When we moved to the area in 2014, I search Unilocal for an optometrist and chose Dr DeCarlo based on his very high review ratings. I’m one of those fussy people who can’t stand even the slightest blur in my vision so of course its traditionally been hard for me to get the right prescription. I was very surprised when he knocked it out of the park (he’s a big baseball fan) on my first visit. I returned this week and again received exceptional care. Maureen helped me choose just the right frames and the entire staff was friendly and accommodating. They worked with my insurance to get the best benefit on a blended lens in a classy Gucci frame and a computer/​reading lens in a very cool Geek frame.
If you are fussy like me… you should definitely visit DeCarlo Optometry!

This was the best eye doctor I’ve ever gone to. They were so sweet and the really helped get me new glasses. The Dr really took his time and made sure my prescription was perfect. I can see so much better, more clear and more detail. Definitely my primary now!!!

I was referred here by a friend who has been coming to Dr. DeCarlo for many years. I was very happy with my experience. Everyone is very pleasant and professional. I was going out of town and they were able to rush my order. They seemed genuinely interested in what I wanted and didn’t try to upsell me. They made an error on one of my pairs of glasses. They were apologetic without being obsequious. More importantly, they corrected them quickly. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

The staff was extremely hospitable throughout the process of scheduling and I was even able to schedule a same day appointment. Dr. DeCarlo, OD was very patient, thorough, and friendly and personally guided me through my various options on contact lenses. I’m a happy customer and will be coming back!

Had a good experience during my daughter’s consultation both times we came here. Problem is the after care. The moment you tell them you’re not purchasing glasses from them, you’re nothing. Have to specifically ask for the prescription, then when you try and get them to help you reading it for online ordering purpose it’s suddenly company policy to not help you. Their attitude is that whoever makes the glasses will know how to read it, and that’s it. Needless to say, I’ll take my business elsewhere next time.

Dr DeCarlo and his staff are the Best! If you need an eye exam, glasses, contacts, or sunglasses this is the place to go! Great selection of frames and the staff are so helpful!

Staff was friendly… until I raised concern about why I was being charged so much for a visit that was covered under my VSP insurance. I was told more than once before my visit that my insurance covers the exam and a pair of glasses or a supply contacts. However, I was charged an extra $ 65 dollars for a «contact lense fitting» that I did not ask for and I was not warned that they were even performing it or that I would be billed for it. When I asked the staff about my bill, she replied rudely that obviously it costs extra and they ‘assumed’ I wanted the fitting. After I had asked, the staff was then rude and short, as if I offended them for asking. Extra charges should be explained upfront, I am a student and cannot afford surprise bills. When I went back to pick up my glasses, they did not fit them to me, just looked at them and said «fits fine» and walked away. Customers should be allowed to raise questions about billing without a backlash of attitude and poor service. I will find another optometrist, even though he himself was nice.

The staff is totally friendly and helpful. The doctor was super nice and thorough. Their $ 99 deal is excellent! It’s super clean and inviting. I’m definitely going to return here from now on!

Dr Decarlo lived up to the rave reviews he has on Unilocal.I had one of the most thorough exams ever. He recommended a new contact lens to me that let’s 40% more oxygen into my eyes. Thanks doc! See you next time

My wife and I love this place. Dr. Decarlo is the MAN!!! He’s very easy to work with and this man knows his stuff! Oh, did I mention that he’s a die hard Chicago Cubs fan which is the only reason I decided to stop by this place to begin with… GO CUBBIES!!! Anyway, thanks, Dr. Decarlo and keep up the good work.

I found this optometrist office (Dr. Decarlo) online and was able to make a same day appointment. The staff helped me tremendously in finding the right pair of glasses to fit head and face structure. My glass were ready within days of my offer. Amazing experience and great customer service!

Totally helped me in the eleventh hour! Right before closing I had a glasses emergency and they helped in every way possible with sweet and accommodating attitudes. Highly recommend.

I have always had a great experience here. I injured my eye playing basketball a few years ago and Dr. Decarlo was great. I came in today for a regular eye exam and it went smoothly. Olivier was awesome and he got my glasses made in like 15 minutes! He was so helpful when picking out my frames. The front desk staff is very friendly and easy to talk to. I’m pretty sure I won’t go anywhere else. This place came recommended to me by 3 other people. This is definitely the spot to go in long beach for glasses!

Let me just say Dr. Decarlo was a nice man but his staff is SO rude. If you’re not buying from their store then they will give you the cold shoulder and talk to you as if they don’t value you as a patient. I called to verify a prescription but because I wanted my prescription to buy glasses online for a cheaper price (I’m a student!) the receptionist refused to help and said good luck and hung up. I’m sorry but just because I’m not buying from your overpriced selection does not mean I am not a patient. It is an optometrist not a sales store, right? I didn’t ask for any help buying glasses online I simply asked to verify the prescription because the handwriting was not legible. I will NOT be returning anymore, learn some customer service lady. If I could give 0 stars I would.

I have been going to Dr. De Carlo since he opened his business about 20 years. He is very caring and thorough. He only recommends what you need ! He accepts insurance and it is very easy to schedule an appointment. His office staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.
He offers a WIDE variety of frames from the least expensive to designer frames.
