I would have never thought I’d find an adorable hole in the wall coffee shop in this area! I appreciate their support for non profit. Love the details inside the store. It is pretty small and can get packed but I appreciate that they have almond milk. Oh there’s this secret menu drink called Juan, two, three. You can thank me later

Exceptional! I ordered the Café de Ólla. It was slightly too bitter for my liking, but don’t let that discourage you. I’m a sucker for sweatness, which is why the Chai Latte with almond milk was absolutely out of this world. The price is right, too! The best word to describe Holy Grounds is *delightful*. Everything, from the front doors to the back patio, just oozes homey and comfortable. I honestly didn’t want to leave. If the weather permits, don’t miss out on the back patio mentioned above. I had some serious courtyard envy. Please don’t miss out on this local gem!

This place is a hidden gem! It’s off the usual path for most Angelenos, I mean I found it by getting lost while searching for a shoe repair spot. But it’s worth the trek. The staff is sweet. They have an array of teas. Coffee is delish. The owner and his dog seem great. And the best part, the huge eclectic décor patio. There’s a stage for events(yoga, musical guests, etc.) A fire place, candles you can light at night and just a bunch of cute two-seaters or couches for you to hang out. There’s also a bible study that just started there for Rise LA church happening every Sunday at 4pm if you’re into that.

Stumbled upon this cute little coffee shop while waiting for my car wash. Before entering the coffee shop the store has a book shelf outside by the entrance for people too read, keep, or donate! I thought that was pretty awesome! I ordered the hot chocolate(3.50 for a large.) The barista gives you a choice of either ghiradelli or Mexican hot chocolate. I went with the ghiradelli hot chocolate and it was amazing! The outside patio is fairly big! I really like the décor and ambiance here, very hipster! They even have a fire place going on for the cold winter nights. During the time I was here(around noon on a Monday), there was a guitarist playing on stage! They also hold open mic with music, poetry, and comedy! Will definitely be back again!

Great café de Ólla, Mexican hot chocolate too. When we come to the café we usually like to sit outside, it’s relaxing & pretty. The weekender is delicious, an everything bagel with cream cheese, tomatoes salt & pepper… really good. Can’t wait to try other things

My son & I love this place. They’re always so friendly and everything that I’ve ordered has tasted good. Seating outside is the best. There’s always people studying, but it’s not too quiet. I get to relax and read and enjoy the fresh air. Best coffee shop, for sure.

Folks, This place beats Starcrux any day. What I can’t believe is that in Los Angeles, more places do not offer Café de Olla. Thank Goodness for Holy Grounds… I feel connected to my homeland and culture with just a sip of coffee! As I am always in rush, I have yet to enjoy the lovely patio garden and fountain in the back or sign up for a culturally rich class in how to make the alters for loved ones past for Day of the Dead. One day I will!

Holy YES! The Hidden Gem of El Sereno This place is ammmmaaazeballs! First off let’s start with the staff. Very friendly, home type of feeling as soon as you walk in ! The staff here are amazingly sweet and awesome. The young barista don’t remember her name(but she had glasses on) recommended the café de olla and Oh my god! It reminds me of my grandmothers café back in Mexico! It’s delicious and one of the must tries if stopping by holy grounds. Another thing their HomeBoy coffee cake is Oh my god… Reminds me of the coffee bread back in elementary that really good one that is so hard to find now a days. Yepp nothing but reminiscing at this place ! It’s 2 for 5 on Tuesday and believe I took some to go! Next the atmosphere it’s such a cozy chic place they have adorable décor amazing artwork a Frida Kahlo tribute I would say !!! They have a wall with her pictures and through out the shop fun facts about her … Oh and a couch(which I took over the whole time I was there!) it’s peaceful and quiet just a bunch of people studying or doing research! I was here applying for jobs and I felt so relaxed and just felt like home! we were here long enough to need a refill which do u save ur cup is only $ 1 yes!!! All in all it was a great experience I’ll be back here soon like tommorow…

Mentally check off list if applicable: 1) Need a quiet place with a fountain in the foreground or background to study? 2) Like skeleton decorations and feel like celebrating Día de Muertos year round? 3) Love seeing nature? 4) Love baristas that know their coffee? 5) Having a chance to see Winslow, the tabby? 6) Seeing a stage with two life size skeletons decorated with clothes? 7) Seeing a bird cage with some birds? 8) Love playing board games while relaxing? 9) Love coffee, pastries, and tea? If you mentally check all 9, this place is for you! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Service: Paulina and Marlin(baristas) were very friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about their products, and gave delightful recommendations. Drink of choice: I loved their Horchatta Latte(secret menu item). I requested Paulina to pull half a shot instead of 1 shot of expresso and to make my drink half sweet. It was slightly off, but she adjusted it to my liking on the second try. Very good! Pastry of choice: Cajeta cheesecake. Very Yum and was surprized of the size of the pastry for the price. If you like cheesecake and caramel, this pastry is for you! –Tip: I find it enjoyable by biting alternating sides(one side with caramel and the other side with cheesecake) of the pastry. You’ll have a mesh of caramel and cheesecake taste with every bite. Would love to come back to the holy grounds.

Got to try out their $ 3.50 guava cheesecake — just as delicious as the cajeta cheesecake. I’m not a big fan of guava, but I dig this — totally recommend!!! I also tried their secret menu drink — Iced Horchata Latte made with espresso, steamed milk and Horchata. It’s a tad sweet, but awakening and a great treat to try out besides your regular coffee norm. Also, their cajeta cheesecake is also $ 3.50. Their website listed as $ 3.00, but since they now carry Homeboy bakery and not Aguila bakery brand, updated price.

Holy Grounds is one of those art/coffee houses mainly displaying artwork influenced by Mexican folklore, but the garden drew the most attention for me. Equipped with a water fountain and shaded by trees adorned with hanging ornaments, makes this outdoor area a tranquil place to enjoy coffee or tea. The coffee comes from Antigua Coffee, which is an LA based roaster, and they carry loose leaf teas. Their pastries are also made locally. So support of local small businesses is in full effect at this coffee shop. I dropped in for some tea following an afternoon hike nearby, therefore I can’t comment on the coffee, but it was a little lackluster for me. The staff was great though, you can tell they work hard to please their guests and they were cheerful while doing it.
