Best bar in Knoxville. Great food and ramen. Rotating taps constantly, love that. It’s always a good surprise to see what gets put on tap when one runs out. This is a great place to go have a good craft beer and/or food at a decent price.

No table service… you have to walk back and forth to the bar for a drink… FYI.

Had the Black Shin bowl there a couple of weeks ago, it was wonderful. Great food, friendly staff, and a fun location. Try it out, you will like it.

I’ve been here several times, and the service has never been great. This is easy to forgive when they’re busy, however the last time I was here the lack of consideration was unbelievable. There were only half a dozen patrons in the bar, and I was sitting at the bar, facing the taps. We sat for about five minutes while the bar tender talked to his buddy at the end of the bar towards the kitchen area. We stared. And we stared some more. And we kept staring. He finally approached us. I got the distinct feeling he found waiting on us to be a nuisance. He got our beers, opened our tab and went back to his conversation. When my first beer was empty, it sat in front of me for approximately 10 minutes. Again, I will remind you, I was one of 3 – 4 people at the bar, with another 2 – 3 people in the entire place. We again stared at him. And we stared more. And more. Finally another bartender who appeared to have just begun his shift saw me and asked if I wanted a beer. «I WOULDLOVE A BEER!» I announced, making very little attempt to hide my annoyance with the situation. He looked apologetic and gave me my second beer. He then began cleaning the windows while his coworker remained in his conversation with his buddy. By the time my second beer sat in front of me empty, with my bartender still steadfastly ignoring me, I was ready to pay and leave. This may prove to be the final straw for me, as the time before this I was at Suttree’s for my birthday, and they did not honor my free birthday beer. You can be put on a mailing list so that they email you and offer you a free pint for your birthday. When I went in for this and a meal, the bartender asked for my ID to prove it was my birthday. I complied. Approximately 10 minutes later we decided to leave. Upon tabbing out, the beer was charged to me. Great beer is awesome. Bad service is memorable. Doubt I’ll be back.

This is hands down my favorite place in the city. The high-alcohol beer selection is fantastic, and you could not find a more knowledgeable staff who are more enthusiastic about their product. When they first opened, their food was not very exciting, but they’ve stepped up their game this last year and incorporated in ramen bowls that are absolutely delicious. They’re expanding their premises soon, which is great news for anyone who frequents there. On a weekend or even some evenings on a weekday, it is crowded from wall-to-wall.

The best bar downtown, hands down. I hate to tell you about it because then you’ll show up. The staff are the best and never fail to be friendly. They are also knowledgable of the beer and whiskey they serve. Always 30+ different beers on draft. It’s all about the beer. The place isn’t huge. It gets pretty packed. Now equipped with pinball too?! Please don’t check out this amazing bar.

This place is the best. They’ve got a wide variety of high gravity beer, a full bar, delicious homemade ramen, and super friendly staff. Especially excellent place to go for a weeknight drink — it can be very busy on the weekends. Also, points for bathroom stall art.

Five extra Stars for excellent beer, atmosphere and service. The bartenders are great and very knowledgable about their beer selection. I have yet to eaten at Suttrees but am looking forward to trying their Phó. I highly recommend Suttrees.

As someone who LOVES beer, I’ll have to say Suttrees is one of my favorite bars in Knoxville in terms of beer selection. The bartenders definitely know their shit without coming off as condescending. Pretty good menu as well. The pork belly sliders(buns of squeal) and the Ramen bowls are awesome. It can get a bit stuffy and crowded at times, but that’s to be expected. Whether you’re a beer snob or just someone looking to try some new beers. I would highly suggest Suttrees.

This is gonna be short and sweet… One word: Ramen Go for the beer and discover downtown’s best kept secret… A ridiculously good bowl of Ramen complete with smoked pork or brisket. Great bar on cold winter nights. Too small patio and pretty dark inside, so not my first choice in the summer, but that ramen!!! Just can’t get enough!

Really great place, I have only been a few times but with a strong selection of craft beers and an interesting southern twist to a ramen bowl you can’t go wrong. I saw 1 or two reviews complaining about not being waited on or served so I thought I’d respond to that. You HAVE to order at the bar, so if you are not getting service it is because you did not walk up to the bar. Enjoy.

So I hear the ramen or phở is amazing! I have never tried it. The bartenders are quite knowledgeable about their beers. It’s hard if you don’t know a lot about high gravity beers. Their apps hit the spot. I look forward to the fall when I can sot out on the patio ad watch all the fun people walk down Gay Street

Asked for black shin bowl«as spicy as Matt’s spicy bowl» and they delivered. Just ask for spicy and it will be delivered. Other reviews complain that ramen is not made onsite. This is true. But these bowls are unlike anything else available in Knoxville. That are really tasty. Try them. Come to Suttree’s Ramen House.

Delicious revolving beers, old pub atmosphere, pretentious bar backs, and shockingly amazing food… this place is damn near perfect. It’s my Cheers. What else is there to say?

Shin black bowl — the portion of ramen is balanced with the broth but I must warn you, it’s not spicy. It came with sliced small tomatoes, shredded carrots, kimchee, poached egg and pork. As for the serving, you’ll be full off one bowl. I couldn’t help but to notice that they used the packaged Chapagetti. It was microwaved in a bowl, with the broth I assumed, and topped with what you chose. The mandarin buns were not what I thought it was going to be. It was the Mon Tao buns and not the thin buns. I don’t mean to be a stickler but I’m pretty sure this wasn’t steamed on the premise; these are sold frozen for a cheap price. The hummus looked fresh though. It was thick and to my likings. Their pita chips are Stacey’s brand. Overall, I think it’s over priced for packaged ramen. But hey, it’s not sold anywhere else so it’s a pretty good marketing strategy.

Let’s just turn to the last page of the book so you know how this ends. Suttree’s is awesome. The End! Most people love Suttree’s for their various and ever changing high gravity beer options, I am not most people. I like to eat. I really like to eat good food. And a hot bowl of spicy ramen brings me back time and time again. Every time I am here, I peruse the menu as if I might actually try something new off the menu, but I just can’t quit the ramen. The broth gives you the perfect amount of sniffles, each bite you take that you find pulled pork makes you feel like you’ve won a prize, and the topping options are endless(house made kimchi, fresh egg, etc). The portion size is great for even a hungry man’s appetite. I have yet to be able to finish a bowl… but I’m going to keep trying. I’m no quitter. Now, if you find yourself at Suttree’s for their beer, you will not be disappointed. The bartenders pride themselves on their beer knowledge and are eager to help you find an ale that floats your boat, even if that beer is root beer. Be warned, if you’re not a huge beer fan to keep your comments to yourself. The bartenders can be a little snarky. The crowd here seems to vary night to night. Older, younger, hipster, hipstercrite… Suttree’s appeals to all. Keep an eye on their calendar, you may find yourself on a food truck menu take over night, or they could be showing the game on their giant TV in the back, or on trivia night, or on live music night. You see what I’m getting at here? But whatever night you show up, they will have ramen and you should eat it.

I’m a square peg in a round hole when it comes to bars and beer. Not much of a drinker, but love to socialize and eat good food. Suttree’s is a sop notch spot for both. We went intending to get the ramen we’d heard so much about, but I was honestly intrigued by so many more choices on the menu that we’ll have to go back for a bite again soon!

Oh Suttree’s, you are never a disappoint. With the ever changing craft beer available you always have me deciding between five different beers. In turn, I stay to try each one without disappointment. The atmosphere and interior of Suttree’s is rustic and inviting to try all the beers you’ve seen in craft beer stores, but had not enough money to buy six cases. They also serve small plates, I have enjoyed a 3 sampler with hummus and dip and loved it! Also try to stop by when in Knoxville. Conveniently located near the square, so park in the garage if walking about.

My new favorite go to bar for a late night drink. Their taps are always rotating and their food menu seems to be growing. Ramen is now on the menu and I am very interested in trying since Knoxville probably does not have a big ramen culture. If you’re into drinking champers(aka sparkling wine, aka bubbly) try the Julian hard cider. It’s quite nice and an on point recommendation from the bartender. Higher percentage of ABV beers can be found here and the staff knows their stuff. From what I hear, it looks like they had a face lift on the inside and reorganized the interior.
