GREATFOODBUTTHEWORSTSERVICE! If you have the time(2 hours) and the patience this is the best place for sushi in Las Cruces. I come here a couple of times a year because I can’t stand poor service. Order the spicy crab, Aggie roll. The miso is great too when it’s hot. The beer is cold so enjoy a beer and conversation you should be fine.

First time dinning here. Service was horrible. I was greeted by what seemed like I bothered the host. Two out of three tables were wobbly. The servers were not friendly. The sushi was decent but was overwhelmed by the cream cheese.

I’ve been to this place several times and noticed how bad the service was, but I usually don’t care about that stuff at a restaurant, but the last time I went in with two friends I stood up at the front for a solid 5 minutes before someone acknowledged I was there to sit me. Our waiter was polite but definitely not nice and very short with us, he came back a while after taking our order to confirm what we ordered but he talked so fast it was hard for us to understand, but I heard him say my roll so when I said yes he left quickly before my two friends could confirm their order. We waited about 45 minutes for our food and when he came out it was wrong, he didn’t apologize he just grabbed all the sushi and left to tell the lady making them. I could clearly see him telling her and she looked at my table with a dirty look and was shaking her head at us. I CANSEEHER. At least wait till we are gone or you are out of sight to clearly hate on us. When we finally got all of our sushi it was the worst put together sushi I’ve ever had. All of our rolls were falling apart because clearly the woman making them didn’t feel like making them properly because there was a mistake in our orders. Not only was our waiter bad and the woman making the sushi was rude, but our waiter was the only one taking tables in the whole restaurant while I could clearly see atleast 3 employees just sitting around not doing anything or eating. Do not recommend this place and I’m never going back. :) P. S. The whole restaurant smelled like sewage or toilet, I felt like I had to breathe less just to stay in there, not to mention I was in there an hour longer than expected

Best sushi in Las Cruces, not saying much. Epic playlist tho. Dishes that are not sushi are quite tasty, veggies are fresh. As far as sushi goes, they try really hard here and do a FARBETTER job than the other spots in town.

First the good, it’s clean, has nice décor and the staff are kind BUT… there is WAYTOOMUCHRICE in their Sushi! Sushi is about fish, not rice. Unfortunately, I’m not being offered a photo option, but imagine your normal cut roll and a nickel size of sushi in the middle with ¾″ of rice surrounding it. I feel ripped off. I paid for rolls of rice! Had I sat at the sushi bar, I would have sent every item back. First time eating here, placed a take-out order, spent around $ 50 and was so totally disappointed when I got home, as was my family. Sadly, we threw most of it away as the rice was less than desirable and the fish was nonexistent. Side note, their sushi rice is like nothing I’ve ever had before and that’s NOT a compliment. It’s NOT sushi rice! We will not return.

A Sweet 16 Birthday Celebration. After another restaurant disappointed, my party and I came here and thankful history did not repeat. Upon entering the restaurant we were seated quickly and our drink orders taken with the miso soup brought quickly. Our waiter was fantastic answering any questions we had. After everyone chose their sushi rolls(the traditonal California, Tokio, Spider and one other that I can’t remember the name of) we ordered and our food quickly arrived. The waiter even brought a special sauce that he recommended for the Tokio(everyone’s favorite roll) which was PERFECT and really complimented the roll. The only disappointment was the Tradional California Roll-the fish seemed on the warm side and the roll over all lacked flavor. If it had not been for this, I would give 5 stars. I would have happily paid more for this food and atmosphere. Closing out our birthday celebration the waiter brought my daughter their chocolate cake that had a candle lit. The entire restaurant joined in in singing Happy Birthday. Over all it was a great dinning experience with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. They really do try and make their customers happy.

Staff seems like they don’t want to be here. A lady cooking is chewing gum with her mouth open as she does so. Floors sticky. Miso was very watered down. Tea was watered down also. Salmon egg sushi had old dried up eggs mixed in. Terrible service. Server is too busy gossiping to staff to pick up our done dishes. No other people in resteraunt, so no excuse. Do not come here. Will be treated like a burden instead of a customer.

It really pains me to write a low review liie this, as the food is actually delicious and this restaurant continues to make my favorite sushi; however the service was deplorable. After taking my order the entire staff sat down at a table to all have lunch, regardless of the fact that there were diners in the establishment. I waited 20 minutes bedore anybody coupd be bothered to check up on me. I understand that the restaurant is slow, but as a person who makes a living in hospitality this is not an acceptable way to conduct business. I wil be contacting the owner/manager.

I have had the unfortunate experience of visiting this restaurant twice, once when they first opened and then again more recently when friends asked me to reconsider my opinion of this dreadful place. The service was terrible, the unpleasant stench of fish hung in the air, and the sushi was sloppy and fell apart when I tried to eat it. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Never again.

Avoid. Dishonest business practice. they posted happy hour 2 to 4 pm on their website and a 15 for 30 dollar deal on Unilocal. They didnt honor any of it. Talking to the manager didnt help either. I think they have no idea on how to manage their Unilocal account.

The service was really goos but the sushi itself left a lot to be desired. Very few«fresh» options – lots of cream cheese and fried fried fried casings, as opppsed to what I’ve come to expect from sushi restaurants. I felt sick after. 2 stars because service was good. Sushi was 1 star.

The Franklin Rolls were very good. The Banana Rolls were sweet. Excellent service. I especially liked the Combination Teppanyaki plate. My son in law loved the Mido Soup which was freshly made.

So, I’m from the east coast and I know sushi in Las Cruces will never compare. I walked into okazuri with an open mind willing to try a little bit of everything. I ordered the spicy tuna roll, the classic rainbow roll and the 12 nigiri combo. I’ll start with the good, roll-wise I would give the spicy tuna a 6⁄10. I am cutting the restaurant some slack because it is in the middle of the desert. The spicy tuna was just a roll mixed with Sriracha, which is how most rolls are made nowadays. The rainbow roll I would give a 7/10, hard to mess up a classic rainbow roll, but the 7 is just I wish it was a little more fresh. Now the bad. The 12 piece nigiri was probably intended to be good, but they put this salad right in the middle of the plate with a vinegar — like dressing. Needless to say, the vinegar dressing was absorbed by the rice which ruined the entire plate. I ate 1 roll and my palate was ruined. You cannot taste anything. So the meal was ruined. I am sure I will not be refunded my money, nor was the offer made to re make my dish. I will add a picture with what the plate looked like

Pretty much every roll has cream cheese. The service can be bad. The rolls are big and pretty filling.

Squid salad is good here and plentiful at $ 6.50. As a sushi place, the rolls are not well done, the quality is low, and 90% of the rolls come with cream cheese. Por favor… Service and atmosphere are so-so. Live music is nice but too loud for the type of environment.

Poor service, a waitress who forgets orders(nevermind the fact she doesn’t write anything down). Far from authentic, rolls covered on mayo based sauces, way too much mirin in the sushi rice. I stopped by 3 times, each time giving them the benefit of the doubt and 3 times they screwed up. Never going back. PS. Its a sushi bar that blasts country music. Not what I’m looking for when I’m in a sushi bar.

Stooped here for lunch on our 11 hour drive. It was not busy– only 2 other people eating, so we sat at the floating sushi bar. The food was great! My husbands dishes took over 25 minutes to come out, while my sushi was only about 10 minutes. Sonny and Amador at the sushi bar were amazing staff, very professional, pleasant and helpful. Our waitress was not very good. We only saw her 4 times, to take our order, bring our drinks, deliver our food, and give our ticket. That is one of my pet peeves– please don’t let my water glass get empty!

I’ve been to this restaurant twice and I definitely won’t go back again. The miso soup tasted like luke warm chicken broth. The waiter brought my friend’s main course 15 minutes before I got my main course. I received my appetizer 15 minutes after I received my main course once I reminded the waiter I had ordered an appetizer. I ordered a California roll. The roll was loose and I couldn’t pick up a piece without it breaking apart. The rice was filmy and tasted stale. The restaurant was not busy at all and the service was horrible. I would highly recommend going to another sushi restaurant in town.

This place is far from authentic, far from delicious. I’ve never experienced such a completely sub-par dining experience as the one i had at Okazuri. I ordered the nigiri 10-piece combination plate. My partner ordered a «teppanyaki» chicken and shrimp and a side of squid salad(mind you, absolutely the best part of the entire meal and I guarantee you it was prepackaged). The«sushi chef» seemed to be very new at the world of sushi because each cut of dry fish looked like he may have been practicing on a block of cheese perhaps, but definitely nothing resembling a typical sashimi cut. The sushi rice had no vinegar seasoning, and each piece of nigiri gave me the excitement of having to chase the remnants around the plate because of how loosely(or carelessly) they were made. The«teppanyaki» chicken and shrimp tasted, I kid you not, EXACTLYLIKETHEYWERECOOKEDINMOVIEPOPCORNBUTTER. DISGUSTING! AVOIDTHISPLACELIKETHEPLAGUE. unless of course you want them to comp your awful meal as well… :)
