Best happy hour in all the islands! Well that’s how we felt. We were staying next door, and had to walk a little bit through the beach to get over here, but we did it almost everynight.lol. That’s saying something. We loved the fact the tables were so close to the sidewalk, which is so close to the beach. We would often snorkel at Poipu Beach, then shower off and go straight to the bar or get a drink. They have happy hour from 2 – 6 with $ 8 Mai Tais which are super strong! I swear one is good enough, two and the party has started. Never did make it to three.lol. Normally they are $ 12 so good discount on HH. Overall this was our go to spot during our week on Kauai. Amazing view, beach, I’m sure I saw a Monk seal swimming in the water while sitting at a table too. Check this place out if you are in Poipu.

Overlooking the turquoise Pacific Ocean is just the beginning! The Kahlúa Pork sandwich is absolutely wonderful! Bestie, our waitress, is very charming and makes everything come together without a hitch. Plus, the bartender does a decent pour! Thumbs up to the Marriott! Did I mention you can have lunch or dinner in your bathing suit?!

Not the right place for us to come. It felt like more of a retirement center than a resort. The bar was very small with very little sun covered area. Most likely, you will find that all umbrella shaded tables are full, and you will left fully expose to the sun during the hotter lunch hours. The grilled tofu sandwich was not grilled. The chips was red and black; very artificial coloring. Edamame were too oily. Do not recommend.

Come for happy hour! This is a great little hotel bar looking over poipu beach, sleeping monk seals, and has all the classic hawaiann cocktails on for happy hour @ $ 8. And they are definitely tasty and strong. The surprise was that the food was also great. Tried the kalua pork tacos… definitely a must try!

This place has it all. Go to beach, snorkel, surf, or relax. Then order a happy hour drink, hang out by pool or beach. Relax, get a taco and watch the waves or rent a surf board and then have a Pima colada.

Rating them 5 stars for having the best spicy bloody mary on the island, and for having the best fish and chips. They use atlantic haddock instead of ono or mahi mahi for their fish, which is exactly how it should be done. The fish was delicious, and bloody mary and beer by the beach can’t be beat.

This place is awesome! Can’t beat the setting, by the beach at the Marriott in Poipu. Live Hawaiian music watching the sunset. The food is good, although a pretty limited menu, and prices have gone up but it’s still a great choice! Not fancy, but a casual beach bar!

Beautiful setting overlooking the beach! I had sugar shrimp and pineapple skewers and they were amazing. Wife had fish tacos and they were great, the sauce is unreal and I would drink it if I could. Had a great selection of kona beers. They brought out a giant platter of fries for the kids and the staff was very friendly! This place is pricey but worth it for the atmosphere and the view, will be heading back and trying the cocktails!

Great bar– Tony, Jack, Nate and all others make you feel like ohana– prices are reasonable. View of beach and sunsets are amazing. We can’t wait to get back here next year. The nightly music is amazing– Chico and Darren to name a few are great and provide a relaxing atmosphere. Much Mahalos–

Honu Bar is sub par at best. The menu is very limited offering mostly sandwiches and burger averaging about $ 17. They also only come with Maui chips, not fries. We were so disappointed in the lack of options and what you get for the price that we didn’t even order food. We did order two drinks, both mango daiquiris for $ 8 a piece. Not necessarily a great price for happy hour but not surprising for a hotel bar either. We honestly questioned whether or not they even had alcohol. They tasted like a mango smoothie, which was tasty but not sure if it was worth the $ 8. Our waiter was nice but definitely kept things short and sweet and we had to wave him down to get our ticket. The only pros of this restaurant are the views of Poipu beach. It is beautiful and that is what you are paying for. Unless you only care about the view, I would suggest skipping this place!

We were at the Marriott Waihoai for a week so ate at the Honu bar several times. I was generally under whelmed. The pork nachos and Marriot burger were the best on the menu and the Mai Tais are good but seemed expensive… even at happy hour. Also, food isn’t a part of happy hour so… that wasn’t very happy. On the plus side, you can’t beat the beach seating or view, it’s location is fabulous.

Food is mediocre, nothing to write home about. I had the teriyaki chicken sandwich. The grilled chicken was moist and overall it was just as expected. The tomato that was included was the top with the stem end, would think for $ 15 – 16 per meal you would leave that off. Came with chips, no fries or other sides. In my opinion, very overpriced for the quality of the meal. Menu is very limited and the place closes at 7:30PM. The best part of the place is the open air atmosphere, seating and ocean right in front of you.

When you come across this many reviews for a pool bar at a resort hotel, you know it’s a special spot. While waiting to check into our room, we sidled up to welcoming bar stools at the Honu Bar. Strong margaritas were sipped and impressive hotel bar food was devoured — seriously, get the fish tacos. Grilled where you can see them and topped with loads of fresh pineapple and veggies! While my friend was forced to finish up some business on the phone, the vivacious bartender kept me plenty hydrated and also entertained. And with epic views of the gorgeous beach and surrounding coastline, I would’ve been more than content just to sip my drink while taking in the panorama. The visuals are just as arresting as the ones you’ll find at the St. Regis pool bar, and for less than half the room cost! We spent a good amount of time hanging by this lively poolside bar over the weekend, and even got to watch some of the Seahawks vs. Packers game. Oh, and don’t forget happy hour… the $ 8 margaritas are no joke!

Excellent service and tasty pulled pork sandwiches. Good happy hour. A bit pricey and in a busy atmosphere but there are great views and a nice outdoor setting.

Good happy hour so for that we will give 4 stars. We are not strangers to high end quality food and this was not high end just the bill was. My husband, who never says anything about the cost at restaurants, was not to happy with what we ordered to what we received . 6 chicken wings came to $ 1.83 per wing … they were the smallest wings we have ever see. They were plain and come with two sauces. The ribs, a slab of 5, came to $ 3 a rib and came with plain rice. Plain rice with BBQ ribs. huh? The ribs are not BBQed or grilled with the sauce. They were juicy and tender but I felt the sauce right out of the jug ruined them. Back to the plain rice… had no flavor, not even salt, so we added the sauce from the chicken wings to give it any flavor. Service was good and of course you are yon the beach. The food very disappointing for what you pay. A good bar needs good food.

Happy Hour heaven! Hubby found this place after walking up and down Poipu Beach trying to find the perfect place for a sunset photo. He saw the lit tiki torches, which bring him in like a moth to a flame. We hit up Brennecke’s first for their happy hour, which was okay, but we really wanted to try Honu Bar. Sooooo glad we did! It was already dark and after sunset, and it was raining off and on all night, but we were happy to find a great table. Our server, Waikuhe(damn, I think I butchered that, but he knows who he is), was sooo great! When it started to rain again, all the other folks scampered to the covered bar area, but we championed on and sat under a mostly-covered area at our table… come on, it rains for a few minutes, then it stops. Suck it up, people! Our server rewarded us for not moving on him… called us «troopers» for staying at our table. We liked him so much; he’s one of the reasons we came back the very next night! Anyway, the best lava flows we had all week in Kauai! We ordered the kahlua pork nachos and the fish tacos… AWESOME! So filling! And Hubby liked his mai tai a lot. Great drinks, great appetizers, great place… we came back while it was still sunny, and the view of the ocean from our table at Honu Bar was spectacular! We looove Honu Bar, and will most definitely be back when we return to Kauai!

As far as food goes we would rate them three stars. When you’re hungry and don’t want to leave the hotel at fine. The best dish we had was the grilled shrimp and pineapple. The nachos have the potential to be really good but the chips that they use were so thin that they got soggy before you had a chance to get down to them. We also tried the teriyaki chicken bowl and The fish tacos and they were both just fine. What brought the rating up the four stars were their excellent drinks. We tried the dark and stormy piña colada. Both were really good and the dark and stormy came with a piece of candied ginger that made the drink.

Great service. Best bar tender James! They are all willing to accommodate & are so friendly at this bar. Awesome view of the beach. The guava-colada was perfect. Food is ok but a little pricey but the grill is on point! TV are always on to the main sports channels.

HA! I love that I am a «duchess» of this bar. 10 days in Kauai and this place was my favorite. Good, strong drinks and a great bartending staff. We even took a class one day from the resort on how to make their Mai-Tai’s which are definitely the best I have ever had! If you are daring order the Tai-Chi but beware, don’t have more than one. This bar overlooks the ocean and has live music on some nights. A lot of locals come here on the weekend nights as well and I enjoyed meeting a couple. Til next time Honu Bar! :) bar
