It’s your average Chinese buffet. Good price though. Wouldn’t eat the raw fish sushi… it’s definitely not up to temp codes.

An average Chinese buffet that has all the standard foods that taste just like every OTHER place you can go to. The service is alright, the place is clean. There’s nothing outstanding about this place. At the same time there is nothing BAD about this place. It just, IS.

Food wasn’t very good. I found a cockroach walking around on our table and alerted the hostess who sat us down. Not only did she not seem very alarmed that this has occurred, they refused to give us more than a 10% discount. Won’t be returning.

Food is decent. The air could go down a few notches. It’s hard to enjoy dinner when I’m sweating. I can’t imagine how hot the kitchen crew must be

You don’t usually expect a lot from a chinese buffet, but this is the absolute worst I have ever visited. Bland food with very little variety in a dirty and loud environment. At least it is overpriced. I very rarely leave reviews because every restaurant has good and bad days. I felt it, however, was a moral imperative to warn others away from this place. If one person is saved from this horrible feeling in my stomach, then I have done a public service. I only wish it was Monday so I could call the health department! Yuck!!!

Great food, great service, reasonable prices. Will definitely go back and eat here anytime we are in Lawrence.

My favorite Chinese buffet in town and I don’t like Chinese. Jeremy does so he tried this place before bringing my here. Last time though some of the chicken was tough like the general tso’s chicken and sesame chicken. They have gyoza(dumplings) on the line and I love them. They’re not crispy like other places, more steamed, but even still they are tasty. We chose this place for Christmas because we always celebrate Christmas by going to a Chinese buffet.

I only give three stars because most of the food was acceptable but the sesame chicken and the sweet and sour chicken as well as the shrimp were not up to par! Their selection is very limited and service could be better.

Really enjoy the restaurant. Servers are trying their best to make their customers happy, plus the choice of food is great for a Chinese buffet. Overall a great experience.

Best chinese buffet in town. They got cocktail shrimp and sautéed clam. And love the dumpling and duck too.

I do get headaches and tired after eating but it is good when I eat the food here(maybe just me). Staff is also just alright. I’ve never received satisfying service here. So what I’m trying to say this is just an alright place.

I went there with my husband since it was relatively close to my house. The servers were all hanging out in their server station. The food was mediocre. It’s just alright.

This is a very well done Chinese buffet. I’ve been here several times and always been very satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere. My last visit was with my mother after a long day of shopping in KC, on our way back to Topeka. It was a Saturday evening and it was $ 10.49 per person. A bit high — but then again, not really, considering the variety of options and how well it’s maintained. We also ate at a slow, leisurely pace and took up a booth for almost two hours, chitchatting and enjoying our time together, with no pressure from the staff to be on our way.

It’s such a decent Chinese buffet which is clean, well lit and not ruin down like some of the places. Their sushi bar is the best! Some cons are: 1) nobody is attending at teppanyaki grill, 2) mostly no fish balls in fish ball soup pot, and 3) servers sometimes place used plates and leftovers in the hallway.

Not sure what took me so long to finally eat here because I’ve been hearing about it from friends for years that are regulars. Today I took the plunge on the advice of a friend I was having lunch with. For $ 15.35 total with tax for two buffet meals, an unlimited amount of food beyond what you can begin to try and it ranges from sushi(granted, not the greatest high end, but come on…), Chinese, Dim Sum, egg rolls, noodles, rice, shrimp, a huge dessert bar I didn’t even attempt to peruse, ribs, chicken and beef yakitori, soups, chow mein, fresh fruit, salads, the list is endless. I think this is a pretty remarkable feed with very nice selection for the price. Sure, there’s plenty of fried items out of the Sysco truck but that’s expected for about any Chinese in the midwest(or most other places for that matter). They do exactly what they set out to do which is to put on a big feed for folks with an appetite. Don’t expect high dining, just a lot of food, good service and water glass refilled without asking. Also, I understand it was recently remodeled. I found the atmosphere pretty pleasant and inviting and in spite of a large lunch crowd no waiting. The help was very friendly and accommodating. I now see what I was missing. There’s also a Mongolian station for those interested in getting something cooked in front of you. Didn’t try it but it had a line most of the time we were there. This is a solid option for the come hungry crowd. Recommended.

I’ve been coming to this place since I was in high school. It used to be a weekly thing for me and a group of friends, then when I went to KU it was a great place to eat since they offered a student discount. It had been a few years since I had last been in here and I was pleasantly surprised that they had remodeled and updated the interior. It looks good! I’m not sure why there’s so many poor reviews for this place — It really is great for being a buffet. The staff is more than welcoming and attentive, this place is always clean and the food is always fresh. This is the ONLY place that I know of that has peanut butter chicken in Kansas — I used to always get it when I lived in Madison, WI. :) I would say avoid their cold shrimp, as it just doesn’t seem right… But aside from that you really cannot complain about a chinese buffet as good as this one.

I went to King’s Buffet for Mother’s Day with a group of friends hoping to fight off an impending hangover. When we arrived, we were informed that today, for Mother’s Day, they had crab legs added to their typical dinner buffet. Sweet deal. The food selection at Kings Buffet was astounding. From seafood, to oriental, to even comfort food. I myself enjoyed the sushi, crab legs, shrimp, fried mushrooms, and some pasta salad. Everything was surprisingly fresh. The crab legs were crisp to the crackle; not bendable like one might imagine in a buffet. Their sushi roll selection was expansive and presented well. The service was attentive, and the restaurant seemed clean, although the music was a bit weird. The price point for the buffet were very fair. The only reservation I had, is one of my friends told me apparently this restaurant use to be a lot less impressive – perhaps I had caught them on a good day? Regardless, I recommend King’s Buffet if you’re craving Chinese food in heaps. Storm

This is one of the best Chinese food values in town. I like the buffet, and the prices are reasonable. I’ve tried other Chinese restaurants and am usually disappointed at the other ones in town.

One of the better Chinese buffets in Lawrence. The restaurant is very spacious, never crowded when I had been. Typical Chinese buffet dishes. I was not too satisfied with their potstickers, however. They seemed very tough, not soft or crunchy how I would prefer. Good prices, and they have student discounts if you show your student ID.

I’m surprised no one has written a review for King Buffet yet. I tried this place because I heard it was the best Chinese buffet in Lawrence. What stands out about King Buffet is the variety of Chinese dishes(compared to other buffets in Lawrence like Peking Taste, Panda Garden) and because sushi is served. I do have doubts that sushi is fresh, because you can’t watch a chef make it in front of you. The rolls are brought out from the kitchen and placed on a plate. The types of sushi is also limited. However, sushi is sushi and it’s great that you can get as many pieces as you want without waiting too long. You’ll see the typical Chinese dishes(Beef Broccoli, Crab Rangoon, Egg Drop soup, House Special Chicken, String Bean, Triple Seafood Delight, etc.) and some other that I haven’t seen too much in Lawrence(roast duck, Japanese chicken, sashimi, some dim sum). There’s the standard ice cream and fruits aisle too. My only concern was that when I called in to ask whether sushi is served, they said yes, but they didn’t know what type of sushi they had. They don’t even know if they had California rolls or what it was! Doh! Nonetheless, $ 10+ tip for a filling dinner buffet sounds like a good deal.
