Cedars Ocean View Inn

Very nice hotel, obviously remodeling. Our room was clean and new bed and bedding was a treat. Front desk man was welcoming and gracious. The view was awesome

Our family reserved a total of 8 3^rd floor rooms for an Uncles 90^th birthday celebration.
Although the rooms were clean and the view was wonderful, the manager at the desk made our visit less than spectacular. We had reservations for Friday and Saturday night, but we were delayed and didn’t arrive until Saturday morning. Instead of explaining that it was policy to rent out your room if you are late for check in, the manager refused to give us another room and made us wait until 3pm to check in.
Then this morning we had to wait to make our breakfast as he was making his. My friend spilt some milk and rather than get her a towel and offer to help clean it up, he watched as she mopped it with the thin little napkins.
We will not be staying here again.

Don’t listen to the poor reviews. Clean, big rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, big screen TV, very nice staff, close proximity to beach and town. Great for the price.

This place was great! Rooms are updated and really nice. Everything is clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and the price was right. Short walk to restaurants and the ocean. This will be our go to place moving forward!

Honestly wouldn’t even give this hotel the courtesy of one star. Such a HORRIFIC experience. We scheduled to go to the beach because I wanted to have my senior portraits captured at the coast. There is an annual run (hood to coast) that has every hotel and motel booked from Astoria to Newport. The 3-​floor motel was very overpriced ($ 200), and when we checked in, there were 3 little boys running wild all over the motel. Up and down the elevator, running, screaming and being boys.
We noticed they were right above us because of all the thuds and running feet booming across our ceiling. My mother is a very light sleeper, so we were concerned about the experience we were going to have. On top of all that, it was storming pretty hard. Gale force winds and lots of rain.
The doors to the lobby were locked and they were forcing everyone to enter through the side passageway, which had a shower of rain cascading at the entrance because there were no gutters on that section of roof. When I mentioned it to the receptionist (later found out he was the owner) he didn’t seem to care at all. Should have been our first clue. Trying to keep this short. The running boys were getting obnoxious. Again, no parents to be found. We decided to leave for dinner. When we returned, and were settling in for the night (around 8:30), the noise was constant. Stomping, running and we decided it was time to officially say something. This had been going on for 4.5 hours! We called the front desk and they said they’d call and say something. Half an hour went by and still nothing… We poked our heads out the door and heard a woman chastising the kids, telling them this was not a playground and they needed to be respectful of the other guests. My father decided it was time to call the front desk and let them know this was not the experience I was expecting to have at this motel, at any motel and be clear that they needed to deal with this immediately. We called the front desk and explained that my mom called half an hour ago and we’re still hearing the kids running wild across our ceiling. This has been going on for nearly 5 hours now and you need to go up there and demand that they get those kids under control move them/​us to a new room or I’m expecting a full refund in the morning. He told my father that he was not to threaten him and that he wanted me to leave the motel immediately. My father was not threatening him whatsoever, but making it clear what his expectations were and what he was willing to do if he did not deal with the situation at hand. He started talking over me and demanded that we pack up immediately and leave the motel. We were in shock and told him we’d be formally complaining to the management, he said he was the owner and that if we did not leave immediately, he’d call the police to have me escorted off his property. I started to ask him why and he hung up on me. So, my dad went down there to talk with him in person. My mom offered to be the mediator and talk to him first. She went down and he pretty much wouldn’t even listen or engage. He told her she needed to leave immediately. When she came back, my dad left and walked into the lobby, and the owner began to scream at my father and provoke him in a fight. The manager was HORRIBLE. He was cursing and even pushed his own wife to the ground at one point. The police came, we explained what had happened, and there was nothing he could do although he tried to suggest some places for us to look, but also said that it was going to be really hard to find any place to stay. So, we decided to just drive the three hours home. We aren’t even sure that the couple with the kids were even asked to leave. This was the classic «kill the messenger» situation. Now I have to wait another two weeks to get my senior portraits done because we had to drive back home at midnight. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT stay here.

If I could give a negative star I would. Night front desk worker «manager» is a mean person, that doesn’t honor her employees agreements. Plus if you show up past 10pm from maybe driving all day you might not have a room. Just saying.

We (2 Adults, 2 Kids– 5 Year, 1 Year) booked this hotel (Cedars Inn at Long Beach, WA) through Expedia. Since we were planning to carry our pet also, I enquired with both parties if this should be fine:
* Hotel Property– Yes, that should be fine. Need to pay $ 15 charges.
* Expedia Representative– After checking through Hotel info: Yes, that should be fine. Booked the room.
On the Check-​in Day: As we were getting late and expected to reach Hotel around 10:30 PM, I called up hotel @ 7:30 PM to intimate (as per Hotel policy if you plan to check in post 10:00 PM).
Me– Hi, we are still on our way and should be reaching by 10:30 PM. Can you please let us know who would help with room in night.
Hotel– Hi. That’s fine. You can pay now, we will get you checked in. I will leave the room open for you.
Me– Great. Works for me.
Hotel– Total charges are $XXX
Me– We also have a pet. Please include his charges too.
Hotel– The rooms booked through «Expedia» are not pet friendly. You can’t have this room. Expedia should have this info on their website.
Me– I checked with Expedia beforehand and also called up at hotel to confirm on this. No one mentioned this point. Nothing such stated on Expedia website.
Hotel– You can’t have this room. I am going to cancel your reservation.
Me– Is there a way out! It’s already 07:30 PM.
Hotel– Your reservation has been cancelled. Disconnects.
Me & Family– Left stranded on the road (101 Highway — near Garibaldi).
Use at your own discretion — if you are signed up for such unplanned adventures!

Ok five stars here is why:
1. They have clearly built themselves up from nothing.
Completely redone interior of the rooms.
Everything is clean and modern.
Yes, i have been in fancier hotels– but that isn’t why i think they deserve five stars.
2. The staff. I felt like the crew really loves working together. They were so happy to help anytime i asked for anything at all.
Sure i have been placed with more to offer-​but amenities aren’t everything.
3. The owner. I have been places where the owner has ruined my trip, but, here he is a reason to come stay here.
We came out on memorial day weekend because it is our son’s birthday and he loves the beach…
We were down enjoying a cup of coffee and a waffle. He was chatting with everyone there making the visit feel like we were part of the family. He was warm, funny, charasmatic and helpful.
Well my son announced it was his birthday, the owner asked what room we were in and i told him-​i didn’t think anything of it.
We went out to enjoy our trip and when we came back-​there was a birthday cake in our room from the owner.
So sure there may be somewhere you can find more ammenties– but if you want a clean place to stay next to the beach where they treat you like family.. this is the place to go.

WORST HOTEL EVER!!! Completely the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. I am utterly disgusted by this place, and I am honestly surprised they are still open for business. Not to mention ants and cockroaches in the rooms. Disgusting place with disgusting people. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I was hesitant to book this room based on reviews (here and on other sites), but I wanted somewhere within budget that was close to the water. So I took a chance… and it worked out!
We arrived in town «late», it was approaching 8pm and most of the town appeared to have gone to bed already, which I wasn’t expecting, but it was my first time in Long Beach. The friendly gentleman that checked us in suggested where to go that wasn’t already closed, as we were starving. He joked that if they end up being closed, he’d share his dinner with us. The hotel does have a free continental breakfast, which was welcome. Free wifi, no problems connecting and staying connected.
The rooms are outdated and the carpet is pretty bad. BUT! They’re renovating! Some improvements are already in place — huge HD TVs, they’re replacing carpet with laminate, new paint and exterior. One of the biggest non-​suite hotel rooms I’ve been in. When they’re done, this place will be a fab place to stay.

The Cedars is good for me because 1) no pool (no kids screaming all over and running into me) and 2) my need for economy, as their prices are lower than average. The location is primo if you love the beach. If you are a window shopper then know The Cedars is right next to the best shop block in Long Beach, with a bakery, a candy store, a boutique, a funland entertainment center for both kids and adults, and several excellent clothing /​gift shops. Same with the beach — not only can you get a room with a view (2^nd or 3^rd floors, ask for the best rooms with view) and you can walk out and enjoy the shore anytime you feel like it. I don’t smoke, so the smoking ban is just fine with me, and I can bring my dog if I want a downstairs unit. I prefer to leave him home and stay upstairs for the view — 3^rd floor. Staff is very professional, and one last thing: CLEAN! Outstanding job! I do not forget the maid staff when I leave. The small hotels/​motels still use maids and they deserve a buck or five for their work, most of them get minimum wage. We were serviced by the nicest woman, Brandy was her name, and she gave us fresh towels and coffee whenever we wanted. We’ll be back!

Giving it 4 stars. It’s not fancy, it’s not best out together, but it was clean and a place to sleep. Went over Labor Day weekend 2014 and got a 1 queen room (room 104) for $ 150 after tax/​fees, not bad compared to most. Room was clean, front receptionist/​manager friendly and nice also. Very close to beach and walking distance to everything. Large 50″ tv in room and large fridge also, plus microwave.
The door was annoying because it stuck when opening and shutting so had to force open and shut but that and sloppy painting inside is my only complaint

Me, my husband and two year old daughter stayed here for the kite festival weekend. It was my husbands first time in Long Beach so I wanted somewhere to stay right in town. It is a great location, within walking distance to everything. We had no problem checking in, I got really lucky and was able to book this room online a week before the festival. Somebody must have cancelled. The owners are very friendly and were very concerned about the man that was escorting traffic and people in front of the hotel. Lets just say he was very reluctant to let us in so we could park. They said we were not the only ones and were going to talk to him. I appreciated that.
I don’t understand how people can be so picky on here about the rooms. So there is soap and shampoo in a dispenser, who cares? So there was some bird crap on your window, it happens, get over it. The room was clean and provides everything you need for a stay. It even had a microwave which I was surprised by. We were able to watch the fireworks from our room, which was very nice. All in all it was a good stay. The only reason I would not give this 5 stars is because it is a little outdated compared to some of the other hotels. But with what it is working with 4 stars is fitting.

EXTRA CHARGED BY THE HOTEL for something not in their policy and WAS SHOUTED AND PHONE GOT HANG UP TWICE.
BTW, SAFETY PIN IN YOUR QUILT!!! Really hope you are lucky enough not to get poked.
Have told this ridiculous story to friends and asked them to stay away from this. Was poked by one of the safety pins in the quilt but just want to be nice and forget about it. But three days after we are back home, we got a notification in the mail saying we are charged $ 50 for moving the bed. This is the most interesting reason we’ve ever heard. Plus it is not written down anywhere.
I called them today regarding the extra charge. A lady picked up the phone and we were talking, before I heard a man talking with the lady and the phone was hung up while I was talking. I called back again and The man shouted to me just after I said hi: «Don’t call again, don’t come back again. I don’t want you.» And the phone was hung up again.
Makes no sense for me to waste time on them but just want to save potential time and trouble for people here on Unilocal

We absolutely loved this place. Centrally located, albeit a little loud next to the beach access road. It was VERY clean and the staff were wonderful. Nice big flat screen TV to enjoy at the end of a day at the beach. Myron at the front desk could not have been more accommodating, and was absolutely a stitch to visit with when we stopped in the office for anything. We will definitely return!

I understand this is an older motel buy it needs to be updated.
We had enough hot water for one shower. The chairs had stains and cuts. The door was painted with spray paint and it was chipping.

I always want to give the people the benefit but this is not acceptable .
Now I know why they rooms available on the busiest weekend.

We first attempted to stay here a few months ago when the former owners were in charge. So in July, we were a bit bummed when we found this was the only place to stay in our beloved Long Beach. We figured we wouldn’t be in the room all that much, so it wouldn’t be all that bad. I have to say I was impressed with the new owners, the lobby and the room. We booked through
and didn’t realize we weren’t allowed to bring our dog (we brought her with us last time, and they said they could accommodate pets). Well, I was very appreciative they were willing to let us keep our dog in the room if we paid the pet fee. I thought the issue was done, but little did I know these guys don’t understand the concept of what’s done is done. When I checked out, I wanted to let them know how pleased we were with our stay and how much nicer it was than the last time we were here. Well, the guy reamed me a new one about having my pet. I totally understand the pet policy, and appreciated they didn’t make me keep my dog in the car for the 16 hours we were there, but I thought guilt tripping us when we were checking out was a bit of a moot point.
Now, that being said, I liked our room (especially the view) — the linens were nice, the carpets clean, and even though the television was old, at least it was there. I have a feeling they are going to be replacing the televisions, as I saw a bunch of flat screen tv’s in the office area. They do have a breakfast, although it is disappointing. They have waffles, which is great, but so does everyone else, and they have cereal, fruit and pre-​wrapped pastries. I thought they could maybe include some toast or bagels — or just something more than the bare-​bones they served. Maybe as the new owners get things figured out, these things will change.
But first, I think they need to improve their customer service skills and they will be on their way to being pleasant.

I mean, this place is alright… I’ve been in worse hotels before.
We stayed here since it was my boyfriends birthday weekend so it worked out without booking issues. The staff WERE professional, very nice and asked if we needed anything, not sure what the other reviewers were talking about.
Only issues is our room smelled like pee. And yes, the floors were kinda dirty. Our friends room on the other hand had large blood stains on the box spring, almost like someone bled out all over the bed. Pretty scary sight to see.
The bathrooms were cute but the shower heads on both our room and our friends room had terrible water pressure. It generally only takes the boys 5 minutes to take a shower but it took them 30 minutes to even rinse off well and properly, including me, with long hair that took way longer to rinse than it should. Taking the shower head off didn’t do much either.
The noise level was very low compared to most hotels so I am thankful for that. We were all pretty loud and our neighbors couldn’t even hear us so that says a lot.
I guess if you’re desperate for a room this place works. But if you want something overly nice and classy, this is definitely not for you. We just were trying to avoid staying in the Super 8!

This place was awful. They trash talked the super 8 stating their rooms were much better. We get in the room that smells funny and shut the door behind us. When we turn around the door has green spray paint all over it for some unknown reason. There is paint on the floor as well as the sink knob.
In the bathroom there is a red glob of what appears to be blood and the toilet seat is severly peeling. On the wall in the living area we find small dots of red in a spray pattern. The mattress and box spring became exposed due to the sheets not fitting correctly. The once white box spring and mattress were now stained brown. On one of the beds there were multiple stains that looked like blood. The mattress cover also had similar stains. The box spring had a hole in it and looked/​felt like it was 30 years old. This place was absolutely disgusting and doubt that it will even be in business much longer.
Bring your own pillows, sleeping bags and anti bacterial bottles if you want to risk it. You might also research recent violent crimes in the area. Pretty sure someone was either murdered or killed themselves in that room… seriously. Super 8 is a great place if you are just looking for a cheap place to lay your head. Not fancy but is clean and practical. Or you can sleep in a dumpster-​either one would be cleaner than the cedar inn.

The rooms are meh, the view would have been nice if there wasn’t bird shit smeared across the window LOL.
When we checked in a bottle of milk was still sitting out on the breakfast table along with a few bagels and old butter… It was like 2 in the afternoon… so I may not eat breakfast here tomorrow morning.
