I wanted to like this place. I called ahead, as there was a group of us, and asked if they could accommodate us in 10 minutes. I was assured that, yes they could, so we drove out there. When we arrived, one of the guys working was really short with us and when we explained that more people were showing up, he kind of freaked out. Then he told us we couldn’t eat there and there was no way they could serve us all. Um, but I just called and was told it was okay. Anyway, long story short, we went someplace else. Sad we didn’t get Mexican food, but happy to have had better service elsewhere!

We love this place! The owner is super laid back and can come across as smug but he’s friendly and always has a recommendation for what to try. The food is always fresh and delicious. The absolute best salsa ANYWHERE! Fish tacos are crazy good. Usually we order the chimichanga but they must have changed chefs because it has some weird sweet sauce in it now. I hope it was just a bad day and they go back to the old way they use to make it. Other than that, everything on the menu is excellent.

Been here several times and food is always tasty. Generous portions. Only thing that needs improvement is the attitude of the server/co-owner. Not very welcoming or friendly.

Baja Charlie’s bills itself as «Cali-Mex». California-Mex implies freshness. Baja Charlie’s delivered on that promise for us. Chips and salsa are brought to the table when you sit down. The salsa was bright, fresh, and delicious. It wasn’t spicy, but that’s ok, because my wife preferred it that way, and I added a few dashes of Cholula(there’s a bottle on each table) to satisfy my penchant for heat. My wife’s fish tacos were excellent. One huge battered and fried filet of fish in each of the two tacos. The exterior of the filet was crunchy, the fish tender. It’s topped with pico, avocado, and a cabbage slaw, it all was fresh and tasty. I ordered the baja chicken tacos – three tacos stuffed to the gills. In addition to the chicken it included potatoes, bacon, queso, sour cream, pico, guac, and what I assume was cheddar(or something similar) that was cooked on a griddle to a crunchy, golden brown. They’re messy to eat. I must’ve gone through 4 or 5 napkins, but I didn’t care. They’re loaded with flavor and also textural contrasts. They were fantastic. Next time we’re in the area, we won’t hesitate to visit again.

4 stars for the food. 1.5 stars at most for service, atmosphere, staff. I was so annoyed at their service and lack of organization that we left as soon as possible after getting the check. I almost left before the food came because the cook was slow but my wife convinced me to wait.

I wish I could give Baja Charlie’s a higher rating, because I love the atmosphere and space, but the food is not good. I went there with two other friends, who also deeply disliked the food.

Salsa had a slight sweetness to it, not too much though. Chicken tacos and beef burritos were excellent. I’ll definitely be back soon!

I’m not into the yellow rice(explain, pls) but they have chimichangas(read: deep fried burritos) which appeals to the Hoosier in me. Don’t expect classic Mexican food(this is the Berkshires after all), but the food is pretty good. Giant portions, so I’d say the price is alright.

This is an awesome place! The mango enchiladas were absolutely splendid. The portion size was generous and the mango flavor was unique and sweet, but not overpowering. Everything that I had was fresh and tasty, from the corn chips, to the salsa, to the guacamole, to my entrée. To top it off, the service was fast and courteous. All of the above, combined with a pleasant restaurant décor and very reasonable prices made my visit to this establishment a truly rewarding experience. I wholeheartedly recommend the place. I will definitely stop in here again on my next visit to the area.

Simple, fresh food at a decent price — Baja Charlie’s is a great eatery in Lee, MA in the Berkshires! I have only one recommendation for you: their mango enchiladas are incredible. So damn tasty that it’s hard to wrap my head around it all. I absolutely recommend them if you at all like mangos. Although the dish is a bit sweet, it’s not overpoweringly so and the mango flavor really comes together. I had mine with chicken, but it probably would have been equally as great with pork or beef, etc. The atmosphere inside is bright and definitely evokes a happy«California» vibe of sorts. The kitchen is semi-open when you walk in and the gentleman who took our order was nice. I’d highly recommend this place if you’re looking for some decent eats in Western Mass! The only qualm is that they don’t sell a la carte tacos — I would have loved to order a taco or two on the side, but they only have 4 to an order on the menu; would be nice to see single tacos offered! Oh and it’d be great if they carried some tea as well for tea lovers; I mean, it’s just a tea bag and hot water, I’m sure it’s not too hard to stock!

Excellent service. The salsa is the best I’ve ever had. I tried the Malibu enchilada which was delicious but a little more on the heavier side than expected. Nonetheless, it was delicious and I would recommend someone order it again. All of our meals were delicious.

Visited Lee, MA over night, was looking for Mexican locally and although it was in a strange location. VERY easy to pass by at night mainly because it looks like a house from the outside. It is in the same building as a salon if that helps. Didn’t know how to get in the place til I saw someone walk around from the back with takeout. Hope you don’t mind sitting in close quarters with strangers. It’s a little mom and pop place. Simply decorated. Let me say. Food was FANTASTIC. you have to try, at least do takeout(which is probably what we will do next time) boyfriend and I are long distance and met halfway here. Didn’t feel like having our conversation being over heard by strangers. Wait staff was a little less attentive than I would of liked. But the food was so damn good we will definitely go back !!(And fairly priced too!!!)

The wet burrito was great the wife liked her chicken tacos, the boy had the quesadia– spelling– It was okay. Good food not mind blowing. You can tell that this place can get rockin’ in the evenings. We got there right a 4:30– we beat the early birds! I’d go back.

Great flavors, great staff, kid friendly! The food is(self described) as a Cali-Mexi blend.(Which suits me well, as I used to live in San Diego.) The food is always good, the staff attentive and friendly. It’s a bit pricey, sure, but the ingredients are quality and this isn’t taco bell, folks. Free chips and salsa on the table when you arrive. It can be busy, seating can be tight, but if you’re patient you’ll have some of the best Cali-mex on the eastern seaboard.

Baja Charlie’s is delightful and fun. The California inspired menu is fresh and delicious. My husband and I are never disappointed by the food and we always leave more than satisfied(and stuffed). They have a great outdoor space for dining, as well as lawn games for a casual hang out while waiting or just because. This is definitely a hidden gem in Lee because most people may be confused as to what Cali-Mex is… but if your looking for a killer fresh burrito or chimichanga, this restaurant is your place. Really affordable prices too. And mojitos to die for.

Came here for the first time tonight while we were in the area. All I have to say is, mango chicken enchiladas. We also had no issues with the service… Will be making the drive again just for dinner.

This is a great local business with fresh food and large portions. The food is definitely more California-style Mexican than authentic south of the border stuff. But, that is fine. Just know it before you come in. On my recent visit, I had the Shrimp Avacado salad. I loved the blackened shrimp for a kind of hot-cold mix. There was so much food, that I had to take home more than half of the salad. My friends and family each had enchiladas and chimis. Of course, I had to have a taste. I have to say that I do not know which meal I would have enjoyed more. The service was excellent. It is clear that the owner and staff take great pride in their restaurant. That is always a good sign. My only concern is that the place is rather small. So, in season, I am guessing that there will be a long line. But, it is absolutely worth it.
