I’m writing this review based on two separate 5-night stays at Cobble Mountain Lodge — a year apart — in the summer. The first stay with them was decent. The scenery was beautiful, the rustic cabin décor very quaint, and the proximity to Lake Placid very handy. We stayed in Cabin 9, which was tidy and had enough amenities to meet our needs. We received daily housekeeping service for trash removal and clean towels. It was not quite high-end comfort, but suitable enough for us. The SECOND visit, however, was less than stellar. We stayed in Cabin 11, and despite it being non-smoking, there were cigarette burns on the comforter, threadbare(actually see-through) towels in the bathroom, torn shower curtain liners, burned dishtowels, dirty utensils, and absolutely NO housekeeping service. Quite a disappointment.

Clean friendly comfortable great view of Mountains snow shoes across the street you can cross country there too. Not fancy at all but a great place to lay your head. Close to everything. I would suggest bringing your own pillows. The lodge could be updated but it is very clean.

If you’re low-maintenance, this place is great and will allow you to spend your money enjoying the many activities Lake Placid has to offer. If you are a princess, you many want to spend two to three times as much money on an upscale hotel closer to Main Street.

This is my first review on a place rather than a restaurant but I just have to review this place as I was very pleased with it! Called the place, and was quoted such an awesome price, nothing beats it. Usually motels are a bit dirty, filled with cobwebs, spiders etc. But this one, omg… it was sparkly clean and not to mention, no cobwebs in sight or a single spider. I was so happy!!! Usually I tense up but I was able to relax and enjoy the room. Definitely staying here agin!!! Simple and clean! Although the décor is pretty funny /awesome in some ways. We had this HUGEMURAL of an eskimo with sleigh dogs looking at a cabin with mountains in the background. Pretty funny but we truly enjoyed it. Also there were 2 twin beds in the room, and there are headboards attached with really old school paintings, one was Lake Placid words over a sunset and the other one was figure skaters LOL.

I stayed here six months ago in cabin nine, and this time I stayed in cabin 19. There are pictures for each cabin on their website, so I’ll skip any detailed description of the rooms, but I will say that they were both nice. The rooms were clean when we got there, and any time the maids cleaned it they did a good job. There is a large fire pit in the rear of the property with plenty of seats for any amount of people. They have free internet, cable, and a large collection of DVDs to borrow if there’s nothing to watch on the complimentary cable. Cobble Mountain Lodge is very close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough away to feel remote and not be annoyed by the hustle and bustle of the town. The owner is friendly not only when he’s doing business, but also when he’s in town. We ran into him at Zig Zag’s and had a nice conversation with him about Lake Placid among a myriad of other things.

I love this place. I love the charm, the clean rooms, and the pricing. They even cater to people with dogs. Five extra dollars a day for your puppy and plenty of room for them to play outside. My dog mingling with the other dogs staying there. Every time I brought her inside the cabin she would cry to go outside to play again with her puppy play dates.
