Great little place! You will not come here for the fancy décor, but don’t worry… The friendly service and great food totally about weighs the physical appearance! Awesome selection of burgers cooked to perfection! Will definitely be back if we are in the area!

When it comes to restaurants, there are two kinds of people: cookie-cutter pristine-clean Chain people, or greasy-spoon mom-and-pop people. LONGLIVETHEMOM-AND-POP! Mo’s has about twenty custom burgers ranging from Classic(cheese-lettuce-tomato-mayo), to Custom(Johnny Appleseed: aged-cheddar-maple-bacon-sauteed-apples-onion-mustard) to Exotic(Southern Bell: fried-egg-bacon-cheese-on-a-donut bun). Most burgers are 8-ounces, with a large side of hand-cut fries or homemade-style coleslaw. You can substitute onion-rings, sweet-potato fries or several other choices for a buck-fifty more. There are also Grinders & Pizza, which I haven’t tried yet. The food is heavy, tasty and costs about what you would spend at Mickey-D’s or any-other cookie-cutter burger place. Oh, they also serve beer & wine, maybe liquor. Beer is good, inexpensive and pairs perfectly with the burgers. If you’ve read other reviews you know this place won’t win any awards for ambiance, and that’s fine with me. It’s a burger joint and a bar, it’s exactly what it is and doesn’t try to be anything else.

Terrible. Our burgers we’re not cooked as ordered(we ordered medium but they came out way over done), the fries and«onion rings»(they resembled spahgetti) were greasy, our server had to check our order as it came out of the kitchen then send it back because the cook didn’t do what she told him to. The place was dirty. It hadn’t been dusted in ages. We won’t be going back.

Friendly atmosphere and tasteful food. If you’re looking for a cool burger and live music this is the place to go. Trivia night was very fun!

Atmosphere-Should be called Mo’s burgers and flies. Don’t know how this restaurant/bar has 4 star reviews. There were flies everywhere, swarming our food. The server even commented on the flies as they tried to make a landing on our food, saying«Oh are the flies bothering you? I know they’re awful, they(owners) were going to hang something from the ceiling to catch them.» Um what?! Food– I know it’s a burger place and maybe should have gotten a burger, but we ordered a pizza to share. It was obviously a frozen pizza and it was so greasy and had a horrible taste to it. The best part about this place was the fact they had crushed ice in my diet Pepsi. Will not return unless Chef Ramsey comes to the rescue.

What a burger :). I had the roadhouse which is their«best seller» medium. Cut it in half w a steak knife and hate both halves within 5 mins. Special today was Parmesan fries for an extra 1.50– very good! Had a couple beers for happy hour– big selection– many craft beers. It’s definitely a townie bar– if you can overcome that you got yourself a nice burger and beers– after all isn’t that what it’s all about!

Brought out 2 wrong orders, didn’t know the drinks at all, and took nearly 20 minutes to bring the checks. Won’t be back anytime soon.

This place came highly recommended by friends which may have made it impossible to live up to the hype. The burgers are good but I have felt sort of sick to my stomach shortly after eating there(twice). The service is unbearably slow. I won’t be returning.

You must be thinking 4 stars for that place?! Well I’m reviewing it for what it is, a hole in the wall dive bar. Sticky bar tops, flies and all! I’m not exaggerating. However, their burger selection is amazing. I love the originality and creativity of the burgers that the have. The bacon and cheese fries was so yum! The service was good, our bartender made yummy drinks. Best part of it all, we didn’t get any tummy aches. Just a food coma afterwards, probably brought on by the drinks and fatty foods: D

I absolutely love the buger creations at this restaurant. I had the buger in between two doughnuts(I cant remember the name of it). Needless to say that it was an interesting experience. I will be back to test the other burger creations.

Very unimpressed! Outside was littered with cigarette butts all over the ground upon entering the establishment. Decided not to order anything from menu when place was dirty inside and no one in restaurant was eating. Mostly locals at the bar just drinking. Bar glasses upside down at bar filled with condensation. Not ever going back there. Place looked like it might have been good at one time.

Real good burgers here no doubt about that. Just needs better use of space, somethings missing. Kind of an awkward dining area.

Big olé creative burgers… and a decent selection of beer. What more do you need? Wish I would have come here more during my stay in Groton… maybe next time. Seasoned fries are as Jennifer H. says«different». Not sure what they put on them but it’s like a sticky sauce with pepper flakes in it. I enjoyed it.

The Burgers are huge but I must say delicious. My kids ordered the bacon and classic burgers and couldn’t even finish half and they have good appetites. I sampled a little of both of them and I must say I was pleased by the taste. I had the Italian grinder with oil. Just your standard Salami, Ham and Pepperoni with lettuce and tomato but after the first bite I knew it was going to be a great sandwich. My only gripes about the place, no kids menu. They have 6 oz burgers but if you order those for the kids you can’t get the toppings. The place looked like it was going through a renovation.(at least I hope) and the flies instead were bothersome. I shouldn’t be swatting away 5 or more flies at my table inside a restaurant. Good for a quick bite but not a place I would jump out of my chair to head too.

I waited over an hour for my to-go food and they gave me a free appetizer. Nice.

This place is sort of hard to describe. If I were to describe it, I’d say it’s Cheers meets Arnold’s of Happy Days. One side is dark and has a long traditional bar, and the other side is brightly lit and has pool tables mixed with dining booths. It’s almost like the place has two characters. Mo’s offers typical bar food and since the word«burgers» is in the name, that’s exactly what I ordered. I thought my Roadhouse burger was excellent. 8 oz of ground beef was plenty filling. The fries were very good too. I didn’t think they were frozen because they tasted hand cut to me. Supposedly they invite bands to play on the weekends. That’s nice to hear because I can’t imagine there’s a whole lot of other night time entertainment happening in Gales Ferry on the weekends.

I’ve only been here once, but I’m definitely going back! My boyfriend really likes this place, so he brought me there when I drove down to visit him tonight… it was worth the hour drive from the New Britain, CT area to grab a burger here! The place is a bit dumpy as it is a dive bar, but the service was really friendly and they went out of their way to accommodate my food allergy. This place is a favorite with the guys from the sub base, so be prepared to see lots of Navy t-shirts, uniforms, and such. This is one place that is worth a second trip and at $ 16 for a beer and a burger(before tip), I’m glad that my boyfriend told me about it.
