Sat immediately, but then server took at least 5 min. To approach us. We got there 30 before they closed, you think they would want to put in our order asap. Anyway, once we ordered and our food arrived it was soooo good! Salmon ceaser was great and the chicken avocado on sourdough was good too! Service was not great. Slow and not very friendly. But its close to home and yummy food, so I will be back.

Today was our first time eating here. The food was pretty good overall. The only small issue was the eggs being over cooked on my husband’s omelette. The portion sizes were generous and the coffee was good. What impressed us most was the manager encouraging and praising her staff while training them. That was impressive and rarely heard these days!

Stopped by for brunch on the way home from Tahoe. Kind of stumbled into it actually as the family suddenly declared they needed to eat and could not make it further. Glad we did. Very tasty food– props for the prime rib sandwich and eggs benedict. Very pleasant staff. Will try to make it a go-to place whenever we are in the area.

Awful experience, had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated. Then, another 30 minutes to order, then another 30 minutes until the food comes. My meat loaf was bland, no real flavor. Had to send back because mash potatoes were stone cold and a big chip out of the plate that could of been in my food. Waitress was friendly but did not look at food before she served it. Our grand daughter had s pancake and there was a black hair on the plate she has blonde hair. I do not want to keep going but I do not recommend this restaurant there are so many other good restaurants in the area…

By far one of my favorite places to go for breakfast. Being from Hawaii it came as a surprise to see the loco moco on the menu, so of course I had to try it and it’s become one of my favorites to get! Their chicken fried steak and french toast are also a favorite of mine. Definitely a great spot to check out!

It is hard to find a way to review my experience today. I am going to base it on the employer and the manager for the most part. The place was filthy. I am cool with loomis and the country feel and wanted to go to some good home style breakfast, but there is no excuse for filth and for being dirty. Crumbs on the fork set out for me. Nothing wiped down or taken care of. The wait, over 30 min. Not because it was full. Nope, empty tables all around. It was because there was only 1 server on and working. When the kitchen staff have to come out to refill drinks. Not good. The only two stars I am giving is because the waitress was amazing and working so hard. The food was also okay. I wonder what it would have been like had I come in to a clean place and been seated timely and not been so frustrated for this poor girl. A manager did show up, or I think it was a manager, but all she did was bark orders at this already busy server. It was not okay. In the end, I hope the server gets a job at a place that appreciates her better and I hope the ugly mug gets a cleaner and a new manager.

Excellent crab cake benedict! The crab cakes and poached eggs were perfectly prepared and the sun dried tomatoes were a nice touch. I added spinach as that’s a personal preference. The home fries were delicious as well! They serve Santa Cruz coffee which I love. I highly recommend this little gem!

Waffling on the rating … solid 3 and probably an easy 3.5 stars. Quaint café along Taylor Road in Loomis just at the edge of the old town main-drag. Tiny little bar on the left as you enter in case you need a beer or glass of wine before 2:00pm. Open for breakfast/brunch/lunch only. Somewhat country café style décor. We ‘scrambled’ in here for lunch about a half hour before close — apparently we were«those» customers today. The staff made sure that we were not late comers and allowed us to be comfortable and not rushed. Staff was very friendly, service was great, and the place looked pretty clean when near the end of the serving day. Plenty of breakfast and lunch options on the menu; no need to write here and list breakfast and lunch foods. Today’s lunch for two: * Patty Melt on Marble Rye * Potato Boat The Potato Boat is county potatoes topped with cooked vege’s, cheese, salsa, and sour cream. Eat it with a fork or load up a corn or flour tortilla and eat with your hands. Both pretty good size lunch portions and filling. Food was good. In that breakfast is my favorite, but least eaten, meal, I will need to revisit and have breakfast. I ordered a coffee at 1:30pm just to use an ugly mug(just like at Mom’s). If you want to know about the ugly mugs, visit the Ugly Mug and find out.

Always a great place for breakfast and lunch. The pancakes are very very good. They are made from scratch there. Eggs are done perfect and the service has gotten better.

Food is always good. Takes forever to seated on the weekends. Service seems to seat people they know before new customers. But if it’s a slow day it worth the stop.

I wanted to like this place, but after waiting 40 minutes for my food which was mediocre at best, I will not be back. I have to echo the other reviews which state that the service is just poor.

2.5. Cute little homey place. Service was a little slow and lax. The young servers were more interested in bantering with each other than pleasing their customers. They did come through on a few occasions though(I saw a male server bring a bowl of water for a dog outside. Nice considering it’s 100 degrees today!). Ordered the Del Oro Omelette– large, tasty w/fresh veggies and the pesto sauce was good. The homestyle fries were pretty tasty too. Toast was burnt though. Kids ordered the kids pancake. 1 pancake, 1 egg, 1 piece bacon/sausage = $ 6.50 Neither child ate their pancake, despite the syrup they slathered on. –1 star for having ‘fake’ maple syrup. Even my kids can tell the difference. My daughter said the pancakes were ‘sour.’ I tasted it, and actually really liked it. They are not the fluffy style pancakes, but a thin, sour dough pancake, which I actually really like. Negative for the kids though. So there goes $ 12 down the drain. Or more laps that I need to do for eating their leftover pancakes. Baby girl is allergic to everything. Asked for a plain bowl of oatmeal with a banana. A huge bowl came out, $ 8. I have a tough time swallowing a $ 40 breakfast meal for 2 kids, a toddler and 1 adult. Suggestions if the owner actually reads this: offer a children’s pancake that isn’t sourdough, or warn parents that your kid might not like it(and my kids have a decent ‘foodie’ palette, but didn’t like these). Offer a smaller size bowl of oatmeal for a reasonable price, not $ 8 for oatmeal that I can make at home. Nothing terrible, but nothing amazing either. Still like Orphan’s breakfast in Sac, though it’s a bit far. Might go back w/the hubs or adult friends or just feed the kids at home before we come! :)

Not much to say, but I will continue to eat my breakfast here once a month. The coffee flows, the eggs are good and the menu is appealing for everyone in the family. I’m a fan of the French toast and the omelletts. Out door seating could use an upgrade, as the benches are a little low quality in comparison to the rest of the restaurant. But, service is great, and food is on point. Keep it up Ugly Mug!

Food was delicious. Split the cross fit Benedict and meat lovers scramble. Both were more than enough portion wise! The only negative thing I can say, the reason I only am giving 3 stars, is 1.) the scramble only came with 1 small piece of toast and it took forever to get someone to bring us jam. However when we did get it, it was very good and I believe home made. 2.) after finishing our meal and boxing up all the left overs we sat there for approximately 30 mins just waiting for someone to bring us a check. I could have understood this if it were busy, there were only 3 other tables besides ours… Great food. Service experience not so good.

The is a quaint little that has about 15 tables in it. It has a nice little country feel to it. There is something about coming to a mom and pop place over a corporate restaurant that’s what you would think right? Not with this place, he pork chop was greasy and tough, the cook screwed up on the eggs over medium, the whites were runny and after the third time of sending them back we just gave up. I will say this though, I have been here 3 times and I have always had to wait a long time for my food. As I write this I have already waited over 30 minutes and no one has checked on me or tell me what’s going on. Today the service was absolutely HORRIBLE! The waitress came to my table with a coffee pot and water pitcher, my empty water cup was sitting at the edge of the table and she didn’t even fill it up. I hate paying for a bad meal and now I have just wasted 32.34!

The Ugly Mug is a quaint little café in old town Loomis. This was my first visit and it was a packed house with folks waiting both in and outside for a table. Folks out in the cold were provided with complimentary hot coffee. Lot’s of options on the breakfast menu but I went with a traditional meal of sausage, eggs, potatoes and biscuit with gravy. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the potatoes were savory and tender and the house made sausage patty was just the way I like it… a little crunchy on the outside and tender and tasty inside. The biscuit was flaky and the white gravy seasoned just right with savory chunks and crumbles of sausage mixed in. The service was also quite good. The server was friendly, helpful when ordering and kept me updated with the status of my order. When he needed to take a break, he waited to confirm the food was delivered and then updated on which server would wrap-up the service. The other server was also friendly and prompt. Overall, this establishment delivered on every aspect of a great dining experience: Great food, courteous and helpful servers, prompt food prep(especially considering how packed it was) and reasonable prices. I’ll definitely be back!

It makes me really angry to eat bad food and The Ugly Mug Café made me angry. We were in town for the day and we came here for breakfast because with 4 stars it was the highest rated place I could find on Unilocal. The food took a while to come out although there weren’t that many customers and what came out was not worth the wait. I got the $ 10 «Godfather Spicy Chicken Breakfast Burrito» with eggs, chicken, jalapenos, caramelized onions, and cheese. I undid my entire burrito and there was not a single jalapeño to be found. I had to ask for some on the side. The chicken had no seasoning on it whatsoever, no salt or pepper or any spices. Just cubes of bland chicken. The onions were maybe mildly sweated at best but«caramelized»? Hahaha. See my pic! The burrito definitely didn’t skimp on the cheese but it was cheap, waxy cheese and there was so much of it oozing throughout the innards that it was glued together into one big lump. As for the side of fruit, I had bitten into my piece of watermelon and was just about to remark that at least the fruit was good when I noticed the hair on it. Ahhh! Skip the Ugly Mug and head over to Flower Farm Café instead!

We finally got to try this place after we visited Rocklin Merecedes, since we don’t get up to this part of town I was eager to check this place out. We got here a little bit after 1pm on New Years Day and after we were seated I heard the servers telling other people that they actually closed at 1pm so Kudo’s to the staff for allowing us to eat there even though it was probably about 1:20p when we got there. My wife ordered the Crab Cake Benedict which was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. The benedict came with hash browns as well. My daughter ordered some sort of breakfast trio with eggs, bacon and pancakes. The pancakes were not the typical fluffy type, they reminded me of German potato pancakes in look and texture, but they were quite delish. I ordered a burger with bacon, mushrooms, chile pepper, and cheese. The burger was cooked well, big, juicy and flavorful. My side dish of Potato salad was inedible as the potatoes were overcooked and actually tasted like they were leftover baked potatoes. Overall we liked the laid back atmosphere of this eatery. The young staff seemed friendlier just because they wear pajamas as their uniforms and it is entertaining to see what ugly mug you get at your table :) The food was good and the pricing is fair, if you want some comfort food in Rocklin this is good place to check out.
