I only had drinks here but they were subpar completely overpriced(even for the area) and the atmosphere was stuffy.

Such well sourced and impeccably prepared food. The resort that it is in at Koa Kea is beautiful. They serve an amazing Ahi that is so fresh that it needs nothing on it. Highly recommend and hands down best dining experience on the island.

Let’s keep this simple. The lobster benedict was out of this world! My husband and I also shared the lox and bagel and it was good BUT the lobster benedict… was OUTSTANDING! I think my hubby licked the plate! ALOHA!

This is as good as it gets on kauai. Don’t miss the scallops or the cocktails.

On our last night in Kauai we decided to try Red Salt at Koa Kea. It was a great choice. The food was delicious and presented flawlessly. The seared Ahi was great. The service was excellent as well. Highly recommend Red Salt.

I was expecting a little more from the avocado toast. $ 11 for basically 1 chopped up avocado on a piece of toast without anything else added to it! Husband got the steak and eggs, which was just mediocre.

Definitely DOHAVEDINNER here! (Late December 2015) 5Star Food: top notch ingredients, fresh & very well presented. My wife’s lobster ravioli was one of the Top-10 dishes ever, anywhere; a must try if you like lobster. 5Star Service: We all know that service is often just«luck of the draw» even in great restaurants. Well, we drew a full-house! Our waitress was fantastic! Friendly & knowledgeable of course. But, she was beyond attentive; she was very intuitive with my wife & our friend, helping them choose entrees, and she was almost clairvoyant when it came to checking on us. 4Star Ambiance: We ate in the bar area where they have nice little bistro tables/chairs just outside the main(smallish) dining room. It was a nice mix of light, background activity & garden view(you can see the water during the day). Can’t speak to the atmosphere in the main dining room but, we got a great vibe where we sat.

Oh, yeah. Back again for another quick meal. Yes right next door to where we stay is a super elegant delicious restaurant, Red Salt at the Koa Kea. Love the intimate space and great relaxed atmosphere. Guess what. You can even hear each other talk. Come here for a really really nice meal and a great quiet conversation with your friends or partner. Easy stroll from the Kianhuna Plantation. Plan a special night with first class food and service or just g the bar for some of the best cocktails on the island. Don’t forget fresh sushi is available every night except Sunday and Monday. We will be back for seconds! Two thumbs up.

Really enjoyed our meal at red salt. We had a party of 12 and they accommodated us well. Everyone enjoyed the meal… I will say if you have an appetite, the shrimp fettuccine is the dish for you. I had the crispy tofu and it was delicious… Omnivore restaurants rarely do tofu justice, but they prepared it perfectly with perfectly roasted cauliflower, and I really enjoyed what seemed like a soy sauce caramel that was smeared on the bottom of the plate, and the watermelon gave it that bit of freshness and balance. If you are looking for a fancier meal with a nice atmosphere and good presentation… this is it. We all enjoyed our meal here.

My husband’s omelette was amazing… Very fluffy, cheesy and all the toppings were visible in the omelette. My Benedict on the other hand, it was ok. It barely contained any pancetta, I could literary pick out 3 pieces and that’s it. I was a bit disappointed. Complimentary muffins were good… OJ was good as well… I’m not sure if we’d ever go back here if we make it back to Kauai…

I don’t get the hype of this place. Honestly this was our least favorite breakfast we had while we were in Kauai(tied with McDonald’s — now that’s saying something). We ordered the Eggs Benedict and the Pineapple lemon soufflé pancakes since everyone raves about them. The potatoes with breakfast tasted freezer burned, the poached eggs on my eggs benedict were undercooked and way too runny, and my husband’s soufflé pancakes were just okay. We wouldn’t go back and if we did, we would not try these two things again. It was disappointing especially considering how hard it was to find this little boutique hotel and for the price we paid. I’m guessing we may have just came on an off-day. But even an off-day should’ve never been this big of a disaster. I’d give it one star based on food, but since the place was cute and the service was great, I’ll give it two.

The omelet is the best I’ve had in a long time and would recommend for sure. We also had the lemon pineapple pancakes, these are a must try for everyone. They are light and airy, so not what I was expecting. This meal was a far price for the food we received.

Excellent. We walked from the Sheraton along the beach to the Red Salt café. The walk itself was mind-blowing, with crashing waves, tender sand, and gorgeous rock out-croppings. But once you get to the café, you are presented with an elegant hotel, overlooking pristine gardens with the ocean just beyond. Once you discover the items on the menu, however, you are really in for a treat. My wife and I had the lobster eggs Benedict, and the pineapple soufflé pancake. Both were impeccable. Words cannot describe that«pancake»… It is too amazing and you must experience it for yourself. Do not miss this café, it might be the best restaurant in the area.

Arguably the best meal we had in Kauai during our week-long vacation. The restaurant isn’t over-the-top elegant in its lighting or locale, though the windows face toward the patio, and past that, the ocean. This review is 5 stars because the food was marvelous. The portions were small-to-medium, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Good bread to start comes with the trademark red salt, olive oil and butter. My wife got an Ono in a thai broth that she loved to the point where she used his finger to wipe the plate clean. I had a macadamia, vanilla bean crusted mahi with avocado on a bed of forbidden rice with a citrus sauce(they called it a salsa, but it was not of a chunky variety). Just amazing. I mean, really; flavor was outstanding, the rice was perfect, the fish was cooked just right. On a 6-day stretch where we ate like pigs, this place won the blue ribbon. Chris was a very friendly and thorough server, too, checking on allergies.

This was the location of the best«expensive» meal I had on Kauai. Not terribly more expensive than some other places, this restaurant is the complete deal. Very good service, really creative food(try the mahi with forbidden rice), and a great ambience. I was a bit worried when I realized it was in a hotel, but that was not a problem once I got inside. Desserts here are out-of-this-world. It was out wedding anniversary, and they brought out a special coconut cotton candy for us.(We had already ordered dessert, which we wound up eating, anyhow. But, I do wish they had told us they were doing that before we ordered two desserts.) Definitely worth being your«big meal» when in Poipu.

Love this place. It’s really classy, but totally a beach place too. I walked in and asked if I was ok wearing shorts, and the guy up front said totally, you’ll probably be more comfortable! I got a super tasty and rich burger(ridiculously rich and ridiculously good) — and my wife really enjoyed her tofu dish. I’d go back here for sure!

My wife and I walked next door to our resort to have something different for breakfast and we found it at Red Salt. After being seated along the large windows overlooking the pool area, our server Jessica appeared and warmly welcomed us and took our drink order. The two page menu offered quite a selection of options for breakfast beyond their buffet. My wife picked the Eggs Benedict while I opted for the lemon pineapple soufflé pancakes. We were warned about the pancakes taking 20 minutes to prepare but we pressed on not having any place to be for a while. The dining room is large and spacious with big windows letting in a bunch of light. Before 8am on a Sunday morning, we almost had the place to ourselves with only being two other couples there. My wife had to wonder into the lobby to find a morning paper to help pass the time as none were available in the restaurant while the pancakes were rising in the oven. Right on schedule everything appeared. Both dishes were well presented and looked yummy. The Eggs Benedict has a bit of lemon juice added to take the bite off of the somewhat spicy pancetta leaving just enough heat to make it interesting. My pancakes were very light and fluffy and offered with a coconut style syrup along with a more traditional one. I found the former a little too much when added to this already sweet dish and went old school. We loved our breakfast and enjoyed the change of pace from our home resort.

Cute restaurant inside of the lobby of Koa Kea. The food and the drinks were pretty good and so was the service. We tried a few appetizers, the beet/melon salad, the seafood paella and some fish dish. They were all great. The drinks were awesome specially the one called Shiso hot. Our waiters, Chris and Nic, were great even though Nic got«for sure» stuck in our heads since every response from him included«for sure.» Had breakfast here daily since it was included with the room. The eggs benedict was good, the omelette was all right, the breakfast burrito was missing a few things including flavor, the coffee was weak and tasteless, the fruits at the continental buffet were delicious. What’s awesome is that they prepare breakfast to go if you have plans and don’t want to sit down at the restaurant to eat.

I absolutely love this place! The service is impeccable. the food is exquisite. The atmosphere is refined yet not too snobby. We made reservations here on a random Monday evening at 7 o’clock. the restaurant is small. we were greeted with a great deal of courtesy immediately by the valet and then the maitre d. we were seated in less than a minute by the window. The martinis with gluten free ocean vodka will set you back about $ 20 however they are well worth it. they are about 50 percent bigger than the average martini. I opted for the 50 dollar hamburger which came with football ah a lobster claw and grass fed Wagyu beef. it also had gold leaf truffle butter for the French fries. If you don’t mind dropping a hundred to a hundred fifty dollars a person I highly recommend coming here.

FIRSTIMPRESSIONS Light modern meets dark wood, the restaurant is located inside the Koa Kea hotel lobby. At 9 o’clock, we had a 20 minute wait to be seated. As we walked onto the premises, a few staff members bid us good morning + we stopped to chat a little. Definitely a true Hawaiian welcome. Once seated, our server brought us some fresh blueberry muffins with cinnamon butter, but then immediately asked us what we’d like to order. Felt a little hurried or pushy for an establishment like this. THEEATS We chose to split the Three Egg Omelette with spinach, mushroom, + cheddar. The kitchen actually plated the dish in two portions for us. Each plate came with a side of their home fries + two ramekins with Sriracha + ketchup(two of our favorite condiments). We also received two slices of multigrain wheat toast, soft butter, + strawberry preserves. Overall a delicious plate of food, shared, makes for the perfectly sized breakfast portion. THEVERDICT GO check this place out for the décor, the food, + the wonderful ambiance. Service was mostly pleasant, though I believe our experience was the exception, as the other servers all seemed more genuinely friendly. But all in all, a fantastic first breakfast on my island vacation.
