Doozen’s is absolutely leaps and bounds above the overpriced, generic Starbuck’s that so many people find themselves in… poor souls. When you walk into Doozen’s, you are instantly greeted by a smiling face and a unique menu. They also have seasonal options like many coffe shops around. I love to indulge in the seasonal favorites, but I also have my standby order. All coffee drink can be ordered regular or decaff as well as hot, over ice or blended. This adds points over any other place I’ve been where certain drinks often have one rigid way to order them. I absolutely love a banana cream pie(drink) with a plain or sesame bagel toasted with cream cheese. Though I also enjoy their blueberry scones. But this certainly isn’t the end of their edible treats! They serve cake, pie, cookies and even sandwiches and quiche! Another wonderful thing you’ll find inside is a shelf of games. This makes it a great place to go if you just want to spend some time with your friends or play a game of cards while enjoying a treat. And it’s a great way to occupy your kids if they get restless! Doozen’s is just an all-around great place that keeps me coming back every time I’m in town. If you haven’t been here yet, you are truly missing out. And if you enjoy your experience, grab a bag of their coffee on your way out so you can enjoy it at home!

I drive the 150 corridor between Lee’s Summit and Grandview on a pretty regular basis and I’ve seen this coffee drive thru and have been meaning to stop. Today was the day. It is everything I look for in a drive thru. Not a long wait in line. Extensive menu board with prices clearly marked. No fancy names for the various sizes and the sizes clearly marked in the number of ounces the beverage has. My order today was a 20oz Latte. No arguing with the Barista about the number of shots or making fru fru additions of flavors, which are often too sweet for my palate or just plain yucky. I’m a purist(almost since I do like cream in my black brewed coffee) when it comes to coffee. I think there was only one Barista working since I thought my latte took a bit of time to make, but the wait was worth it. It was flavorful, not bitter, and just the right amount of creaminess. Next time I just might add another shot of espresso for $.50, one of the most reasonable prices in the area, for a more intense flavor. My Latte was hot and served in those insulated Dixie paper cups that have a neat texture on the outside so there was none of those cardboard sleeves that get caught in my car’s drink holder. There was also a cute octopus sticker over the opening of the drinking cover to keep in the heat and prevent spilling. I also noted that they pretty sizable food menu for a store its size and look forward to trying a food offering to go with my coffee on my next visit. I also might try going inside to check out if it would be a good place to work or knit.

Great coffee. Free wifi. Horrible music unless you are a 17 year old girl. Of course I gave up on going inside a couple of years ago because the music is intolerable. Might have changed since then.

There are two ideals on a frigid, rainy day: taking a cozy nap wrapped in a warm blanket or indulging in a hot cup of joe. The latter of the two was chosen and as a result, a trip to Doozen’s was made. The order: a small Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Mocha and chicken salad on a croissant. The sandwich was absolutely fantastic. The creamy chicken salad topped with crisp lettuce, tasty tomatoes, and a buttery croissant became more and more delicious with every bite. Most important, the drink was scrumptious! The caffeine of choice was a simple mocha with peanut butter syrup added, but the simplicity did not matter. The mocha had an excellent blend of chocolate, peanut butter, and free of charge whipped cream that would leave any coffee lover longing for more even after the last sip. Your coffee can be enjoyed upon a cozy chair, in front of a fire place, with soft music in the background, and a pile of board games in close proximity. Not only can Doozen’s provide a safe cover from the rain, but can also provide hours of entertainment with games such as Candy Land and Scrabble. The customer service was fairly good. The two baristas were able to describe the drinks on the menu and were friendly enough, but did not make casual conversation nor have the desired bubbly enthusiasm needed in a superb barista. The only real disappointment is that you can not observe the barista making the drink. The espresso machine, syrups, and various posters block all drink making. Doozen’s has a very relaxing atmosphere and should definitely be at the top of any java lovers list!
