was very good and my sons chick parm sandwich and fries were very good. Daughter likes her noodles. Bang bang shrimp were fine (nothing real special).
But as a cute beach bar I liked the theming. Lots of drink specials and selection. Nice bar. Fun little place. I’m sure just have to find their specialties when it comes to food. 4 stars theming and bar.
But you don’t come here thinking it is gourmet restaurant.

I had previously given 4 stars for the bar service and im droppping it a star after actaully eating there. we went this past Sunday and the hostess tried to sit us directly between 2 hightop tables back in a corner while the rest of the high tops were open all around… why do they train hostess’s to seat in clumped areas. frustrating. we asked instead for a booth and while we were waiting for the table my boyfriend went to the bathroom and while we was gone the hostess came to sit us… im weird and like us to be seated together so i politely asked to wait for my partner. she gave a awkward look and just stood there.
For dinner we got Fish and Chips and the shrimp pasta in a tequila lime cream sauce. my fish and chips were sub par. they served it all in a basket which made cutting the fish difficult and the fish had a oceany fishy taste to it so i didnt eat very much of it. my boyfriend said the pasta was good. all in all i would probably not go there again

Bernies is yet another tropical type bar of sorts down on the banks. They have a nice twist on pub food here with a nice variety. What they don’t have much of is a draft beer selection, which most places now of days have upped their game on.
Anyways the food is pretty darn good here. I did happen to try the jimmys supreme gourmet pan pizza here and the menu mentions it’s a 10 inch pie but I’d have to say it’s probably a 12 inch which is a bonus. The sauce, meats and veggies where great! I thought the dough tasted pretty good as well. Other members in my party loved their dishes as well.
Yeah Bernies is a cool place to hangout at and maybe the next time I’ll have to try one of their mixed drinks off the menu, yes I’ll be back here in do time I’m sure!

My wife and I stopped for Lunch on a Friday.
Loved the décor real laid-​back feel to the place.
We had the crab dip and steamed clams to start with both were very good.
Wife had the jerk pork and it was outstanding and fell right off the bone .
I tried the Cuban style steak it was awesome and full of flavor.
Value and portions size were good and service was outstanding.
Had a first class meal for under $ 40 plus tip, good in my book any day.
Glad we stopped, hope to stop again.
