Went here for my birthday, my entrée was free with the purchase of a other of equal or higher value. The service was slow, and the gratuity is fixed at 18% for birthdays or parties over 8. It’s about 30 $ a plate for the low end stuff on the menu, not counting drinks. It’s alright, probably won’t come back.

I have been going here since the 80’s. It has been thru different management and names. It has always had great food and it seems to get better with time. I have never been and had a problem that couldn’t be solved quickly and to my satisfaction. It is truly timeless and one of the best steaks you will get anywhere.

My wife and I came here for the Fathers Day special. I had the T-Bone with the loaded potato. The steak was cooked to perfection and had the right flavor. It was cooked medium with the right level red in the middle. Management was very accommodating as my wife’s pork chop was undercooked and they gave us an additional loaded potato and order of sautéed mushrooms. This is the second time I’ve been here and it’s worth the occasional trip.

Stopped by because I was in the area for work. Service was fine. No problem with that. The food? That’s another story. The salad was loaded with the flavor of olives. I hate olives. My filet was tough. I think they over cooked it. Prices were too high for what you get. No hamburger options too. Nope. We will drive by next time.

After all the hype I figured I would have to try it out. Normally when I passed by there the place looks swamped. like I want no different had to wait for table which is normal for a good restaurant. When we were seated we got sat in the way back actually weird little bathroom. Seem like the whole time we were diningpeople were in and out of the bathroom and of course so is there smells. we had a mail server and he was very good the food not good at all for them our money we spent felt like it was frozen food that was stuck in the microwave. I would recommend maybe more of a National chain restaurant for a steakhouse in Lakeland like Longhorn or outback.

We arrived in Lakeland last night and this place was highly recommended by the hotel. The salad that came with the meals was less than desirable. The lettuce looked like it had been sitting out all day and had a very bland taste. Once our meals arrived, the steaks weren’t anything special and were bland as well. My wife didn’t even finish hers and the service was slow as well. I shouldn’t have to ask twice for sweetener when it should come out with the tea or be on the table already. Trying to get a refill was just as challenging. Honestly, I could go to any of the very popular chain steakhouses or restaurants and get a better meal for less money. The prices don’t reflect the quality they portray. We won’t be back.

I had one of the best meals I’ve ever had here. We live an hour away and my in-laws were in town. We were looking for a place to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and they had mentioned this place. They are here 30 years ago and remembered it. I can see why! Our waiter, Kyle was awesome. He was super knowledgeable and very friendly. He told us all about the history of the restaurant and where the steaks came from. He suggested a wine for my mother in law that was amazing. I ordered the 6 oz filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly oh I forgot the yummy salad and amazing bread they start you out with. We also ordered fried green tomatoes as an app and they were very good! After the meal the waiter brings out and the yummy looking cakes and pies and explains each one like they are pieces of art. I ordered the chocolate cake and let me tell you, it was amazing. I keep using the word amazing because it really was. There was 6 of us all together and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the experience. Highly recommended.

Our experience started when I called the restaurant to tell them we’d be early– I was put on hold before we got in the car and was still on hold when I walked into the restaurant which took about 10 minutes. The girls up front were unapologetic. We were sat & greeted promptly but after that the service was beyond slow. The server forgot the blue cheese on all of the steaks, and the macaroni and cheese(we never received it but were charged for it). When it came time for dessert– we asked to see the dessert plate and for a to go box– which we waited about 10 minutes for and had to remind our server that we were waiting. The chocolate cake is infused with Grand Manier which we only found out after we tasted and asked why it was orange-y. After our experience, I would go to a chain steakhouse before here again.

Don’t know where to start, salad dressing options only Italian absolutely no flavor like eating ice berg lettuce after you washed it, our table ordered 3 steaks all cooked wrong the NY strip was a ‘first cut’ no seasoning, after they tried to cook them correctly all they did was charbroil the outside. For the price it was way out of line for the quality $ 175 for 4 of us.(No alcohol) The good, it is a large cut of meat…

I have been eating here since i was a kid. 38 yrs old now and still call this my favorite steak house. I think for me its the wood grilled steaks and the simple house dressing salad that does it for me. Not to mention the the huge Cajun fried mushrooms and cheesey bread too. Its not the fanciest inside but it is nice to sit outside on the porch over seeing Lk Mirror. I highly recommend this place to real steak lovers. No steak sauce needed at this place for sure. Oh and No Ranch dressing either cause the house dressing pairs perfectly with the steaks.

Our server Ashley was great, appetizers and entrees came out super fast. Wish there was more options for desert but the apple pie was wonderful with ice cream on the side. The Manager checked on us which is always great. I will always return here when I want steak.

I had the Cedar Plank Salmon. The salmon was so juicy with the melted cheese smothered on it. YUM! Definitely recommend it for salmon/fish lovers! For the side is chose the mashed potatoes that went awesome with the salmon.

I’m sad to have to write this as I love anything that represents Texas — being a Texas native. My husband surprised me with a birthday dinner here… but we never got to eat. We arrived on time, and we still had to wait — even having a reservation. Then we were seated in a dark corner by the server area. Meaning, this is where all the servers come to refill drinks and grab dirty rags… so it had a little smell and really wasn’t the ideal location for a birthday dinner. We asked to move, we were moved alright — to the VERY far back of the restaurant in the corner again. Meanwhile, we walked past nicer seating locations to get placed in the dark, then moved to the back corner of the restaurant. That really turned me off. Especially when my husband told them we were there celebrating my birthday dinner. Needless to say, we figured it wasn’t worth it so we walked out before being helped. I would’ve loved to try my birthday steak dinner, but walked out disappointed and went to a steakhouse where the steaks are good, but the service is top notch. The view of the lake was nice and we planned on spending the evening around the area but this really turned us away.

Great place, great staff, great food. What’s not to love? This was my second visit here after seeing a play at the Lakeland Community Theatre. This restaurant is very authentic and has a nice old-fashioned small town appeal. Their menu is relatively small(which I love!) and the atmosphere really feels like a restaurant that you’d find on the side of a desolate highway in rural Texas. Yet bustling with locals and tourists! It is very large which I had not noticed until we were seated way in the back, weaving through several different rooms before arriving at our table. This place is clean as are the restrooms. I will once again mention how amazing the staff treats customers. We walked in around 10:40pm on a Friday night when they close at 11pm. There is nothing else around within this part of Lakeland that stays open any later. We had driven from Tampa and were starving after the play. I will not forget how readily the staff welcomed us in at the last minute. The food was fantastic! The first time I visited, I only tried the Escargot(which btw were delightful and less than $ 7). I ordered them again tonight, along with the jalapeño mac and cheese. ERMAHGERD so rich and tasty! Only $ 3.75! My fellow gentleman diners ordered the fried green tomatoes as well as the filet special with crab topping, smashed potatoes and hollandaise asparagus. Everything was amazing! Although I technically ordered an appetizer and a side as my ‘dinner’, the waiter still brought me a house salad and I enjoyed their cheesy biscuits before my food came out. My next meal here will definitely be a steak(due to my no meat Lenten Friday rule, I was devoted to staying away from the steak this time around). Though I’ll be honest, I’m starting to feel, hours later, that Escargot may qualify as meat. Hmmmmmm… WWJD? I think he would have thoroughly enjoyed those snails. Just a note, the Texas Rose blue drink(their version of a massive 32 oz blue margarita) is only $ 10. It is incredibly sweet and packs quite the liquor punch. I couldn’t finish it! And that says a lot because I consider unfinished drinks to be ‘alcohol abuse’. I cannot stress enough how kind and attentive the staff was to our late coming table. We were not rushed. We were served promptly. Food was cooked perfectly. And to top it all off, we were given tons of smiles and thank you’s from the staff on our way out. Despite being the last people out of the restaurant. I will DEFINITELY return. And I hope you do too. This place deserves recognition!

Took the wife here for Valentines day dinner. Not the first time we ate here but the last for sure. You don. t expect a paper place mat of a picture of what you’re about to eat for a $ 40 meal. Our food came out about an hour after we ordered. It was cold and not worth feeding it to my dog! The manager only offered to have it warmed up. If it wasn’t worth eating the first time what makes him think it was worth it the 2nd or 3rd. We paid the $ 82 bill and $ 35 for the bottle of $ 8 wine and left. I had to take the wife for fast food on the way home. We enjoy fine dinning and have paid as much as $ 250 for an evening meal. Do yourself a favor and drive into Tampa. The picture on their place mat should be one of a horse.

Located next to the beautiful Mirror Lake this unique steak restaurant offers a full menu of prime hand cut steaks and seafood dishes. This is a destination restaurant. For a middle-of-no-where location, we had an outstanding meal. We did not expect an upscale ambiance or a creative culinary feast. This is a 45 year old steakhouse serving mostly local diners. If you are looking for a great meal at a great price the Texas Cattle Company is, hands down, the place I would drive hours to go to. The steaks are seared and cooked in a wood burning stove vs a grill giving it a smoked taste. The Filet Mignon was cooked a perfect medium rare and very tender and juicy. The Lobster was flavorful and tender — served with warm butter sauce. The side of Red Skin Mashed Potatoes was also really flavorful and creamy. The Cajun Fried Mushrooms were addictive, perfectly tender on the inside and nicely crispy on the outside. The mushrooms had a nice but not overpowering kick from the Cajun spices. Finish your meal with one of their many fine deserts, especially the carrot cake! But best of all was the service that was efficient and friendly, especially Kyle. Just go! Try it you’ll like it. Enjoy.

This is my second review of this wonderful restaurant during my Unilocal life. This review is based on my current visit back in early August 2015. Once again, everything was perfect: staff, food, prices, drinks, atmosphere, interior design, and overall experience. I ordered the Cowboy steak along with the truffle sauce. It was delicious!!! The Blue Texas Rose drink is a must try for one or to share. I highly recommend ordering a steak since this is what the restaurant is famous for. The deserts are delicious as well. You must try this place if you are in the area. Also, they will give you a free steak dinner for your birthday 18 and over for Florida residents only. This place has never let me down.

Their rib eye steak with truffle butter I’m a steak snob and this steak was amazing. Seasoned well, grilled with charcoal loveliness, the truffle butter was to die for, and the mashed potatoes also yummy. Both mine and my friends steaks were slightly overdone — more medium than med rare. Bartender(blonde w braided pigtails) was SUPER. Drinks were great but too sweet and too weak for my tastes. Chicken fried bacon was underwhelming.

On my second trip with my son, I ordered the lobster tail and the Cowgirl Steak(hey, don’t laugh) it was a decent sized steak! The steak was as good as I thought, but this time and I would highly suggest for you to try the Chicken Fried Bacon for the appetizers. I would probably be satisfied with just the lobster and fried bacon — but I’m in a steakhouse — so the steak made it through the same show! Needless to say everything I ordered was excellent! My son ordered a rib eye steak with mushrooms! He loved it! So you have two carnivores loving their game! On this trip the service was a tad bit slower than my first experience — probably because of Spring-Breakers in town!
