My new favorite spot in Leander. Great sushi and miso soup. Off the menu Kai Spring roll comes with no rice but awesome sushi wrapped like a spring roll. Good eats.

First time here, was neither impressed nor disappointed. Service was alright, we were seated promptly and our server was nice. Food was alright, took awhile to come out but was decent. One of the few sushi bars in the Leander area, reasonably priced.

I’ve been here twice now and each time has been a very pleasant experience. The sushi chef and waiter were have hospitable and social. The food was phenomenal and very close to authentic. Especially the skewers, that was a great yaki-tori.

What a treat to have such a great sushi spot in little olé Leander! We ordered garlic edamame and gyoza for apps. Perfect amount of garlic, delicious. Volcano roll was awesome! I’ll be craving that a lot. Huge lumps of crab and scallop on top, very fresh too. Great sake list, wine, and beer. It was dinner on a Saturday, extremely busy. I think there are still a few wrinkles to iron out with seating. When we first walked in there were two other parties just standing at the door. Nobody had greeted any of us yet and we were all confused… But they made up for that with great servers and delicious food. Just a busy night, which is good for business!

We found this new sushi restaurant not far from us! This is an awesome place! The sushi chefs and wait staff gives great service. The sushi and sashimi are really good! We also tried some of their sake which was awesome also. I forgot which one but just ask the wait staff they recommended all the good ones for me! We will definitely return again!

My husband and I went here on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. There wasn’t a wait to get in. The waiter was very attentive and friendly, as were the guys making the sushi. We ordered the spicy garlic edamame… OMG. wonderful, although you probably didn’t want to talk to me after the fact. It had tons of garlic and a hint of spice. We also ordered the stuffed avocado. It was definitely solid but a little difficult to eat. We ordered three rolls… the mexican, Mikey and lobster tempura(special roll). We debated over which was our favorite. The Mikey is fried and unlike many other places, it’s not extremely heavy. It had a very thin breading on it. My only complaint(if it’s a complaint at all) is that the lobster roll was so big that it was difficult to eat in one bite. I made kind of a mess out of it. You could definitely taste the lobster though! This is a great new place for Leander!

When hubby and I ordered delivery from here we were worried that either A) It would suck, or B) It would be awesome and we would soon go broke because sushi+delivery out in LEANDER is bad news for our wallets. Definitely going with option B here. We had the Sumo Roll, Bilbimbop(with pork instead of beef), and a few other dishes. The sumo roll was AWESOME. HUGE chunks of fish… very nice. The Bilbimbop was great too, big portion so I only ate half. Ate the rest of it the next day(threw in a frying pan with some oil and eggs) and it was just as good the next day. The miso soup was pretty good, very typical. I can’t wait for another date night for more Sushi!

Went here for lunch because our normal sushi place is closed on Mondays. Food was okay, a tad pricey for lunch and should be a couple dollars cheaper. My girlfriend had the teriyaki chicken and I had the shrimp and vegetable tempura bento box. While the food was alright, the service was not. They forgot our miso soup until we asked for it. They also forgot the salad dressing on the salad and did not bring out ginger or wasabi for the California roll. They were only half busy and their plating and service were definitely off. I’ll probably give the place another chance but there are definitely better sushi restaurants in the area.

Convenient sushi restaurant, close to home. The restaurant is clean, and decorated nicely. Service was friendly and fast. I tried the lunch special(roll, soup & salad) which were all decent, and very filling.

Still the best Sushi house around. Proprietors Mike and Judy are the best and the Sushi and staff rock. If you haven’t had the chance to try Kai Sushi your missing out!!!

For the most part, our lunch experience today was«meh». For starters, the lunch special nigiri is chef’s choice only(no substitutions). When we asked what the chef’s choice was for the day, the waiter said«it just depends, could be tuna, whitefish, salmon, or something else.» I don’t know about you, but I like to know what I’m going to be served before I place my order. So that took most of the lunch specials off the table since they are mostly served with this mystery nigiri. My husband ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. The chicken was juicy, but the teriyaki sauce was overly sweet and tasted more like bottled BBQ sauce than Teriyaki. He wasn’t a big fan of the Gyoza filling, though they were cooked well(crispy outside). The salad dressing was just ok too. I was tempted to rate this a 2, but my crunchy roll was tasty and I would reorder it again. Service was also lackluster. I HATE having to ask for a drink refill, it should either be anticipated or at least I should be asked if I want a refill when my glass is getting empty. For the record, we were the only ones there so there was no reason to not have excellent, attentive service. Sorry, Kai Sushi, but we won’t likely be back.

My wife and I had a really nice first visit to Kai Sushi for happy hour earlier this evening. They now have a beer and wine license which is always a big plus. We started with calamari, bacon and shrimp skewers, and pork belly skewers. My favorite appetizer was the calamari, as it was in a really light rice flour batter. The pork belly suffered from too quick of cooking, so the fat and meat didn’t have enough time to render and become tender. For main courses we had nigiri from the HH menu, and probably 5 maki rolls. The favorite of the night was the Mikey Roll. We will definitely be back, as the owners are really nice, and the quality of food was great.

Me n my wife were coming from CA so we were hungry for some sushi and our taste buds are pretty picky. When we saw kai sushi at first we were like sushi in austin? But we were craving sushi so we decided to go in. When we stepped inside the restaurant it was real clean and neat. Chef greeted us as we walked in so we sat at the bar. We ordered some sashimi to start and we LOVED it! So fresh, clean and delish!!! Clam and octopus had very good texture, salmon, and white tuna was like chewing on butter! We were going to order sashimi just for appetizer but we ended up ordering sashimi’s for whole meal. If any of you are in the area definitely try kai sushi. You won’t regret it.

Stopped by during a short trip and I was pleasantly surprised! 5 stars and literally WooHoo! It is as good as it gets. The staff was so nice I had to ask how long they have been in business. They mentioned they are fairly new. Not sure if that’s the reason but food quality and service was exceptional! We didn’t order any hot foods such as skewers but instead ordered a large variety of sushi and rolls. All baked rolls were a taste of heaven. Previous review mentioned volcano rolls and I agree! It was absolutely divine. Sushi was fresh. Uni was buttery. What can I say… I love this place. Too bad I live in California.

This adorable sushi is in soft opening to the public with their grand opening on August 1st. The menu is primarily sushi but they do have some traditional Korean and Japanese entrees too. There is fabulous woodwork that one of the owners crafted himself, it is very impressive. The tables, host stand to accents above the sushi bar are all his work. I ordered the Kai specials sashimi which consists of delicate cuts of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, red snapper sashimi on top of a bed of seaweed salad, lightly drizzled with house sauce and chopped cilantro. The fish was excellent tender cuts and just the right thickness. The pieces of salmon especially melted in my mouth. I also tried the skinny roll which is right up my alley. The skinny roll is a healthy rice-less roll of tuna, salmon, white fish, crab, daikon wrapped in cucumber. This is perfect for a light meal or to compliment your sushi order. I was delighted when along with my check came an orange cut into an adorable bear! I enjoyed meeting the owners Judy and Mike. Chef/Owner Mike has experience as a chef at many popular sushi restaurants in Austin. GM/Owner Judy has also work in the restaurant industry. With Mike’s chef skills and the Judy’s warm personality business savviness I know this place is going to do well. This is a great addition to the Cedar Park/Leander area! Their liquor license and patio seating are both in the works. Judy has excellent taste in sake so you can bet the menu will be wonderful when they start serving. When the patio is complete it will also be dog friendly(yay!).

The food was just delicious. The uni just melted in my mouth the jalapeño poppers had a nice layering of flavors with a nice kick The skinny roll was very light and refreshing The presentation and assortment of sushi in the Chirashi was mouth watering and the Mexican roll had a delightful kick without being overbearing with the various spices Thank you for a truly enjoyable dinner We will be back The best sushi we have had since moving to Leander Tx from Long Island NY

Just opened in Leander. This place is awesome! The food is better than most little sushi bars. Private parking — check! Food — awesome! Menu — Lunch menu and nice selection on regular menu. Price — reasonable! Service — above and beyond! I am SO happy with this little place and it’s close to home!
