Terrible!!! The place is filthy, staff unfriendly and completely overpriced!!! We were the only people there(should have been a sign!) and all the plates at the table were filthy. We asked for new ones and the waitress seemed annoyed. The gentleman who cooked our food didn’t bother to make it a show at ALL(maybe because we were the only ones there– but still we were paying 100.00– ACTHAPPY!!!) The restaurant itself is dirtier than the plates were, the food may have been good– I am not sure because I lost my appetite! My children who don’t know any better loved the food but we will not be returning Go somewhere-anywhere else! Wont be surprised if this place gets shut down for health violations

Hair in my sushi, gross! My husband had general’s chicken. I have never seen him leave almost a full plate and not ask for a box. Although they did take my two rolls off the bill, they were not apologetic in the way you would expect. We will definitely not be returning. Ever.

One of the worst Japanese steak houses I’ve ever ate at. Service was horrible, atmosphere was very dirty, and food was barely edible… Needless to say we will not be going back there.

Favorite sushi in the metro. They main reason I enjoy Siki is everything tastes so fresh. Their spicy crab salad is a must! And I typically am not big on crab being the primary ingredient in foods. Service is always top notch and if you at the bar the chefs are quite engaging. The teppanyaki(sp?) grill is always entertaining and the food is always cooked perfectly!

Favorite place in KC for sushi. The crab salad and ahi tuna roll is our favorite. We have not tried the hibachi side

The spicy crab salad is the best! Have not found anyone else that does anything like it. Miso soup is great anytime, especially on these cold winter days. I’m also a big fan of the Diakon Roll because is full of sashimi with no rice.

First our waitress didn’t ask or offer to get my six year old anything to drink. It was very odd. Then she took our sushi menu before we had a chance to order. Then she took my daughters salad while she was still eating it. The fork was in her hand on the way back down to the plate. I had to ask for sauce and then it was only hollandaise and it was dark yellow. Sushi was neither here nor there. The food was okay but lacked real flavor. Overall a pretty terrible experience. We won’t be back.

They are reeeeally good. The restaurant is kind of a hole in the wall but they have excellent food and THE best sauces. Sushi is the bomb too. Must try.

Food was Ok but the bad service ruined the meal. Don’t bother. Spend your money at a restaurant that cares about service.

I am an avid sushi eater, must have at least every other week or the craving gets too much! I’ve been to many cities and sushi will be one of the things I always have to try. My number 1 criteria is that the raw fish needs to taste fresh and number 2 criteria is that there is limited cream cheese in rolls(because that is gross). Sushi rolls that I really liked were ahi tuna roll, white tuna roll, and this rolls with eel and avocado. It melt in my mouth! The fish was cut in a more generous manner and was very fresh tasting. I would not recommend the seafood udon because it is very very bland and doesn’t taste like much. Also the beef teriyaki is too sweet without enough savory and the meat is tough. Stick with sushi and you won’t be sorry!

I love coming here. Their sushi is good, and they have a unique clear sauce they put on the white tuna sushi that is amazing. I would recommend coming here if it’s close. They are very friendly, and have a great atmosphere.

Worst Japanese restaurant I’ve ever been to. The ramen was so bland-spaghetti in hot water with over-cooked veggies and tough meat! I couldn’t eat it. The service was terrible. The waiter was more interested in changing the TV channel.

Horrible! Stay away! My friend and I were craving sushi and since this place had some pretty good reviews, we tried it. We went in at about 1:45pm. The hostess seated us, then the server came over in a hurry and told usher close at 2pm and open again at 5pm. No big deal. We said we’ll leave.(We’ve both worked in a restaurant and never want to be «those» people.) The server said it’s fine and we didn’t have to leave, she just wanted to let us know. Well it clearly wasn’t fine because she hovered the whole time we were there. She rushed us to make our order, rushed us to eat, and rushed us to pay our bill. She stood right by our table the whole time we were there. Sadly, the food was awful. Price Choppers probably has better sushi, if not the same quality for cheaper. The tolls were practically a ball of rice, no filling. It didn’t taste fresh at all. Poor service and horrible food. You’ve been warned.

Good sushi ingredient preparations(good textured rice …), but their squid tepanyaki combo was poor. I have never tasted squid as tough and difficult to chew as their cubes drenched in sodium. The veggies were overcooked, and the same unappealing sauce used on the squid was used on our veggetables. On the flip side, their spider crab handroll and caterpillar roll were prepared well. I also enjoyed their crab and seaweed salad. if our tepanyaki combo was meant to be served with soup and dessert, well. we got neither. Service was very lax, the workers were pretty much in their own world

Came back. Again, unimpressed. They seem to have substituted more quality fish from their chirashi and replaced it with a second dollop of less expensive chopped pickled clam — it was rather disappointing. Their rice is bland, but, It does stick well. I ordered a grasshopper to drink but somehow got a kamikaze on ice instead. Again, frustrating. Seeing that they had no crème de menthe in sight, I just drank what they served. It wasn’t a terrible drink — just not what I ordered. Summary: kansas city has far better sushi bars to offer. I guess if you don’t want to leave lee’s summit, I don’t blame someone for going here. Better sushi, better atmosphere if you just drive a few miles… side thought: KC is ripe and begging for a good sushi restaurant.

Sashimi was fresh and definitely worth the price. Clear onion soup was good as was the squid salad. After reading other reviews, I’m disappointed I did not try the spicy crab salad! I broke my current low carb venture to try a piece of the fried mango crab roll, and felt it was worth it :) Great place for lunch!

I end up here for the spicy crab salad. I have to get tow helpings, mainly because a single helping is upsetting enough to the point where you say «I should have ordered more.» The sushi is very good as well, Thomas rolls are a delight, so are many others. Come to think of it, I have never had a bad roll from this place. Enjoy, everything on the menu is delectable.

I am from Hong Kong and have been to countless Japanese restaurants in Asia and here. This is THEWORST restaurant I have ever been to. For those who are looking for authentic Japanese food, DON’T COMEHERE. We ordered pork udon, rainbow roll, sake, and unagi rolls. I should have taken a picture of our pork udon. It was DISGUSTING. It was $ 8.95 and I can guarantee you that bowl of grossness did not cost more than $ 3 for them to make. It’s was not Japanese style udon at all. It had napa cabbage, carrots, broccoli, boiled pork and overcooked udon. I could have made that home(ANDBETTER). It was absolutely disgusting and a total rip off. Oh, and the bowl that they gave us was dirty. The sushi was really small, and they didn’t roll them tight. The salmon tasted old and gross. I am still pissed that I paid $ 36 for this crappy lunch. It was ridiculous. I am not a fast food person but I would choose McDonald’s over this place ANYDAY. I should have turned around and left once I saw a couple Mexicans running a sushi place anyway. We have been to Sushi Gin in Overland Park like more than 20 times and we’ve never had a bad experience. I will never come back again, and I don’t recommend anybody to come here.
