We love this place! We come about once/month for breakfast. Good food at reasonable prices. Coffee always fresh. Friendly, efficient staff. We especially enjoy the service from Peggy. Other reviewers have commented about the place not being clean, but I’ve been told that the restaurant was updated or remodeled or something and those reviews are not recent. We’ve never found it unpleasant.

Poor service. Food was very overpriced for the quality. I ordered an omelette and the quality of the ingredients just didn’t seem very fresh

Stood at the door for a few minutes just to get a feel for the place, it wasn’t very clean and the few plates of food I could see weren’t that enticing. I gave two stars just based on the fact that I was greeted right away, but I would not eat here because of the dirty look of the place.

Decided to try this place since we’ve never eaten here. Good size menu with plenty of options to choose from. Food wasn’t great but wasn’t terrible either. The place is filthy. It needs a deep cleaning bad!!!

The Good: The waitress was very nice, and service was prompt. I’m giving two stars instead of one because she was nice and also because it appeared to me that other people in the diner were satisfied. I looked around. The Bad: Daughter’s order of kid spaghetti looked and tasted strange, but somewhat familiar. Then it came to me, but since I’d last had this food product about thirty-five years ago, I can’t swear that it was… Chef Boy-R-Dee in a can. I had a cheeseburger that was ordered medium and came back well done. It was clearly a frozen pre-formed patty and it was not worth nine dollars. Fries were okay; they would have been very good if the oil was not a little old. The Ugly:(1) Bowl of fruit had little black spots in it, and the canteloupe was not completely peeled. I think the person who prepared it doesn’t see very well.(2) The carpets in this place look like they have not been washed in 20 years. Everywhere people walk regularly, the carpet is just black with ground-in dirt. Where people don’t walk all the time, you can see the carpet design. The carpet should be replaced, please.

Cherokee Lane is a busy commercial street with easy on-off hwy access at both north & south ends — Great for travellers. Very old building, but clean. We had breakfast here. Eggs benedict was super good !! Hollandaise from scratch with just the right amount of lemon. Eggs poached perfectly(which is not easy to do), with homefry potatoes. Service fast and coffee fresh. My better half had linguica & eggs with toast and cleaned the plate. It was so good, we decided to come back again.

Great food ! We had a party of six and everything came out fairly quick. Good and done right and I don’t know why someone wrote a bad review about the gravy. I myself make gravy from scratch and this was not canned.

Had my first Monte Cristo was pretty darn good, I think better without the powder sugar but I didn’t know. Wife had eggs Benedict thought sauce needed a little more lemon but said was decent. Home made mushroom soup good flavor All plates got cleaned so must have been good

While entering the doors I was greeted by an atmosphere that left me with really high hopes for this place. The waitress took our order and we waited, only for her to come back ten minutes later to tell me they did not have any potato skins. Which I’m sure they did, they just take time to make. Then I told her my replacement order only for her to completely forget what I said and come back minutes later. Then the moment of truth, my omelette arrived. And never was I so dissapointed. I replaced my sausage for cheese only to find two half melted pieces of store bought packaged kraft plastic cheese. Then the real kick in the teeth came, my biscuit and gravy was covered in CHICKEN gravy that tasted like it came out of a can. Who puts chicken gravy on breakfast? I have been a regular at several breakfast places in Lodi, from mediocre to amazing, but never have I been to a place I would recommend everyone to stay away from. I was so dissapointed I had to go home, sign up for a Unilocal account, and warn others not to waste their money on this overpriced low quality place

This was the second time I have been to this Location. This first time wasn’t amazing and this time was poor. Italian sausage sandwich was very bad. The sausage was NOT fresh and left a horrible taste in my mouth. The sourdough it was served on was only toasted on one side so the entire thing was soggy. The fries were frozen and not fresh and not seasoned. My grandfather had the $ 16 steak and eggs. The steak was TOUGH and not very high quality. The service was friendly, But they were so slow that employees were sitting down and playing in their phone. It was obvious the could have been doing the pile of dishes that were sitting in a bin out in the dinning room or washing windows. The ambience was okay. It seemed clean. I won’t be visiting again.

Dont let the«Bistro» name get you like it got me. Had breakfast. Ill pass. The steak an eggs was ok. Not good. Toast was warm bread, not ‘toast’. Eggs were ok(it’s hard to mess up an egg). Hash browns were stale and taste like reconstituted with water. No good at all. Two bites and that’s all I could take. The streak. Yech! A chunk of leather. Poorest quality steak. Breakfast steak an eggs with 1 drink. $ 22. Ill go to Denny’s

Over all decent place. I didn’t really care for the hash browns they were a little burned and bland but my eggs and bacon were good. Fast service and friendly waitress. I think I will try lunch next time.

To be fair, we were told this was the very first night that this new restaurant was serving dinner. Previously it was only breakfast and lunch and even that has not been open that long. This is in a location which is definately NOT in the best part of town. NOT an easy thing to overcome. For decades previously this place was known as Felten’s Topaz. A glorified coffee house/diner. After closing a few years back it has had several other incarnations such as an itialian joint and a few other random attempts. No one has suceeded thus far. Bay’s is attempting a semi-upscale menu despite its low-rent district location. Very ambitious. Our food was ok. some of it actually good, some just fair, some sad. I feel a dinner salad that accompanies a meal speaks VOLUMES of a place. EFFORT people; need not be pricey, but show some effort. ALL iceberg lettuce(blech), 2 tiny shreds of carrot. and dry, DRY croutons. SO much could be added by just SOME romaine or redleaf and even ONE slice of cucumber and ONE cherry tomatoe !! Like I said, sad. My veal was part of the«ok». Good sauce, slightly tough(loin but not white) veal«Picatta» I chose it because I love picatta as a meal, chicken or veal, AND because marsala and other styles all said they had mushrooms. So this was easy choice. So, what does the first attempt at my dinner arrive smotherd in? Yep. They were more than happy to fix it and apologized but I find it odd that things are not made as they are described on menu. But again, Like I said, their first night open for dinner so, ultimately, a pass on that faux pas. My son’s steak which was titled London Broil yet described as Tri-Tip(??? totally different cuts) was tasty. The vegetable side they served, unfortunately, another Sad. At the very best it was frozen and at the possible worst, canned veg. Mostly chopped cauliflower with a trace of broccoli and carrot. uniform size and SO overcooked. Just awful. We live in the produce capital of CA, let’s get whatever is fresh this season and use THAT as a veg side if we want to really be a «Bistro» ! Service was good since we were the only people there and they were more than happy to fix problems and apologize. Might go back but honestly, it will take some more hopefully postive Unilocal to give it another try. Previous reviews seem to enjoy the breakfast so maybe that. Agaian, they are new so let’s give them time perhaps !

Just had Fathers Day breakfast and it was wonderful. Great food & service. They cheerfully accommodated 2 toddlers &4 adults, 1 wheelchair. This was our 4th time for breakfast & will return. It’s been beautifully renovated from the old diner. Easy freeway access.

We found this totally by chance. Traveling home from Jackson, both of us famished, we saw the sign saying breakfast/lunch and went in. I can only write about the breakfast. The thing about breakfast food is you can screw it up but it is hard to shine, particularly with a Denver Omelette. Still, it was nicely done, did not skimp on ingredients etc. The country potatoes were real potatoes not like the instant potatoes made into lumps that I see too darn often. They have a beer/wine menu but have not yet got their license. Despite the sign that says breakfast/lunch they have a dinner menu and I do not know what that is about. As a new business their problem may be location/vs culinary ambitions. Prices were a bit higher than I would have expected given the location but right for the quality of the food. A solid 4 stars.
