They were doing well on a Thursday evening but fortunately we were still seated quickly. First they bring out garlic bread which is really really good. Then we started with fried mozzarella and mussels, which were both also very delicious. I ordered the rigatoni and marinara sauce which I really enjoyed. My boyfriend’s meal came with a side of penne vodka which was amazing, and I’d definitely recommend. Another guest got the lobster ravioli which was also really good. We also all shared a small pizza which was okay too. Our service was really friendly and great as well. It is more on the expensive side, but we had a nice time and I hope to return again. Also they’re BYOB, so make sure you bring a bottle of wine or two when you come for dinner.

Chicken parm and pizza was, well, awful. But the service was great, so giving this one two stars.

Lucky to go with my cousin on a Tuesday night .no wait! Awesome garlic knots! Place smells soooo good and the food matches it. I had delicious white clams sauce with linguine. Mmmmmm! Loaded with fresh clams and yummy sauce. I liked that our waitress asked if everything tasted good, not the routine«is everything ok?» It felt like she really wanted to make sure. Too bad I live in New York City or I would be here all the time!

I knew it would be good. People waiting to get in. Bustling dining room. I was picking up take out. I was right. My son loved his ravioli and meatballs. The sub I ordered was fantastic. Chicken cutlet with broccoli rabe. Super delicious! Great job From The Boot

Just like everyone said, the garlic knots are friggin ridiculously bangin. I’ve heard some people do not like the noise level. It is true, it can be loud, but I look at this place more like a family style place to eat with everyone just enjoying themselves and having good conversation. This would not be a good place for a first date or «romantic» dinner. This place is for the locals and we love it. If its too loud for you, just get some take out from T’dori — and free up a table for us locals. We like it better that way.

Wanted to try something new, so we found on Unilocal with 4 stars. What’s up, people??? Family of 4 and here is what we ordered: pasta fagoli soup — very peppery and the farfalle was overcooked; fried calamari — the breading was not seasoned and the serving was minimal(and no lemons!); eggplant appetizer which was good but could use more eggplant and less cheese; pasta bolognese(which they make with cream) — SO over peppered that we had to send back; pasta nicola — not bad; we also had one of their sandwiches which was mediocre. The wait staff were courteous and attentive. The atmosphere was casual and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals(maybe we should have ordered pizza?) but be careful in the winters(this night it was in the 40s) as every time the front door opened we felt a chill come in(can’t imagine what it would be like when it’s freezing outside!). We paid our very expensive bill and left without ordering dessert. We have had much more wonderful meals elsewhere, homemade pasta, etc and paid the same. Will not return.

Great Italian restaurant only minutes from my daughters home. Have driven by many times but never stopped in. Very happy we stopped today. My wife son in law and grandson really enjoyed our lunch here. Our super friendly and attentive server brought out an order of garlic knots which were delicious. My grandson scarfed three right off the bat. We all had the $ 8 lunch special. Soup or salad with a half sandwich. We all had the tasty pasta fagioli and shared a order of simply fried calamari in a very lite batter. I had a chicken cheesesteak full of chunks of chicken breast and American cheese. Next time I will ask if they would put provolone. My son in law enjoyed his chicken parmigiana and the wife could barely finish her half Italian hoagie full of top quality prosciutto sopressata and provolone. Each served on excellent Italian bread. After I told the server my grandson loved the garlic knots she gave us some to take home. Simple no frills delicious Italian and also byob. Will make this a regular stop.

They were more than accommodating to our walk-in party of 5 + a baby on a Sunday night. As always, they provided great service and food during a very busy dinner rush. Hostess kept us constantly updated on our tables’ status as we waited, going above and beyond to make our wait a comfortable one. Always our go-to for family get-togethers!

Two times within two weeks… that I’ve visited From The Boot. Stop your judging!!! :P My first visit to FTB was with a group of my girlfriends last week. As garlic knots are already rewarded to you for just stopping by, we opted out of ordering appetizers. I went with the Monte Carlo pasta — calamari, mussels, and shrimp in a white wine garlic sauce(I’m a seafood and garlic fanatic). To be honest, I had higher hopes for this dish(quality of the squid and the way it was cooked could’ve been done better), but it was pretty good overall. After 1.5 garlic knots in and a few bites of my pasta order, I was beyond full. I did place a take-out order for the Mr. — got him a salad with calamari in a lemon vinaigrette. Well, it certainly wasn’t their best. Didn’t taste like much(vinaigrette was so watered down) and again, the calamari wasn’t of the best quality. It ended up sitting in our fridge for three days before we realized we weren’t going to eat it(despite our best intentions). During my second visit, I ordered the ravioli with marinara for my son and a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp for myself. Ethan seemed to like his pasta(you can ask him for his review of FTB yourself if you’d like), and I definitely enjoyed my Caesar salad. Though simple, it had a proportionate amount of dressing and VERY tasty, large perfectly grilled shrimp. For $ 16, it still could’ve been better(like have more shrimp), but I still enjoyed it! I tried a bite of the crab mac and cheese — amazing. Very cheesy and good, solid chunks of crab— mmm! Wish I ordered it myself! Solid spot to serve your hankering for Italian… And truly, some of the best garlic knots I’ve had. Ever. and just remember, have no shame in ordering two rounds of garlic knots and toasting them together with your group — they are worth celebrating!

Great little restaurant in Lafayette Hill. This is the perfect place to take a date to: it’s quiet, charming and BYOB so you don’t have to break the bank. Garlic knots are simple but amazing. The filet was great and huge and was cooked to perfection for a medium rare. The waiters don’t bother you every two seconds so you can spend the time with your friends. I have been there several times and have recommended the place several times. P.S: tiramisu!!!

I studied abroad in Rome and this is some of the best Italian food I’ve had since my time there! The calamari was a great start and the caesar salad followed by the shrimp scampi were just amazing. Also, the garlic knots are so good. I found the prices to be very reasonable for the high quality of food. I live in DC and can’t wait to go back the next time I am in the Philly area.

Second visit and first review. Have to give it a five because it is among the best of its genre. I don’t give many fives. Neat ambiance at Lafayette Hill, great food and great service. This is the kind of place that makes it difficult to think about going somewhere else for dinner. I haven’t eaten everything on the menu, but I have never been disappointed. The simple things are good and fresh. Perfectly seasoned and prepared. This is good.

Stopped by here for lunch on a weekend. I got chicken piccata which usually comes with a salad and potatoes. They had just recently opened and the waitress asked if she could substitute pasta for my potatoes since they weren’t ready yet. I didn’t mind. my dish was delicious. My husband had a chicken parm sandwich and fries. both were good as well. Service was great, and there was no wait on the weekend. Can’t complain!

Came here for my parents 39th wedding anniversary and it was perfect! It’s not easy to accommodate a group of 8 plus a baby, but they made it work and we had a blast! The food is incredible and the service is even better. Liz was our waitress, and she killed it! Awesome waitress, even better person ;). She even chilled and served our champagne to us(along w baskets of bread and garlic knots) while we waited for our table. I could make a meal out of the garlic knots alone, but we ordered a variety of apps, entrees and desserts and enjoyed every single dish. This place is great, can’t wait to come back!

We went here on Tuesday night for dinner, and can happily report that it was hands down some of the best Italian food I have ever had. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by a friendly hostess and told we would expect to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Unfortunately they do not take reservations, so you should expect some sort of wait(given how incredible their food is and how dedicated their clientele appears to be). On the weekends it can be upwards of an hour or more depending on the time, etc.(based on my first attempt to dine here several months back). We were seated in what they refer to as the back of the restaurant, which is more of a side room with about 8 – 10 tables. This was nice as it was slightly more private than the main dining room when you first walk into the restaurant. Our server was Nyesha and she was top notch from beginning to end. She was knowledgable about the menu, its offerings and ingredients, very timely, and incredibly friendly. She helped make the experience an even better one. After diving into the garlic knots(which were fresh and flavorful, and left you yearning for more), we started off with several appetizers– bruschetta, meatballs, and fried mozzarella. I would say the bruschetta was the best I have ever had given the freshness of the tomatoes and the flavor in each bite. The fried mozzarella melted in your mouth. The meatballs were good, but the other two apps overpowered them. For our entrees we had the lobster ravioli siciliano and penne bolognese. The ravioli were spinach stuffed with lobster meat, smothered in vodka sauce, prosciutto, and red onion– absolutely fantastic. Would order it again in a heartbeat. The penne dish was fresh and the sauce had more meat than your typical bolognese sauce which usually runs thin on it. While usually a fairly quick eater, I took my time with this meal and savored every bite as it was that good. There were so many unique flavors with each mouthful that I had to. I left with a feeling of satisfaction that drew me to offer this recommendation. The ambiance, service, price, number of offerings, and most importantly the quality/taste of the food is phenomenal. I had always heard good things about this restaurant and now I know why. To say I would return again would be an understatement– I will be a frequent visitor needless to say. Go!

The fresh baked garlic rolls to start off is delicious. Fresh bruschetta and mozzarella incredible. Filet mignon medium rare is pure sex in the mouth. The small atmosphere makes you feel at home in moms kitchen.

My gf and I had dinner here to tonight and I was thoroughly impressed with it. Service was excellent and the pizza was AMAZING! We were in a terrible mood because we had just walked out of the UNOs down the road because of the horrible service(and I never walk out of places but that place left me no choice). But 2 mins in from the boot made me realize this place was 100x better. I will def be going back.

I love From the Boot. There is something to be said about their consistency, every time we go I have a really good meal. First, they bring you warm garlic rolls. If you don’t like garlic, these won’t be your thing but they are delicious! We always get the pasta fagioli soup which is homemade and one of my favorite soups. We have had a variety of dishes, from pasta to chicken and don’t have any complaints. The employees and always so friendly! It is BYOB too. It does get crowded so expect a wait of you go later than 645 on the weekend.
