My wife couldn’t wait to go to this restaurant. She had heard and read great things. We had a 6:00 reservation on a Saturday night. First they wanted to seat is a the«bar stool» table for 2 near the door where the winter cold from the front door lived. My wife asked to be reseated at a regular table. After a much shagrin by the hostess, we were seated at a regular table. Next on to the menu. First up was the Roasted Brussels sprouts. Yes, the were roasted, roasted to a crisp. The only taste we got was the sauce which seemed to appear on other dishes we ordered. It was kinda a ranch dressing all salted up. Next came the flat iron steak. Fair at best. The potatoes were a little over done as well as coated with the special sauce. Finally the duck, also a bit salty. They star they earned was for the waitress and her pleasant service. No, we won’t be going back.

If you can get a reservation, DONOTMISSIT! Hard to get in, BYOB(a plus imo) and the seasonal menu is outrageous. Cozy environment,(yes you are most likely going to be seated next to a stranger) staff is pleasant and Chef Alexis is phenomenal. What a great place. If the brussel sprouts are on the menu when you go they are a must try. I do not eat seafood and there was still plenty of food I was able to enjoy.

What a hidden gem of a restaurant in Long Beach. Last night my date and I came here on a Wednesday around 8 pm. Luckily, we were able to just waltz in without a reservation to a table. although we must have just missed the rush. By about 8:30 there was a line forming at the door, so I would recommend making a reservation — just in case. Very intimate, small restaurant. Dim chandelier lighting with candlelit tables, beautiful artwork on the walls. Worn, hardwood furniture and floors… and my favorite: mounted bullhorns over the kitchen area where you could view the Chef and sous Chef preparing the meals. Plates are generally to share, even though portions are very modest. For both of us, four plates to share were the perfect amount. They brought us slightly toasted bread with warmed(!) butter, seasoned with sea salt and an herb I tried so hard to pinpoint, maybe parsley? We asked for more bread, just to be sure. We ordered the Wedge salad to start, Brussels Sprouts, Pork Belly and then the Sea Bass. The Wedge salad had thick diced bacon, cut red grapes, finely crushed nuts and a buttermilk dressing. Unreal. The flavors all worked so well together. Two of these could have been my meal and I would have left one happy Jess. Next they brought us the Pork Belly plate. Come on. Seared beautifully with a great crust that alone was well seasoned, but paired with the harissa dressing on the side and a garlicky parsley-herb salad. It just sang. The Sea Bass was served next. Grilled and flaky, with pickled leeks on top, laid over a bed of baked thick cut carrots and a creamy sauce. This is the sauce we requested more bread for and did not regret a damn thing about it. They brought out the Brussels Sprouts last which we thought was an odd time to bring them out. The Brussels Sprouts were the size of a baby’s fist. Huge. This was my date’s least favorite dish, which was slightly understandable because of the balancing act of savory and sweet flavors. However, I really did enjoy how they were baked to a char, it added a nice depth of flavor. A tasting menu in Long Beach, charmed indeed.

Believe the Hype! Outstanding flavors and such a nice change to the neighborhood food choices. They now have their liquor license(wine and beer). The wine choices were good. The four of us had the potatoes which were really amazing, the flat iron au poivre steak looked like a small portion but it was enough for one person and it was dynamic. The crispy skin striped bass was really nicely done and the crab salad with spicy potato purée and flatbreads was a great compilation. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

My parents, more so my dad, kept talking about this place Lost and Found, and he kept telling me I should go with them sometime when I’m home on Long Island. That happened this past weekend. I was home on LI with no dinner plans, so I suggested we go. My dad called and easily made a reservation for 3 at 7pm. When we got there there were some people, but it wasn’t too crowded. The place is really cute and rustic looking. Wood tables, a whole wall of pictures, and an open kitchen so you can see what’s cooking. They have a counter by the kitchen, the chef’s table, and we asked to sit there, but someone already reserved it. oh well. The menu is designed to be shared. It’s mostly small plates with most dishes under $ 20 and then a few bigger/pricier things. So we ordered a bunch of plates to share. I wish I had taken a picture of the menu, so I could remember exactly what we had. We ordered crispy brussel sprouts that had garlic chips on top and a really good sauce. We got crab salad which was really good too, it came with crackers that were in this kind of spicy cold mashed potato, and some pickled veggies. My dad ordered a special that night, which was a beef stew. It wasn’t as thick as I would have imagined, but the broth and everything in it was great. For more of a main dish we got duck and crispy stripped bass. Again, not to be repeative, but all of it was really good! The portions weren’t huge, which was good cause it left us room for dessert. We got bread pudding and profiteroles. The bread pudding was so good, and had some raspberries on the side. The profiteroles were served with fudge to dip it in. After dessert I was stuffed! Everything was really so good. Even the bread they give you was nice and warm, and soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. It was cool that everything was made to order, and you could see the chef making it. The chef even came out from behind the counter to say hello to everyone at the tables. The only downside for me, is that it’s cash only, and they are currently in the process of trying to get a liquor liscense so they don’t have any alcohol and you can’t bring any with you. I know before it was BYOB, but you can’t do that anymore. I mean it’s fine to have a meal without a drink, but a glass of wine with dinner is always nice. This place is really great though! Definitely go! I’ll be happy to go back when I’m home on Long Island sometime.

Eclectic dining on the west end of long beach, NY. Food is well prepared, ambiance is casual and flavor combinations are excellent. BYO all around so dont forget that diet Pepsi and the Chardonnay. Servers are a bit snooty but hey, thats long island! Owner and chef came out to greet one of my dinner guests who he grew up with! Local people here whipping up awesome foods. Will return when i want to impress advanced pallets.

Amazing! Love the set up of the restaurant and the décor. It’s very hip and cozy. Food is incredible. Yesterday had the wedge salad, venison tartare, soup, and duck breast to share with two other friends. Perfect amount of food. Would recommend ALL those dishes and excited to taste more!. Interesting ingredients, beautiful presentation. 10⁄10 for all dishes and my entire experience. Jacki is an awesome server! Love it here will definitely be back :)

Ok, I’m confused! 99.9% of reviews about this place rave about its food. Maybe I was just there on the wrong night. I had the Venison tartare which was amazing and then it was all downhill! Scallops, steak, fish, mushrooms, broccoli we kept trying more dishes hoping to get back to how much we enjoyed the first but all sooooo salty. And it was not only my opinion but even my guest agreed. Though you could tell that all were cooked to perfection but Way too much salt! It was so over powering that’s all you tasted it was so disappointing. And I know my food, I’m not confusing salt with other spices! It was too much salt! May give it one more try since all say it’s amazing! But so far extremely disappointed!

Five stars is nowhere near enough. Besides having a phenominal crew working here the food is insane! My mouth was watering walking into the place with the smells of deliciousness everywhere! The chefs are fantastic and a lot of fun, the entire staff is amazing and I can say I love them. My palette has never been so happy! My fiancé… a stickler for his water glass always being full had not a single complaint! They are on point and I highly recommend! BYOB and cash money only baby! I wish I could live here! there aren’t enough stars one could give… even Cartman is a fan

Dumb, crazy, stupid, good food that will make you wanna smack your Momma while you’re dancing the Bachata… Unbelievably surprising quality of food for the Long Island scene. I have to rate this my all time favorite restaurant outside of the five Burroughs and inside of America. I don’t know if I hit a perfect night when the Chef, staff, and stars were all aligned or its like this every night but I’m definitely going back to find out. Atmosphere is amazing due to the open kitchen which is constantly moving like a fine piece of machinery thats perfectly greased and in tune. Food was to die for and definitely served, presented and prepared with almost an infatuation for the satisfaction of the consumer. Service was impressive and down right skillful with such a small amount of table top they made a six course meal flow like I was sitting at a banquet table with room to spare. Not to mention my glass of water never hit bottom once. All in all the Lost and Found shall never be Lost in my memory banks and I’m more than glad that I Found it.

Lost & Found, as reviewed by a ‘basic betch’ from the suburbs of Long Island… Debbie and I arrived and were like, ‘Oh Em Gee’ this place is so smahll. I hate it when restaurants crahm you next to strahngers. Good thing it’s Bee Why Oh Bae, we brought a 1.5 liter bottle of White Girl Rosay. We ordered the Seared Scallops(sauce gribiche, fennel powder) and the green stuff was dahlicious. It tasted just like fresh bahsil. The pohtahtoes(truffle, grana) were super crispy and like to die fur. The pork belly(cider glazed, celery root remoulade, pumpkin seed oil) is like the best thing ever, but its like so bahd for you. I already reserved my bike at Soul Cycle tomorrow, I’m gonna need to burn off this faht and cahlories. Mallory is teaching the clahss, I love her playlist. The hanger steak(balsamic onions) was like so tender you could cut it with a furk, and it was like totally covered in yummy onions. We also had the charred broccoli(ginger dressing, shiro miso, garlic crumble) and Debbie was like, ‘Oh Em Gee who know Brockalay could taste so gahd’. We saved room for dessert, Obvi. The s’mores were amazing. When the waitress asked if we were finished, Debbie was like«I’d like S’MORE please!». I was like, ‘EL Oh EL’ Debbie is like so crahzy sometimes. We are totahlly coming back to Lost & Found, it’s like, the place to bae…

This review is about the hospitality of this place and not the actual food, I have heard great things about the food that’s why i gave it a 2 instead of a 1. We walked in one day, the place was absolutely empty. We asked for a table for 4 and the proceeded to put us at the front high stool«table» or whatever you want to call it. However, I informed them that my mother is disabled and literally cant step up onto the stool(she walked in with a cane and barely able to walk so it was clear). We asked that they put us at a regular table and they said sorry we must hold those for reservations only. Look i understand a place wants to hold tables for reservations but honestly they could of put the 4 people who came for the table up at the high table. It was completely obvious that she was disabled and they just didn’t want to accommodate a disabled old woman. Food is probably great as I have heard but I wont be returning.

I guess I have to write this review although I’d love to keep this pearl of an eatery to myself. First off BYOB, Cash only, Reservations. This is what you really need to know. Oh and yes the food, well it pretty much speaks for itself, creative, well seasoned, flavors that pop and nothing tastes flat or underwhelming. You can tell that the chef/owner cares about the integrity of his product and cares for his guests, occasionally coming out from behind the line and greeting people like a good chef should. Superb.

This is one of those reviews I dread writing, mainly because there is already difficulty getting reservations, but when a restaurant is this good, it deserves all the praise it can get. Lost and Found is a serious«find.» I had the opportunity to meet Alexis the chef when we went there late on a Saturday night for dinner, and he could not have been a nicer guy. He, and his staff genuinely care about the food and the experience. They were attentive, made great suggestions and made for a fun night. We had the gazpacho, the tuna poke, the octopus(probably the best octopus I have ever had), the lamb chops, the beet salad(also great), and the lemon chiffon pie for dessert. There was not a weak dish in the bunch, everything was perfectly executed and the flavors were explosive. The décor is very«Williamsburg-esque» with a simple design, very clean, yet cool. It’s not a large restaurant, which is probably why it is so packed. As far as restaurants go in Long Beach, it is by far the best one I have ever eaten at, and I expect to be a regular there. FYI– It is BYO.

This place is a found treasure. The food is super tasty and the restaurant has so much character. Don’t leave without getting the pork belly and fig salad. One piece of feedback, the hostess could of been friendlier. We felt like she was trying to discourage us by inflating the expected wait time, BYOB, and cash only rule. I’m glad we didn’t let her stop us. I also heard her doing this to others which is a shame. I’m sure the owner is looking to be a neighborhood staple not scare people off.

Very cool spot in the west end of LB. Reminds me of Swallow in Huntington before they expanded. Call for reservations ahead of time bc there are only a handful of tables(get the chef table!). L&F has a very Williamsburg-y feel and a friendly, community type vibe from the patrons. Like you’re all in the cool club bc you found the place. The shades are down, lights low, great soundtrack in the background, open kitchen is firing away. it’s a cool scene amongst the riff raff of Beech St. To the food! I rocked a garlic roasted chicken for two($ 45), zucchini salad($ 10) and truffled potatoes. The salad was excellent. Lots of fresh ingredients in a nice vinaigrette and then covered in cheese. Watch out for the pickled shallots though. They’re delish, but will ruin your game for the rest of the eve. I was fighting for the curry fried chicken, but my date would run for the hills of I ordered that, so we settled on the garlic roasted chicken. So happy we did. It was incredibly moist and flavorful. Even the driest parts of the bird were tasty when dipped in the leftover au jus that settled on the plate(more more!). The potatoes were good too, however the cheese on top took away from any truffle flavor I could find. Not that it mattered, I ate 90% of those crunchy bad boys anyway. The place is small, so you can always find your server and they are friendly as can be. My only criticism… — Most of the seating here is on stools and they are some of the worst I’ve sat on in a long while lol(can’t believe I’m writing about a stool). But seriously, they are TINY and my date and I had to get all shifty to get comfy on them(and we’re not big peeps). Protip: As of now it’s CASHONLY and BYOB :) Do it!
