Around 10:30am 1÷13÷15. Food is good clean serving is friendly but looked like friends of owner sitting like a gangsters in the restaurant kept telling insulting words to servant a little loudly,

This is one of those extremely rare cases where getting a wrong order still garnered a 5 star review! Via Eat24, I ordered ramen with dumplings but they gave me tteokguk with mandoo instead. Being that it’s New Years and all I should have ordered this anyway(don’t know what I was thinking). I thought it was kinda funny like, they could’ve just read my order and was like nope you’re getting New Years soup fool. Good try. Haha. Anyway it came out really good. FYI: It is really salty, but that’s the way I like it. Now the real significance. So when you order through Eat24, you get a confirmation email with a timer that tracks your order by the second. Confirmed delivery time was 45 minutes. I was really hungry so I looked up the tracker AND I KIDYOUNOT, ON45:00MINUTESEXACTLY, I GOT A KNOCKONMYDOOR! What??? I live in a high rise apartment that doesn’t make parking easy and they delivered on the EXACTSECOND?! Impossible! In conclusion, totally happy with my missed order, but more so, the timely delivery experience.

Food is solid, especially considering the 24hr deliveries. I like the Dak Gom Tang. Delivery is prompt.

Can I give 0 star to this shit? The delivery service ain’t shit. I ordered a short rib and a ramen. I called them and they said its gonna take 30mins. After 30mins they said all they need is 5mins. And after 70mins that I ordered my food I called them. They said they still need 15mins. I fucking live 2blocks away!!!

I used to order delivery from them. But once delivery guy didn’t show up. It was already charged on my card so I asked redelivery but delivery guy called me and he said didn’t want to come again. He told me he called me when he arrived but I didn’t answer so he left without coming to my door. Delivery should come to the door! Fortunately, I ordered from Eat24 app and they refunded my money. I give them 2 stars because One of the delivery guys were nice and food is good.

Grandma’s house might not be the cleanest or best tasting but it’s always open! The difference between Grandma’s and Mom’s house two doors down is a liquor license. Mom’s caters to a rowdier clientele so go to Grandma’s if you prefer to eat in peace.

Food is decent; but super convenient! Open 24⁄7 and perfect for cheap korean food with variety if you’re not feeling the usual late night bcd run.

Don’t order their Ramen. It’s $ 1 ramen for $ 7. Looks nothing like the picture either. I thought it would be a Korean style kimchi base but it’s literally just the Asian spicey ramen package that you buy at super markets for a buck. I really hope they improve their Ramen.

We order from Halmae Jip at least once a week. Food listed below are pretty good. — Kimchi Chigae — Dak Dori Tang(2 meals) — Eundaegu Jorim(2 meals) — Duk Mandoo Guk — Daeng Jang Chi Gae — Ohjinguh Bokum(2 meals) Their banchan is decent, nothing special. Delivery is fast but they refuse to come up to our apartment because there is «no parking.» They demand us to come down and open the front door.

beware, beware, beware!!! terrible delivery service!!! not worthy!!! incompetent and thieves!!! maniac guy!!! don’t order delivery!!! if you need food in the dawning, call the crispy pork gang!!! i wish i could give 0 star to this shit!!! why keeping a 24 hours delivery service if you can’t do it??? i asked my total, the lady(who can’t speak english at all) told me 21. the delivery guy is nuts, called my cel phone asking me to come out while i asked him to dial de intercom. ten minutes later, he called again to ask for my address(so, wonder, if i did that stupid shit, i would be 10 minutes in the street waiting for him in the freezing cold, cuz the stupid asshole was insisting for me to go outside, while there’s an intercom, and that’s called delivery, it must be delivered at your door!!!) i never saw such a thing, everybody gets in, but the crazy man kept insisting and insisting for me to go outside!!! o. o after i had to yell to explain the obvious, that i wouldn’t come out 5h30 am in the freezing weather, cuz i had asthma, i’m a lady, i pay for rent which includes the intercom, i was paying for delivery — things that you’d explain for a very very retarded crackhead, the guy finally decided to do his job and dial the fucking intercom. he came all mad and charged me 28, looking at me as a crazy man. i had no option, but paying, i don’t know what that psychotic could do to me!!! total nightmare delivery! useless calling the restaurant back to complain — the lady doesn’t get a word in english!!! and they charge me for a coke can they didn’t delivered either!!! can’t be even worse!!! (i don’t know why my review is displayed all in low case letters)

The food is really great! They only serve kimchi, radish kimchi and boiled cabbage with daen jang BUT it’s so good! It was so great, I asked if they sold their ban chan. The food overall is really delicious. You have to try the spicy galbi jeem. It was so delicious! The galbi was tender and filled with favor and I loved that they put dduk in it too! It was really spicy though!!! We started with the gamja tang and it was very good but then the galbi jeem came out and it’s so spicy and delicious you can’t eat anything else! I would definitely come back for the galbi jeem but the service was not all great. The lady kept messing up our order. We heard her put the ticket in and my mom spoke out and told her that was not it. Then she proceeded to yell out«they changed their mind they want the galbi jeem». Um, excuse you lady we didn’t change our mind. That’s why we came! You put the order in wrong own up to it! Then we ordered a to go order and she took the wrong order again! I even saw her get a bill to a man and he said that’s not what I ordered but she was charging him for it. It wasn’t that busy but perhaps it was an overwhelming day for her. At the end of the meal we left happy and full which is the most important thing.

The Sulungtang was OK. Which comes with rice and kimchi all for $ 3.99. You can’t beat that! It’s a nice small spot. Perfect if you want to eat alone.

WARNING: Don’t waste your money on delivery here. The food is really really really bad. Mark my words. I’ve dined here several times before. This was when I was younger and didn’t have much money to spend on better dishes that costed around $ 10. This place is known for their cheap Sulungtang(Ox Bone Soup) which will cost you $ 3.99 plus tax. I had the crave for some Korean food so I decided to check my Eat24 app to see what restaurants were available for late night delivery. I saw Halmae on the list so I decided to to go with it. What I ordered: Kimchi fried rice and Soondae Gook(Korean blood sausage soup). Both dishes were BAD! The problem that I had with kimchi fried rice was the chunks of kimchi and sausages that were in the dish. They didn’t even take time to cut it up into small pieces. They just threw chunks of kimchi and sausages into the fried rice. And also, the kimchi fried rice was overly greasy compared to other places I’ve tried. The problem that I had with soondae gook was just about everything. This soup tasted like plain water. I even stirred it up to see if it would taste better. I was very disappointed because I was actually looking forward to some hot soup. Both dishes were very disappointing. Hands down the worst Korean food I ever tried in Koreatown. My advice is to stay away from this place and spend few more dollars for quality foods around Ktown.

Home cooked kind of korean food vibe. Cheap prices that get me coming back. A good variety of side dishes. I wouldn’t say its the best food out there but once again for the price I’m paying, I can’t complain.

My favorite is the $ 7 seafood tofu soup(soon dobu). I get it to go usually, because I live 5 min walking distance away. It’s not always exactly the same, because it’s an authentic mom and pop place, but it’s always really good! Pretty much on par or BETTER than my favorite spots, Cho Dang in Cerritos and BCD. Super soft tofu, and amazing broth! The lady is really nice there. They deliver too!!!

Whenever it’s cold and I’m hungry late night, I come here for sullungtang(Ox bone soup), which payed about $ 4 for. I like this place for the following reasons: 1) Very Cheap! It’s definitely the one of the cheapest if not THE Cheapest Korean food in Ktown. 3) Open late

My first impression was, «You’re asking for home cooked when the place(translated) is called grandma’s house.» This is a restaurant that has survived among the many, many, endless choices for food in Koreatown. I don’t know what factors into the survival of a restaurant in Koreatown but I figure these qualities are just some of the reasons why Halmae Restaurant has been solid on K-town grounds: *VARIETY. As soon as you walk in the menu is on the wall. On their regular menu are some traditional Korean dishes(besides Korean BBQ for those who think that’s all there is to Korean food). Also, they have additional items handwritten on the wall on pieces of paper. Thumbs up for the variety of options. *CHEAP eats(in terms of Korean food). It’s a known fact that Korean food doesn’t always come cheap. It’s justifiable because Korean food isn’t fast food, no matter how fast food you try to make it. But Halmae is one of those places where you get one heck of a deal for Korean food. Half the price on the same dishes at other Korean food places, yet the best part is that the food is still delicious. *24HOURS. I can have hearty home cooked Korean food instead of Denny’s in the middle of the night? Enough said. *GRANDMA actually cooks the food. A Korean person actually cooks your Korean food in the kitchen at the Korean restaurant if you know what I mean. The banchan is a little lacking, but nonetheless the meal is complete enough with the stews and soups as your main entrée. They have great combination orders of soup and meat(grilled fish, bbq, marinated meat, etc) that are totally worth it. This review makes it to 5 of my lists(below), that’s pretty legit. The lasting impression? «Great option if you want to hit your tummy with grandma’s cooking early morning or late night.»
