Horrible service for locals. Made reservations for 2 at 7:00 pm several days in advance for my wife’s birthday. We showed up at 6:40 and were told we would have to wait until 7:00. No big deal, we didn’t expect to be seated early since they were busy. 7:00 comes and goes and we are still waiting, meanwhile three couples who came in after us and after 7:00 were seated ahead of us with the host never even acknowledging we were there. At 7:20 when we finally decides to leave and let him know he could cancel our reservation all of a sudden he was«just getting ready to seat» us. No explanation of why he seated three couples ahead of us at our reservation time. I know it’s not a big dent in their profits but this couple is NEVER going back.

My sister and I took a trip to Long Beach to celebrate her birthday weekend. We stayed at the Adrift so it only made sense to check out the Pickled Fish. They had live music from 9−11pm that we were able to check out. We were seated by the window and close to the music which would be a perfect spot during daylight hours. It was a little hard to talk to each other for obvious reasons, but we enjoyed some good drinks and their french fries were perfect for a late night snack. Our waitress was cool and gave recommendations for what drinks to order. We really enjoyed our drinks, however they were a little overpriced. I was going between 3 and 4 stars, but settled on 3 stars because I’m sure if I stayed at the Adrift again and was able to get here before the sunset I would give them another shot, especially if I was celebrating something. But to say«Yay! I’m a fan» when I could barely hear my sister, paid almost $ 50 for 4 drinks and a side of fries, and could only see random headlights of cars driving on the beach would be madness.

This is our second time staying in Long Beach at the Adrift Hotel. I was hesitant to try the«Pickled Fish» our first time around because it seemed a bit more expensive than we are used to. This time, however, we went to the Pickled Fish on our first night to enjoy a bite of food and some live music. The music was wonderful… but the calamari we ordered was perhaps the best I(or we) have ever had! We returned the next night for dinner. This was some of the most amazing food we have ever had! A wood-fired Margherita pizza, the most amazingly fresh local oysters, and their«dirty-dirty» fries with garlic, Italian peppers, local goat cheese, fried pork belly, and truffle catsup. Yea, we will be back!!!

The service was superb, our server was Mathew who was very friendly and attentive. The«dirty dirty» fries were excellent! The pork belly Mac and cheese was delicious! And the pepperoni wood fired pizza was perfect! I had a ginger beer that was the best I’ve ever had! Good quality ingredients! Beautiful atmosphere! New favorite place! You guys rock! See you soon!

Great food, locally sourced, prepared very well. We stayed at the Adrift Hotel(also highly recommended for a relaxing, fun place for couples or families — also super pet friendly… sorry, I digress… so we decide to check out the restaurant on the 4th floor. We have had 3 meals since arriving in Long Beach on Fri night — each one right here at the Pickled Fish! We have had dinner twice and lunch once. Next we’ll have breakfast. The pizza is simply the best I’ve had anywhere — fennel sausage with banana peppers, mushrooms, mozzarella and Parmesan baked in a wood-fires oven. We had it with the mixed green salad & some local brew and were very satisfied. We also enjoyed listening to the folksy-bluegrass-bluesy tunes of McDougall — they have live music every night except Tue & Wed(winter schedule). Today for lunch we had — again, the BEST clam chowder to pass my lips. The fish & chips was OK — fish was flavorful & moist, but the batter wasn’t cooked to a golden crisp, so it was a tad soggy. The hand cut fries, however, were very crispy and paired with a delicious truffle ketchup(or catsup for you catsup lovers). We also had the pickled vegetable plate with a nice array of tangy, pickled cauliflower, celery, onions, mushrooms & cranberries. It was very good. Tonight for dinner we had the steamed clams — a generous serving in a delicious broth with some focaccia bread. We also had the roasted Brussels sprout Caesar salad which was delicious. We shared the crab cakes entrée — two huge, crab-filled cakes with a spicy drizzle of remoulade, served in a crispy, tangy Apple slaw. We paired this with the WA state Open Road Viognier(2011), which was exceptionally good. I’m kind of amazed that any restaurant in the hotel of a little beach town could be good enough to keep me from going elsewhere, but Pickled Fish did it! Desserts… oh head, they have a great selection, including a «Brulee of the day», chocolate pot de crème(chocolate Brulee, right?), a fruity shortbread called berry jarbbler, served in mason jar, and our choice — the cinnamony bread pudding — thankfully sans raisins — which was delicious. The food is enough to draw us back to Long Beach — but we love this area, the beach, clamming, kite-flying and the nearby Cape Disappointment State Park. No wonder we want to retire here!

The best place in Long Beach, Wa to imbibe and watch the waves crash in the near distance. We did not eat but the drinks were strong and unique.

They are not consistent in what they charge for their drinks. Their happy hour is just snacks and a small selection of drinks which varies in price from day to day. One day it’s $ 6 dollars the next day it’s $ 9… They have a View…

I debated between 2 and 3 stars quite a bit. I ended up settling on 3 stars. It could have easily been a two star review. Went with friends who lived locally for dinner tonight. For a Tuesday night, it was quite packed. We had reservations for 8pm. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived. We were seated about 8:10. Our main courses did not arrive until 9pm, a bit slow for my tastes. Our server was very courteous and attentive. He was the ultimate reason I decided to up the review to 3 stars. Appetizer was something called dirty dirty fries. Which are beef fat fries with pork belly chunks, pepperoncinis, and goat cheese. These were okay. Others at the table enjoyed them more than I did. The fries themselves were well seasoned. The goat cheese was okay, but was just thrown on the dish in crude dollops, without much thought to it. The pork belly was extremely fatty, but had good flavor. Overall a 3 star appetizer. Nothing sensational. My main course was the steak frites. It’s a sliced steak with sauce and fries. The beef fat fries were clearly the star of the plate. The steak itself was cooked perfectly(medium rare), but completely unseasoned. It was a grass fed steak, and a bit light on flavor and not very juicy. The sauce had a weak flavor to it and needed some salt. I think it’s a sin to ask for steak sauce for a restaurant steak, but the thought did cross my mind. The steak was a disappointment. I didn’t finish it. It’s probably the third steak in my life I didn’t finish. Overall, great service from the server, slow kitchen staff, underwhelming food. Unlikely to come back.

Pros: great service, great location, excellent ambience. Unfortunately, those are the three things that can slide if the food is phenomenal, and our experience was not. We came here last year and the food was outstanding. We had dinner and then an excellent buffet breakfast. Eager to repeat the experience we dined here again and it was terrible. Our pizza was burnt and it was obvious the crust had been frozen before use. My steamer clams lacked any flavor– I didn’t know it was possible to make clams that bland. The dirty fries were decent, probably the best thing between the four of us. We were more than disappointed the following morning to discover the buffet breakfast had been replaced with a lackluster brunch. As with dinner most items were bland and flavorless. We asked for salt and pepper but the shakers are of poor design and nothing came out. A review in a sentence: the chef must be on a low sodium diet and feels like taking it out on everyone. Which is really saying something coming from me as I am always accused of under salting foods. Please please please either get shakers that work or learn to properly season food as it is cooked.

Hubby and I went to Long Beach to celebrate Christmas and during our weeklong stay we enjoyed several meals from Pickled Fish Restaurant. Below is a ranked list of the food items I tried: 1. Fennel sausage pizza: the blend of Parmesan, mozzarella and tomato sauce created one of the best pizza bases I’ve ever had. The mushrooms tasted freshly foraged. Delicious crispy salty crust. 2. Clam chowder: chunks of bacon, creamy salty broth, hint of cayenne. Perfection. 3. Roasted Brussels sprout Caesar: light yet filling. Fresh sprouts and apple slices. Tangy vinaigrette. 4. Oatmeal craisin cookie a la mode: baked fresh in a cast iron skillet topped with vanilla ice cream oozing into the cookie. Warm gooey bites. 5. Baked ham + cheese sandwich: two baguette slices topped with mornay sauce, cheese and ham. I could’ve drank that sauce straight up. So. Good. 6. Warm craisin white chocolate chip cookies that were in our breakfast basket. Key to its deliciousness was that they were served warm. They were fluffier than other scones I’ve had, and not overwhelmingly sweet. 7. Yogurt parfait: fresh yogurt + granola + strawberries. Simple and filling. Favorite part? All of the components were served in jars! I’m obsessed with jars. 8. Breakfast sandwich: brioche bun, crispy bacon, micro greens, egg, white cheddar cheese. Nothing notable. Guess I’m just spoiled by MatMuffins. 9. Macaroni and cheese: surprisingly didn’t enjoy this as much as I thought and I think it’s due to the overwhelming taste of rosemary in the dish. Very cheesy and I liked the spiral noodles versus traditional elbow. 10. Salmon with orzo and pesto: fish was flaky but didn’t have much flavor. The orzo was a bit sweet and not very fresh. Pesto sauce was a bit lacking in flavor. Though props to making micro greens taste good! 11. French toast: the French toast tasted a bit stale. I liked that it was very cinnamon sugary(think: Cinnamon Toast Crunch). I loved the homemade whipped cream and syrup. Would’ve liked some more raspberry sauce. We did a mix of onsite dining, room service and takeout. Dining there is lovely because there is a breathing ocean view from everywhere in the restaurant but we liked the other options for when we were lounging and didn’t want to get properly dressed. The service was always pleasant and we were lucky that the restaurant was so close to where we were staying — directly above our room when we stayed at Adrift and a short parking lot distance away when we stayed at the sister property, Inn at Discovery Coast. We can’t wait to go back!

My husband and I were really surprised and pleased with this restaurant! It was quite the find in the tiny town of Long Beach. The service was top notch, as were the cocktails and food. We tried the Charcuterie plate(meats, cheeses), the scotch eggs, the oysters Rockefeller, the dirty dirty fries. I would highly recommend any of them! The atmosphere was really cozy and modern. I’m sure the view would have been amazing, but it was winter and already dark when we were there. We’d be happy to go back if we ever visit again!

I enjoyed breakfast, but disappointed in the lack of veggie options. Maybe I was just jealous the didn’t offer a vegetarian gravy option with their biscuits and gravy — that’s probably it. My omelet was good, albeit overpriced. Yes, the view is spectacular, especially if you sit at the window bar — creatively placed hunks of wood with the windowsill perfectly placed to hold your drinks/condiments, etc. Staff wasn’t overly friendly, perhaps they were as hungover as I was. The prior evening we had stopped by hoping for a drink, walked all the way to the back only to be told they were closed. Apparently one of the servers(or a manager) was having a drink at the bar and said, «did you just come in?» «Yes, we replied» «Yeah, well we’re closed». The bar was packed, and looked like people were still ordering, but OK I get it, not letting more people in. I guess it was the way we were told. Not, «I’m sorry, we’re actually closed», but«yeah, well, we’re closed» It just didn’t set well overall. So when I begged my husband to try it for breakfast, I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised that we were greeted with a similar ambivalent attitude(from a completely different server). I’m not sure I’d go back — maybe for a drink when I couldn’t care less about friendly service?

The views alone would render a 5 star rating… But the food, the local sourcing of the food, décor, and staff really solidify that rating. Situated on the 4th floor of the hotel the restaurant overlooks street and ocean views… Street views = great people watching… Ocean views = Duh. We had a view of both… I took people watching and gave wave watching to my kiddo. Almost broke my neck a couple times trying to see what she was staring at. The ocean. The food was pretty awesome. I’m a fan of places that locally source what they are serving. House pickles and pickled eggs? YES please! Beef tallow fries? Yes, yes, yes! The burger was great… Perfectly seasoned and cooked to order. The server was awesome. Searched high and low for 100% juice for my kiddo… Major points when he came back with apple juice(although too sweet for her taste). The champagne shrub was delish… Tasted just like a kombucha cocktail I get in Tacoma!

Second visit. My first was in August 2014, and was one of the best meals Ive had. We’ve wanted to get back to Pickled Fish ever since. Finally made it back two weeks ago. Had the same table, same very personable server. Walked in and everyone was very friendly, so off to a good start. Ordered a Hemingway daquiri and a white russian to go with the mac and cheese and the special, which was blackened halibut. At that point I excused myself to the mens room. The mens room absolutely reeked of urine and only had a few hand towels left. I’d understand this more at the end of the night… but it was 5 pm! Not good. Returned to my table and the drinks were waiting. I took a quick swallow of the daquiri, noted it as pretty good, went to take another sip and it was gone! wth? Just a single enormous ice cube in the glass. Same story with the white russian. Mentioned the obvious short pour to the server and she replied that each drink had at least two ounces of alcohol in it. Ordered two cokes, they came out in the bottle and were cane sugar mexican cokes. Whatever. Entrees arrived. Last time, the mac and cheese was literally the best we’d ever had. This time, it was awful, literally the worst. Overpowering amount of some herb(rosemary?) and tasted like a gym locker smells. Why on earth was the previous recipe was abandoned it was fantastic last time? Halibut was a small cube($ 28) and severely overcooked, but I’ll take partial blame for that. I fish for(and cook a lot of) halibut and it is extremely easy to overcook. Not a type of fish that should be blackened, and I should’ve known better than to order it. Neither meal was good at all. We left nearly all of it and went up the street to another restaurant and had pasta. Super disappointed. Will go one more time but we’ll order beer instead, and if the food isnt better its off my list for good.

We had SUCH high hopes for this place. In fact, we chose to overlook lackluster reviews of the hotel just to easily access the restaurant. I was incredibly disappointed to be informed of an hour and 45 minute wait for a table for two last Sunday. I completely understand that things get busy, but was disheartened knowing that I specifically asked the front desk if I should call ahead, and they advised that that wasn’t a possibility. Come to find out there WAS a wait list and a quick walk from our room to the restaurant an hour or so earlier would have put us much closer to the top. There were highs and lows to the food. We were sat around 9PM and unfortunately the vegetarian entrée I had my eyes on was unavailable by then. We had the asparagus appetizer with an overcooked egg, but some tasty focaccia bread helped. I ordered the plain Mac and cheese. It was soupy and lacked flavor. My husband had the scallops– which he reported were quite tasty, but the polenta cakes they sat on had a strange texture, as if they were made well in advance and reheated. My rose’ tasted as if the bottle had been open quite a while, but my husband enjoyed his gin/absinthe cocktail. I decided not to post a review until we went to breakfast the next morning. I have to admit I didn’t sleep well, partly concerned about getting a table for breakfast! I was relieved to find a «seat yourself» sign and a low-key dining room the next morning. Our waitress was very attentive at first, but not so much as our meal carried on. The Bloody Mary and coffee with khalua were delicious. My husbands biscuits and gravy were super tasty– those biscuits are to die for! My tomato, mushroom, and Brie omelet lacked flavor– but I didn’t ask for salt or hot sauce, as our waitress seemed overwhelmed. It took a VERY long time to get our check, or even have our plates cleared away. My husbands half eaten meal, that sat in front of him for 20 minutes after he was done, was becoming more and more unappealing by the minute. There are some great bones to this place; awesome décor, kind staff, amazing view… But the little pieces that were not executed well contributed to us being uninterested in returning.

OUTSTANDING first dining experience! Pickled Fish was packed so the five of us sat at the bar. Great move on our part because we got Haley as both our bartender and wait person. Haley was awesome! She was like a cross between a ballet dancer and a conductor! She was fast, friendly and engaging! The food measured up to the same excellent level of Haley’s service. If you get anything, get the DIRTY, DIRTYFRIES. For those of you who have followed my dining experiences you know that my favorite food is pepperoni pizza. The Pickled Fish made me a PERFECT Pepperoni Pizza. The Pickled Fish kicks Ass and Balls! We love you Haley!

When wandering westward in Washington, warm up and wet your whistle at Pickled Fish where you’ll be wowed by wonderful eats. Stay at Adrift Hotel and let the weather, wind and waves wash away your weariness. —Okay I’m done with the W’s. You know when you’ve been to a place and it gets kind of romanticized in your memory? Then when you return, you’re disappointed? Well that didn’t happen. I fell in love with Adrift Hotel and it’s restaurant /bar, Pickled Fish a few years ago and now it’s totally my go to happy place. It’s just everything I need. On our latest visit I found they had gluten free fish & chips. I can’t even describe how happy that makes me. Add to this and in perfect combination I had for the first(of now many times) Fever Tree Ginger Beer. It was SO good, I begged the bar to sell me a couple of bottles to go. Now I’m super stoked to find this beverage at Donald’s Market in Vancouver East Village. So now every time I drink it I remember Adrift Hotel and Pickled Fish.

Stayed a weekend in Oysterville and drove down to Long Beach for a walk on the beach at sunset followed by a drink and appetizer at the bar of Pickled Fish. It’s a charming place perched at the top of a hip-looking hotel and decorated with recycled items — faucet handles for door knobs and anchor chains as shelf brackets for example. There was a singer/songwriter playing live music the night we were there and it made for nice ambiance. Not so loud that we couldn’t still have a conversation. My friend and I were tended by a lovely woman at the bar who makes hand crafted cocktails. The Pickled Fish has about a dozen unique drinks to choose from. It was hard to decide! We each picked one — I had a gin fizz type drink that was seriously the best cocktail I’ve ever had. We also got an order of calamari to share. It was fresh and tender. We had an absolutely perfect time.
