During our stay at the Grand Hyatt, we had two days at the pool and ate at the Captain’s Bar. This is the bar that sits poolside (near the adult pool) and is open during the day. They will serve you at your pool chairs, cabana, or you can go eat at the bar. The menu items we tried were BBQ Pork Sandwich, Chicken Tenders (kids menu), loaded nachos, and fish tacos. We also tried many of the Mai Tais, Margaritas, wines, and beers on the menu. The servers and bartenders were very nice and had good service time. The service we received at the lower bars at the pool was much slower as they are crowded. Captain’s Bar is a great option for spending a day at the pool at the Hyatt. We didn’t want to leave the property just to have lunch on these two days. The reason for the three stars, is the prices are somewhat high for a poolside restaurant. I found on the second day that the kids menu offered some better prices and portion size for the pool day :)

«Booze with a View»
One of the great things about staying at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai is the pool area. It’s just fantastic. And right in the midst of said pool area on the uppermost part of the gentle slope is Captain’s Bar. With great views of the pool and beach, I enjoyed coming here each day around 4 for a couple of drinks before dinner. With a few screens showing sports and very personable bartenders it was a nice place to relax. I didn’t eat here but the fare looked pretty good from what I could see around me and nobody was complaining either. Really nice spot for cocktails.
