Best pie I’ve tried in Knoxville. It’s hard to pick a favorite but the buttermilk, I40, banana cream, and apple, are all at the top! Their small pies make great little gifts as a way to say thank you. Love this place, it’s addictive.

Hello, I am the Duchess of Buttermilk Sky Pie. Very proud, very proud! So let’s put to rest the matter of their pie crust. It’s not a traditional flaky crust. It’s a shortbread(exactly like the cookie. As a matter of fact, its the same dough they use for their thumbprint cookie bites). So it’s supposed to just melt in your mouth with a crumble. You love it or you don’t. Well, that was easy. But the hard part is choosing just one flavor! You can choose a classic flavor like the I-40 pie(represent!) or the buttermilk which is a great neutral palette served warm with the ice cream of your choice. Yum! They also have seasonal flavors like my favorites: chocolate chess and strawberry.(I’m drooling). If that’s not enough, they feature a new flavor each month with a portion of sales benefiting a different cause or charity. And they keep it LOCAL. Way to PIE it forward, Buttermilk. The service is friendly and they do a great job running their local operation. I just keep coming back again and again and again…

Had lunch at Newk’s next door and walked over to try their pies. Had the I-40 and Caramel, both were really, really delicious!!! The I-40 was a cross between a coconut, chocolate chip and pecan pie. The caramel had a wonderful light meringue topping and crusts were buttery. Super cute little shop!

This was the one place on my «must try» list when I visited Knoxville and it more than lived up to my expectations. There are two locations– one on Kingston Pike, which I believe is the original, and one in Turkey Creek, which is the location I visited. It was pretty late in the evening when I visited so the shop was pretty quiet, but still well stocked with pies! I purchased two of the mini pies, which were about $ 4 each. I opted for the classic, Apple Pie, which was the perfect, traditional apple pie– just like you’d have at home! The second, was the I40, the signature pie paying homage to Tennessee’s Interstate 40. The I40 featured pecans, coconut and chocolate and was reminiscent of a seven layer bar and, therefore, amazing! While I didn’t spend much time in the store it was very cute. The staff were friendly and quick to assist and were working away at preparing pies to bake for the next day! The shop also sells full size pies, a concoction called a Cloud 9 which blends ice cream and pie and some cute little thumbprint cookies. I can guarantee you that a stop to Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop will be a required stop on any future trips to Knoxville for me!

Don’t let these pies fool you. They LOOK scrumptious… We, myself and my hubby and both adult children, stopped here after a movie and decided we HAD to try these pies out since they ran out on PI Day at the other location. I can honestly say I dont see why these reviews are sooo high. We had the: I-40: Good. But the crust had a bland taste. One of their best pies, because of the chocolate chips and coconut in a basic pecan pie… Chocolate Merigue: Good. But again. the crust was really flaky.bland. Strawberry Pie: Terrible. It tasted like strawberry jelly. Zero Stars Apple Pie: VERY tart. Not sweet at all. It looks better then it tastes. Trust us. Zero Stars This is coming from 4 people. We split all 4 pies 4 ways. Ended up tossing out the Apple and Strawberry ones after we all took one bite. IF we were to come back, I would consider getting just the I-40 and Chocolate Pies only. These pies are just mediocre… nothing to jump up and down for. Was all very disappointed.

If you are going to be closed, put a sign up notifying customers of holiday hours, or change your website or your phone recording. ONE of these options would have stopped me from driving 45 minutes only to find the shop closed.

Yum yum yum! I happened by this on their opening day and tried a buttermilk pie. Promptly bought 24″ pies to take home for my husband to try! For Christmas rather than have a whole pie, we just bought 44″. They have all been amazingly delicious, with only a few weeks left in the area I’ve had to stop myself from stopping in for more! The only downer right now is their biscuits have not been available any time I’ve stopped, they’re still working on the recipe. I hope they have them down and available the next time I stop in!

Found this place after receiving a mini pie as a gift. Went to the Turkey Creek location on opening day. The staff was friendly and helpful. I bought pies for teacher and staff gifts which works well when you have 20 teachers! Each one came sealed in its own box. They had at least 6 different kinds — including my favorite Kentucky Derby or I-40 as they call it. I would never have bought a buttermilk pie until I tried the free sample. It was much better than my assumption. Great idea for a dinner party or afternoon tea — you can preset the pie with the guests placard. If you were a fan of the cupcake fad, you should try this place!
