WHY is it always so effing dirty here!!! The tables, the chairs, the floors, the bathrooms… I watched an employee who makes sandwiches pick up chunks of mud off the floor while wearing his gloves. He was the same guy who later brought out our food. Given how filthy this place is, I cannot help but wonder if he took off the gloves, washed his hands then donned new gloves? Also, is ANYONE happy to work here? Everyone always looks so miserable. The warm sandwiches included warm lettuce and warm tomatoes. Suffice to say that’s already not pleasant but it also made the bread soggy. The cookie my toddler wanted(I split it with him) was so awful I spit it out in a napkin. We will never come back.

Solid choice for subs in the Lakeway/Lake Travis area. I’m more a fan of Jimmy Johns, but they lack hot subs. Firehouse does a better-than-average meatball, and a horribly named but very good pastrami-corned beef sub called the ‘Steamer’.(Yeah, for those of you from the East Coast, stop snickering.) Definitely worth a stop. This place gets 4 stars on the ‘CTJ Scale’, as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a meal here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus’ Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn’t have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn’t have my penultimate supper here, either.

As a lover of awesome subs this is the best place in central Texas. Friendly, courteous staff, excellent choice of Subs and outstanding clean facilities. This will be our go to place for subs in Austin, try them… you’ll like them, trust me!

I have eaten at other Firehouse locations and I feel they are all quality. This review is intended for a single location in Lakeway. I walked in, took a brief moment to remember which sandwich is my favorite then approached the order counter with no line in front of me. An older gentleman, with what I believe was an accent, appeared to be the person who would recieve my order was giving some direction to some employees.(I indicate that he had an accent for purposes of specificity, not to ridicule him in any way.) I waited for him to acknowledge me. I am a large-framed and tall person, so I’m quite sure I was visible. Just then, someone else walks in the front door and the gentleman behind the counter immediately strikes up a conversation, takes this person’s order and allows him to pay and continues to ignore my presence. Which was fine. I left. I guess I did not know the secret code. Please don’t patronize such an establishment. If customer service is this poor, imagine how your food is handled.

Absolutely positive I will not be back to this location. And if this says anything about how the others are,(I have only been to this one) then I’m not going to eat at them either. I have found myself here twice and the first time their attitude was the problem. But just now I ordered 2 sandwiches and went out back to sit down with my girl and child. After I noticed people coming out and sitting down then the employees bringing them food did I get curious. Well turns out my food has been sitting on the bar top for 15 min without anyone telling me a thing. They then tried to apologize… this is not service, subway is better service than this. Am I supposed to be a firefighter to get someone to tell me when they are done making my food. WTF man

Unilocal, You never fail me! I was working in a neighborhood right down the road from here and went on a limb and tried a new place. WOW, was I impressed! I ordered the Italian sub, and I must say a medium is very large and filling. The first thing I noticed was how they did not hold back on the meat. The sandwich was perfectly put together and the flavors all went together very well. I don’t frequent sandwich shops often but this one, I will return to. The staff was very friendly, the bathroom was clean and they had a huge patio area that over looked part of a golf course and a little pond of some sort. 3 of my co workers all ate different subs and everyone said it was fabulous. Keep up the good work Firehouse!

Great food. But I thought Firehouse Subs was known to be friendly? Had a dead car battery after eating at Firehouse Subs. Tried to ask an employee a question about finding a number to call and he was very rude. Turned his back on me. Will be going back to Thunderclouds. They have it all over Firehouse Subs in friendliness and hospitality.

Found this place in Unilocal… Best decision! Will definitely be coming back before I leave town and will come back next vacation! Sat on the deck, nice view and very relaxing. The employees are very nice and told us what to do in town and what’s good to eat here. Like the set up and the feel of this place!!! Try the meatball sub!!!

I have been going to the Lakeway Firehouse Subs since it opened. I absolutely love their food, and their service is great! The staff is super friendly, the sandwiches taste amazing, are made with high quality ingredients, and the location rocks! Love to sit outside on the deck and watch the turtles swim in the pond while we eat. There is not one item on the menu that I wouldn’t recommend, and I have tried most of them! I live at Steiner Ranch, and they are close enough for me to run down and pick up dinner to go when my family doesn’t want to leave the house. One cool thing about FHS is that they support the local first responders with their charity. This makes me feel even better about sponsoring them. Thank you Steve King for bringing FHS to Lakeway!

Sorry, I was not impressed. I fail to see the positive and glowing things other reviewers experienced. I’ve been in Lakeway for six years and this place is pretty typical sub shop. Day I went staff was indifferent. Dull greeting, no engaging banter… you get the picture? All this could have been mitigated if sandwich was great. But, like rest of experience sandwich – roast beef was soggy and rather bland. I give it 1.5 stars for convenience of location,

I’m back again, and this place really is a 5 star experience! Love the sandwiches, love the environment, great experience every time I’ve been. The lady had turkey bacon ranch, and it was delish… I had the club on a sub again, delish. I spoke with the owner, and he told me he had been passionate about Firehouse for some time. He had even tried to open one in Florida, but all the franchise opportunities were taken. Well, I’m just glad there is one close to our place… it is delish.

Not gross like subway, not all snooty like Quiznos, and jimmy johns are you even trying. Taste leaps and bounds over all three. Very friendly staff. One of the coolest coke machines ever with over 80 different drinks. They also support the local Emergency Services. From now on I will not go anywhere else for a sandwich. This truly is top of the line quality. Give it a try. My favorite is the Smokehouse Beef Brisket and cheddar, with a little bit of the Hank Williams hot sauce, not the Hank Williams Jalapeño hot sauce, that stuff is nasty! Go! Go! Go!
