Kona Bay Cafe

My complaint has To do with their service. Horrible service. I ordered food to go and came in to pick it up. I stood at the desk for 10 minutes asking the waitress if they could please check me out. One waitress actually said yes and then proceeded to walk to a table and take their drink orders. I walked out and will never be spending my money at kona bay again.

This is my happy place. Moved to Broward and still miss this sweet spot. Great service, even better food. After a long week my weekend mornings spent here are amazing. The mimosas are dope and large. The Brittish woman that works here is amazing –sassy thing. Just come here and enjoy. Crab cakes Benedict are my thing.

Went here for Mothers Day. Had a few complaints I wanted to share. I was sitting at the bar and had a direct view of the kitchen window and drink prep area.
1. Food was delivered cold.
2. Watched our waitress use her fingers to scoop a bug out of another tables drink. She tried to hide she was doing this, but the angle I was on allowed me to observe this happen.
3. Watched other staff spill drinks repeatedly onto people’s food plates as they were taking them from the window to tables.
4. Kitchen staff continuously used their hands when wasn’t necessary. Picking up pancakes with their hands, removing a wrong item from a plate. Putting food that had fallen on the table back onto plates.
5. A staff member organized/​sorted though the trash without washing hands after.
6. Reusing what looked like dirty glasses.

The service was ok and food could be a bit hotter. Prices are ok, the menu has many options so going out of budget is pretty much your choice. I came for a breakfast and my check was very reasonable, however, it’s my opinion the coffee was expensive (has free refills). Ambient is good, a lot of people eating there, so the place’s reputation for local residents should be good.

Food was delish. I ordered the spinach tomato and feta cheese omelet and added jalapeño smoked bacon (that ended up coming on the side instead of in it– but was delicious regardless). The portion was a little small, but with the side of grits and biscuit I was full by the end. The ice coffee I ordered was mediocre.
If the service was as good as the food, I would definitely become a regular here. The waitress made us feel very rushed and forgot a few of the things we ordered (like the bacon I ordered in my omelet wasn’t there and I had to ask about it). She was attentive as she did provide us with drink refills, however our plates were never removed once we were finished and instead of asking us if we wanted anything else she just dropped the check in the middle of us eating our meals.
What I HIGHLY RECOMMEND:

what an awesome little jewel! great food, great service, On the intracoastal, outside seating allowed me to take my dog! Had the blueberry Pancakes full of fresh blueberries, and, served hot. will be going back for sure.

Love the food here! The pancakes are amazing! Today was the surf rider sandwich — bacon, egg & cheese on a croissant with French fries. The sandwich was great and the fries are the seasoned extra crispy fries. My so. Had the silver dollar pancakes with chocolate chips. The chocolate milk isn’t included in the kids meal but he said it was super tasty! Iced coffee is good and includes refills but is on the weak side. Didn’t get the pancakes today but they are amazing!

Wonderful quaint location with a smiling, friendly wait-​staff and EXCELLENT breakfast. I highly recommend Kona!

Drove by the place looked really nice and full walked inside was greeted by the waitress who was awesome they have a huge breakfast menu so it was very hard to decide the food was amazing well portioned and easy on the wallet will definitely be coming back here again

Service needs much improvement! !! Seems like they seat who they want when they want.

Long wait. Overpriced. Mediocre service. And depending on who’s cooking the food can either be good or terrible. I’ll never be going back after they sat an 8 top ahead of us, who came in after us, and took all the chairs from the outside tables to fill it. Which then left a 2 top open (we were next and a party of two) but no chairs. Forcing us to wait even longer. We ended up having been there close to an hour and never being sat by the time we left. Never going back.

This place is a little local gem. Big portions for a great price. They always kept my coffee warm and the staff was very friendly. The location is great and you even get a small view of the intercostal.

my husband and I LOVE Kona Bay! Their breakfast is delicious, hash browns are top notch!
And they have an amazing lunch too. The Chicken Fingers & French fries! Mmmm

Food is always good for me but the service is usually pretty slow. I usually don’t mind the wait so it’s not a problem

Just a problem with the birds — they were almost begging like dogs! Maybe getting a fake hawk or owl I heard is good to keep them away …

Excellent place! Great food. Great ambiance. Tropical feel. One of my favorite places to have breakfast. But cone early because they close at 2pm.

Had breakfast at the Kona Bay Café this morning around 10 a.m. We will NOT be returning. This place was SO dirty and gross. Very disorganized with the seating and food delivery. The «new» owner seems to wander around aimlessly not knowing what he is doing. The only reason we knew he is a new owner is because we over heard the waitress telling the table behind us «it’s too bad the original owner sold»…Food not that great. Service fair. Again, we will not be returning. Clean the bathrooms! G.R.O.S.S.

First off I will start by saying that my friends and I frequent Kona bay café a lot and the food is typically good. It’s hot, fresh, and very well priced and they serve breakfast all day which is awesome!
The restaurant itself is small but very well lit, very clean, and the staff is friendly… they just extended the indoor dinning room which is nice. They have indoor, and outdoor seating. The only problem with sitting outside is that they do not have anything to stop the birds from coming into the outdoor dining area which can make eating outside a little bit uncomfortable as your constantly having to scare the birds away…
Food has always been good… I love the sunshine eggs and their corn beef hash! French toast is also very good here! They have bloody Mary’s which is great for those hungover mornings and typically breakfast for two (without bloody’s) will run you about $ 18 which is very reasonable.
The reason my review is only 3 stars is because of their service (once service gets better they will increase to 4 – 5 stars in my book)… The staff is very friendly, but tends to be slow… it always tends to be hit or miss and sadly it has been more miss, than hit… however if you don’t mind friendly slow service I suggest you check it out as the food and price will make up for it…

Love this little café… Great food! Fast and friendly service. I had the eggs florentine… The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was full of flavor. Great place to grab a quick meal or hang and relax with the music.

Great place to have breakfast. Indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking. Service was good. Also allow dogs outside. I will come again.

Really Disappointed.
We recently moved close by and were really hoping to love this place — and had really high hopes based on all the reviews.
First I have to mention the positives — the staff was great, really friendly. The place was clean and the prices are really good. All of which set it up to be the perfect local spot. However, the food was not impressive. It wasn’t horrible, but I would prefer to drive a little out of my way and pay more, for better food.
We ordered two meals, both very basic — an Omelet and Scrambled Eggs with Hash Browns. First the Omelet was so full of cheese that it was overpowering any other flavor, and it wasn’t the runny gooey kind of cheese, it was thick and greasy and clumped solidly together. Then my dish, the eggs were fine but it was the hash browns that I had been waiting to try. Multiple Unilocalers said they have the BEST ever. Not so true for my liking. They were brown but not crispy on the outside, mushy on the inside and still cold in the center :(
Maybe we were just there on an off day? But, sadly don’t think we will be going back any time soon.

My cousin took us here when we were staying with her. It is a small café that she likes to frequent. The first thing I noticed is the ceiling it had pictures and couples names with hearts. It reminded me of that movie «Here on Earth» where couples would write their names on the restaurant wall. It was a good movie but terribly sad… but I like movies like that.
I had the Monte Cristo which were cut into 4 manageable pieces. The bread was egg dipped like french toast. It had ham and cheese inside served with fries and a side of syrup. It was that perfect balance between sweet and savory. It was a wonderful breakfast in a nice laid back atmosphere. It instilled my feeling of being on Island time even though our vacation days were coming to an end.

I’m saddened to see a lot of negative reviews of this place, because I’ve been coming for years and the food and the service has been superb. This is a lantana café staffed by lantana people, I don’t expect to be treated like anything other than a local. The omelets are totally worth it, and their kona coffee is *the shit.*

I walked into absolute chaos and I actually had to leave. The wait staff was overwhelmed and not seating people at tables that were available. Then, the waitresses were complaining about the customers who were questioning the long wait despite the fact that tables were open.
Another couple who was waiting even longer followed me when I left. What a shame. I won’t be back anytime soon. I’ll miss the good food but I wasn’t able to get a seat here anyway…
