This was my first visit to Firehouse Subs and they are the world’s best kept secret! Firehouse subs is my NEW favorite! My club sub was delicious! Staff was courteous and friendly, but the sub stole the show! I will be back for more, thank you!

Prior to last week, I’d never heard of Firehouse Subs(FHS). My hardscape contractor (Ker), who claims to be a steak & cheese devotee, raved about the franchise/chain albeit he’d hadn’t frequented the location on Woodmore Center Drive. He assured me that FHS’s version of the steak & cheese sub was better than any offered in Philadelphia (including at Gino’s). The Ker said FHS had the best rolls and they had a special method for cooking the steak w/the cheese together. This past Saturday, the Mrs. & I drove 8 miles to our nearest FHS location in Lanham. The accented gentleman taking orders was quite customer friendly. We ordered the medium steak & cheese combo sub and the turkey sub both w/o mayo. unfortunately, the latter came w/the unwanted mayo. The rolls were fresh & the best part of both subs. The steak & cheese was just okay(nothing special & lacked seasoning). The turkey was nothing to complain about except for the unrequested mayo. Overall, we found the FHS in Lanham to be worthy of another visit should we happen to be in the area and not having to drive over 8 miles from the Chillum area.

The sandwiches are great. The ham is the best I’ve had if any sandwich place like this. My problem with this location is the customer service is virtually nonexistent. Even at 10:55am when I was the only customer I still waited for 3 minutes to pick up my order that I placed through the app that was ready at 10:45. I didn’t have to wait for them to make it, I just had to wait to be acknowledged by the staff of 4 who were all looking at me stand at the register waiting to pick up my sandwich. The worst part is the rewards program which is a great perk. The problem is the people working at this location don’t seem to like to let you get your rewards points. Twice I have attempted to put my number into the reader and they have cashed me out before I could finish. Then they have told me «You need to put it in faster.» No you need to let me put the number in. It’s a little thing that adds up to a lot for me. I can go to Subway and not get as good a sandwich, but they will at least greet me when I enter and serve me with a smile. I have decided to avoid this location like it had the plague and advice others to do the same if they receive poor service.

Attention owner or management: You have a worker with extremely long hair(dreds), NOT in a hair net. Top of the employee’s head had a hair net. But not the 3 – 4 feet of hair free and exposed. Health violation, major. It was busy for lunch. Sloooow. Very slow service. Everyone is trying to get in and out for lunch, and quick! Either get faster employees or more. Employees need to wear gloves and ones that did need to change them more frequently. Hate to point this stuff out, but it is pretty damn gross when you have people not handling food correctly.(Right in front of a line of customers too) Cleanliness and food safety. Hope this location gets better. Good potential, good food for the most part.

After hearing rave reviews about Firehouse in general I gave them a try. I have been 3 times to this location and I have finally learned my lesson. Time #1 They accidentally put a customer in front of me who had earned or had a coupon for a free sub on my bill. I am a family of six and didn’t think anything about it until I had 7 subs. I just thought they are awfully expensive. Time #2 After watching two people return there food. I cringed as they brought my to go white bread sub out in a eat in basket(oh and it was on wheat) sigh Time #3 Four young people behind the counter. Three customers waiting for 15 min. How? They only reason I gave so many tries was because my significant other really enjoyed this one particular sandwich. Firehouse you just lost 12 subs a month.

First I’d like to say I’m not sure how this place snuck up on me without me being invited to the grand opening. Welcome to the neighborhood I now have a sub shop that I can go to for a sub the way I make it. Warm meet makes a sub taste so much better. Yeah I know you can get it grilled at other spots, however, this beats that. The bread is fresh the veggies are fresh in the meat tastes like it’s fresh. Just moist and juicy. Yes I said juicy. The customer service in there is awesome. They took my order I sat down watched a little bit of Sports Center, yes there are two TVs both on two separate Sport channels. On 1a a game was playing on the other sports center was playing. Almost in heaven. I couldn’t find Wi-Fi and that would be the only reason it wasn’t 5 stars I like a place I can come and spend hours in. The only way I can do that is if I can work. However this is perfect for a quick getaway for lunch. Clean and plenty of cool art and artifacts to look at for the kids. I even think I smelled smoke from the used fire and rescue gear hanging on the coat rack. Cool feature. Sandwiches are definitely good. And if you dine in unlike I did. Like many other restaurants nearby, they give you a number and they bring the food to the table. All I heard was courteous employees handling their business at a very high level. Great job. I know its a lot to ask for however, I think this place could use only two things; Wi-Fi and a greeting that happens every time someone walks through that door. You know, some catchy greeting. I just felt like I was supposed to be greeted when I walked through the door. Not all places feel like that but when they do feel like that it should actually happen because then it doesn’t feel as good, when you’re not recognized. Nice local hole sub shop.

New location with growing pains. Subs are better then Subway. They steam heat the sandwich instead of putting in oven to warm. Once this location gets its groove going it will be a good addition to the neighborhood.

Glad to have a sandwich shop here, but this place is kind of meh. I got my husband all excited about this place because I had the meatball sub at another location and it was really good. He tried one of the beef sandwiches and when he opened it up at home he couldn’t find the cheese. I found a few scraps but barely enough to even be considered cheese. Since then we stick to the meatballs. Can’t go wrong with those. Chili was downright disgusting though. Had a really off flavor, little meat and just wasn’t what we were expecting.

My co worker used to tell me about this sub place they had down by his house in Solomons Island. And now we finally have one here at Woodmore. As soon as you walk in your greeted immediately. So far I’ve had the NY Steamer & The Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket, and both were fantastic. Its nice to have another sub place besides Subway, Wegmans and Quiznos to get a sub.

YAY! WELCOMETOTHENEIGHBORHOODFIREHOUSE! I used to drive to the location in Gambrills but now this is a hop, skip and jump from me. I watched like an impatient kid waiting for mom to pay for a new toy as I waited for this location to open. Finally they opened and I ran! LOL The employees are very nice. Fresh faces with cheerful greetings. You can tell that a few of them are new but they were on point and doing what they had to do to make sure you were happy with your order and it was processed correctly. I have tried there club sub, Italian sub, steak and cheese and meatball sub… DELICIOUS! The meat is fresh and full of flavor. The bread is good. Now here is my only… well it’s not a complaint because I do realize that each sub shop not only represents there meat but also the bread. Having said that, when you get a sub from here you have to eat it as soon as possible. Depending upon what you get on your sub it could cause your bread to get soggy. I typically add oil and vinegar to my subs and this contributes to a soggy sandwich later that night, especially the next day. I compare this to other subs shops such as Jersey Mikes where my bread is still good the next day… Firehouse bread is different but please by no means get this twisted, misunderstood because they have a hell of a good sandwich and I will be returning.
