Awesome food. Awesome service. Huge coffee thermos on the table. My kinda place. Cute, friendly waitresses and cheap to boot!

A 5 star breakfast from this small restaurant. I ordered 2 eggs over easy, smoked sausage, grits, and a home style biscuit. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear my grandmother was back there cooking. It was the best I’ve had in a good while. Friendly and courteous staff, great family atmosphere, reasonable prices, grandma style food. I can’t wait to try dinner here. There are always great places to eat in Lafayette. T-Coon’s is no exception to the rule.

One of my favorite places to visit when visiting Lafayette from California. Besides the beignets that I crave, they have one of the best sausage patties I have ever tasted!

Food like I cook! Smoked sausage omelette was great! Wanted to try the homemade bread. It couldn’t pass on the biscuit, good choice. I’m from out of town but wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Pot of coffee in the table and the waitstaff was just right.

Nothing bad to say. Very good breakfast and burgers. A large variety to choose from and willing to add items or omit to satisfy your cravings.

Hadn’t been here in many years, and not a thing seems to have changed. Ordered the sweet potato pancake with pecans and a breakfast sausage patty, which is the size of a half pound burger patty practically. Both were good as expected. One thing I really like is when you order a cup of coffe, they just bring you an entire pump pot full and just leave it on your table so you can refill as you please. Only drawback is that it’s Mellow Joy coffee, which isn’t so great. Overall though, still a solid little local spot, and a good place to get breakfast.

Ok. I finally made a stop in here mostly due to the good comments I saw on Unilocal. First, if you drive by the place you will notice an old looking storefront in a strip mall off an intersection. The outside could use some updating. Inside, the restaurant is a little dated and rustic, but it has some character and a friendly atmosphere. We came in just before 11am which is the transition time between breakfast and lunch. My wife and I both decided on breakfast. Overall the food was decent but I wasn’t blown away. The cooking is all fresh and homemade but the presentation was lacking a bit compared to many of the other local breakfast stops like B & Spoon, Broken Egg, etc. The service was good considering how busy it was and the food came rather quickly, both are pluses. For now, I give the food a 3.5, atmosphere a 3, food and value a 4 and the appearance a 3. That teeters me between a 3 and a 4 and since I wasn’t wow’d, I will offer a 3 overall. We will come back and try some of the lunch items which included shrimp, catfish, crawfish, burgers and many sandwich items.

I think I’m in love. Just had breakfast here for the first time and it was literally everything I look for in a breakfast joint. When a place filled with families and kids and local, ordinary folk, it’s always a good sign. The staff was warm and friendly and had a cup of coffee in front of me practically before I even realized I wanted one. I got the T-Coon’s Special breakfast plate which came with a massive hamburger patty smothered in browned onions and cheese(you could request grass-fed beef for a $ 2 surcharge: a nice socially conscious touch), 2 eggs any style, grits or hashbrowns or oatmeal, and toast or a biscuit. SOMUCHFOOD. Massive, delicious, flavorful portions served very quickly. Eggs were cooked just as I liked and seasoned with a delicious house-made spice blend(«The Stuff!»). So often grits are super bland and clumpy and kinda gross, but T-coon’s grits were nicely salted and just buttery enough to make Paula Dean proud. Toast was nice thick pieces, but a little too soggy and greasy for my liking(thought I still ate both pieces). The gentleman at the table next to me got a humongous omelette, which is what I’ll probs get next time(tomorrow?). And the family on the other side of me had the brilliant, and I mean BRILLIANT idea to just order beignets and bacon– which sounds like a majestic combination. Will be back!

Ok… came here with my man and we were sat down immediately and our waitress took our order as soon as we sat down. The ambience was very chill. No music but just people talking but it wasnt loud. Our waitress was ok. Not over friendly but not rude. We shared the crayfish omelette amd a pancake. This omelette came with grits and a biscuit. The omelette was big and had a generous amount of crawfish in it. grits were good. And the biscuit was nice and thick. I will definitely come back. But next time I want to try the lunch menu. Very flavorful.

Driving through southwest Louisiana mid morning looking for a local café to have breakfast we found ourself in the heart of Acadian and landed here at T Coons Restaurant, I know what a name right well you first need to understand you’re in «Cajun» country and growing up one hour east of here I fully understand and love the culture, the people, the food and the music. So the name doesn’t surprise me and should never be offensive, this is my unofficial interpretation of the name«T» means«little» and«Coons» references to a Coonass, or Coon-ass used in reference to a working class person of Cajun ethnicity. Most of the people in the area consider the term a compliment or badge of honor and some proudly boast they are a «registered coon-ass», there are many opinions to the origin of the slang but believe me in all my life I’ve never heard it spoken in a negative way and if you ever have the pleasure of meeting the owner of this self proclaim Zydeco restaurant you’ll immediately see that’s the case here, oh mon Dieu, ce est un restaurant vraiment cajun. So as we entered I immediately felt the warm and friendly vibe of local friends laughing, joking and enjoying a meal together, along with the fragrances of the food being prepared in the kitchen. The owner and staff were interacting with their friends on this Saturday morning, because everyone visiting here are considered friends, just as we were even though this was out first visit, that’s one of the beautiful things I love about the people of Louisiana and this culture. If I had just wanted a bacon and eggs breakfast I could of stopped anywhere but I knew the options here would include those typical offerings along with some that no one should miss if given the opportunity to experience. We chose the left side of the restaurant which serves up the good stuff, the right side has servers that allows you to order at the table, but this side requires you grab a tray and slide it along the steam table filled with the foods only found in this part of the world that are prepared using authentic seasonings and fresh ingredient from the region. Here are a few of the awesome dishes we chose for breakfast as strange as they may sound for breakfast fare they were all amazing and made for a memorable experience we’ll never forget. Spicy Crawfish Étouffée — Jambalaya — Cajun Seasoned Fried Chicken and hot fresh out of the oven yeast rolls yes this was home cooking at its best, to wash it down we enjoyed a bottomless cup of «Mellow Joy» coffee a local coffee that started in 1936 and served locally though the 1970’s and revived in early 2000 there’s nothing like it, it was a real joy to see that it’s back. This is a place you must experience, the people, the food, the atmosphere all five stars.

Went for breakfast while driving through to TX. Pretty legit. Authentic Cajun culture. Beignets, Mello Joy coffee and good biscuits. The Special was Smothered Rabbit need I say more? Service was great. I’d go back.

Was recommended to this eatery by a desk attendant at the nearby Choice Suites, which was a strong 5 star stay. We came about 8:15AM and were told to chose any seat, restaurant was about at 70% capacity it would seem. The waitress was incredibly quick, cheerful, and was patient with my slightly disgruntled fiancé. We received our drinks less than 2 minutes after sitting, even as busy as she was. Food was delicious. I had a pancake and the beignets which are cooked more to the New Orleans style. Fiancé had a platter of everything. I would definitely recommend to any passerby for a damn good authentic breakfast that’s putting money in a mom and pops pocket and not a chain stores. Clientele all seemed to be regulars, were nice, and the atmosphere was inviting.

Okay… I had reservations about this place, but I may have had the best shrimp sandwich of my life. I wanted to try out a shrimp on wheat, so I honestly didn’t have high hopes, but omg I was wrong!!! The bread was thick and toasted and the shrimp were fried to perfection and so flavorful. I was not disappointed at all. Loved it. This location has a cafeteria style set up on entering. You can pick your entrée(unless you ordering a sandwich or something), but the hot food section has all typed of things from gumbo to red beans and more. You pay at the counter before going to your table. Upon reaching your table there are friendly waitresses! This place can accommodate groups. It’s a definitely bigger location than it looks on the outside. Parking. There is parking in a lot, can get a little crowded at lunch time, but you should find something.

First off let me give this place the FIVESTARS for having good fulfilling and flavorful GUMBO!!! Now let me get started. Being that I am from New Orleans I had no big expectations for food in Lafayette at All. Sorry, My Mistake Folks! when i tell you walking in you can smell that Aroma of delicious Seasoned food in the air, I thought I was dreaming! I was on overload on all the soulfood dishes that they had I really couldn’t choose just one thing so i through a wildcard out and got the gumbo. Now I am always mostly disappointed with this dish because o one does the dish right or it’s always missing something. Let me tell you they served the dish Justice Folks!!! I was so impressed with the flavor I can still taste the aroma on my tongue. I was soooo full!!! My gumbo came with bread and sweet yams!!! When I tell you a major Plus!!! I wish I could give the place fingers!!! I love this gumbo folks!!! I loved the old artifacts and signs on the walls of the place. I had a lot to look at. I’s cafeteria style so you walk up get your drink, then let the staff know what you want to eat, then you get food on the tray and you have a seat with the goodness! Really good food folks! I need to plan a trip where i just go out there for food!

The food is great down home cooking! Crawfish omelet is great and the biscuits are home made. Can’t wait for my next visit to Lafayette to try lunch! The beignets were mouthwatering. My husband loved the coffee!

Wooow! Quick breakfast so far. I order the Crawfish Omelette. According to the waitress is the most popular breakfast dish due to a «Famous Tomatoes Souce“If you want to try something different and you are not from this are this will make a difference. They also have a home made toast which was good. Needs improvement in the oatmeal no so much.

Excellent place for breakfast. I got the breakfast plate with their smoked sausage, eggs and grits. Mellow Joy is the coffee brand and its rich flavor is welcome. The beignets are second best in Louisiana(Café du Monde is número uno) and they don’t scrimp on the powdered sugar. Mr T-Coon himself came out to our table and joked with us and even bussed a dish or too.

Must stop in Lafayette. Sweet potato pancakes with steen’s syrup(ask for it) is simply the best. Unlimited coffee — carafe sits on your table; pour some steen’s syrup in it for pure coffee bliss. The T coon special with fried eggs will fill you up all day and is comfort food at it’s finest. If you can manage to roll away from the table, head next door to pouparts bakery for some pastries to go.
