Clean and great customer service but no parking, I had to park my car in the street, but no complaints I will come back again

Great little place for some solid food that doesn’t break the bank. Found this place wandering around and wasn’t disappointed. Pro: Great tasting chicken. Tried the classic fried and sweet and spicy. Both were good — not overly breaded, freshly made and nicely presented. Service was friendly and like the fact they only charged $ 1 for a can of soda which beats those sneaky places that charge you $ 3.75 for unlimited drinks and you are left wondering how the bill suddenly crept up on you. Con: None really. Friendly people — good server. Did the food take awhile to be ready? Yes, I kinda started wondering — but once it was delivered it sure didn’t matter. Food was clearly freshly prepared, so I can appreciate it taking a little time.

This place is pretty good. I’d recommend ordering in person, otherwise they may mess yours up… even after verifying it twice, just saying. Food wise though, their chicken is good. The crispy skin on the glazed wings and breaded legs was, as people say, on point. The garlic wings weren’t huge, but truly tasted of savory light garlic, and the hot wings were slightly hot, and slightly over breaded. I might go here again to try more flavors regardless of the complaints, but as far as the good K.F.C. goes,(Korean fried chicken), this is mid tier.

I had a big craving for korean fried chicken and this place hit the spot. Additional points for their honey fried rice cakes with fried chicken dish too. I have been here once, dined in late at night before closing and have zero complaints and a happy tummy. Took a box of left overs home so portion sizing was good for me too. I plan on visiting again the next time I get a craving… :)

lol i knew going back was the wrong choice, i went there because my kid wanted to eat there chicken since he has never tried it before. my my, have the place not changed, same olé irritated owner, same olé irritated workers, and the same nasty food that taste like its been fried in recycled oil. service was horrible like i remember, took over 40 min for our food to come out. i had fresh fried chicken at other korean spots and it does not take 40 min. i asked for some sauce and first thing was«theres a charge for it». ok, how do you k ow i wasnt going to pay for it? you automatically assumed i would get mad and give me attitude. soda is not real coca cola, ita the fake syrup stuff and them playing it as coke. we left most of the food and walked out. i am not paying 30+ for chicken and get half assed service and crappy old food. hk market chicken is the best!!!

I order from this place twice but will never again. The most recent time I ordered, I ordered one of the salads. If you place your order online, the menu says that the salad comes with chicken, which is why I ordered it. Once I received my order, I realized it lacked chicken. No big deal. I called the restaurant to see what was up. When I called, the employee said they couldn’t understand me, as there was a language barrier, and the manager would call me back. Once the manager called, i told him that the salad didn’t come with chicken and that was my sole reason for ordering. He basically said, «Oh no, it doesnt come with chicken.» I explained that the menu said otherwise and he responded, «Oh ok. I’ll take a look. Bye bye.» I felt as though this was horrible customer service. He could have apologized for their mistake or anything. Instead he said the menu was wrong and bye. That is unacceptable. Any remedy would have done but to do nothing, ridiculous. Needless to say, I wont order from here anymore.

This place needs more love. I come here maybe once a week to have some chicken with friends. They don’t have their beer and wine license so you need to BYOB but there’s a 7 – 11 down the street next to Castle BBQ. Other than that, I love their crispy+spicy chicken. It’s not spicy per se but it adds a bit of smokey complexity to the batter. Their sides are decent although I’ve only tried their honey rice cakes and their onion rings. Their green cilantro sauce is amazing and I’m not a fan of cilantro! Service is on point every time I go so I don’t know what everyone else is talking about

Although Kokio Chicken’s flavors are on point, their quality and service are subpar. I ordered the garlic wings for takeout and was able to pick it up in 15 minutes. However, they only gave me salad dressing on the side and forgot the salad itself lol. The wings were garlicky and flavorful which I loved, but some of the wings were puny and dry while others were plump and tender. I was also extremely thirsty after I had them, which leads me to question whether or not they put MSG into their food. I don’t think I’ll be back, since there are way better korean fried chicken choices in Ktown(I’m looking at you OB Bear!)

I was actually fighting myself to give this place a lower rating, but the food eventually salvaged themselves from my impatience. All the food was standard basing myself on other korean wings places I’ve been to. They had daikon in a bowl, salad, and really good wings. The problem was that it was around 3:15pm and no one was in the restaurant and we got our food at 4:07pm. That’s a lot of time just waiting around for food. They didn’t even assume anything about the time either. They did not say sorry for the wait like other restaurants that care for their customers. Customer service was horrible to add on to the wait. We felt like we were trying to yank their arm for a refill. I slightly yelled to get the waiter’s attention. The waiter had no intention to look at other tables and just get the orders from other and go back real fast. Other than the bad service, we did eventually get our fries and wings, and it was pretty good. In other standards, I would usually give the quality of food a 4 star, but getting me to wait and become«Hangry» shoots down a couple stars. We got the garlic wings, original crispy drumsticks, and grilled chicken with waffle fries and couple steamed rice. We got one of everything. Overall the fried chicken is solid. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. If it wasn’t for service I would go here again, but then again, there are too much other options that was weigh this option out. One thing I did find odd was that they did not have Soy Garlic wings, which is a staple from many korean wings places, like kyochon and bonchon. Despite the missing flavor, the Garlic wings were good and very garlicly. It just would have been nice.

Got the original chicken that came with the cilantro sauce – definitely tastes better than the korean fried chicken that they sell at the Hang Gook Market … came with the white cubed marinated sweet and sour radishes that they usually have with the fried chicken but this eatery gave a free sliced cabbage salad as well. The taste of the spicy fried chicken was not as good as the one they have at Kyochon but it was OK. Maybe if they made the spicy have more of a kick or provided extra hot sauce on the side I would have been more happy. The grilled chicken sandwich was a good staple to have if you want to avoid being filled up with all fried food: D

I freaking love Korean fried chicken but I still don’t quite know where the best joint for it is so if you do, please shoot me a message and enlighten me. Stopped by for dinner with my brother-in-law and this place is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. I would guess maybe about 104-person tables so if you have a huge party, you might just want to go to a bar or something. We ordered the half original crispy chicken & half sweet & spicy chicken and an order of the waffle fries & the honey rice cake & chicken. Even though the menu doesn’t indicate it, it seems like you can order the original crispy chicken boneless as well. Personally, I think eating boned chicken is too much of a hassle so I prefer eating boneless. If you’re a wing/dark meat fan, don’t worry: I can feel you glaring at me with anger through the screen. The chicken was okay, not stellar, not bad. It definitely did the job. My brother-in-law and I agreed that this place seems to do sides better because the waffle fries were perfectly hot & crispy and the honey rice cake was also an excellent combination of sweet and crispy. We were really sad to learn that Kokio doesn’t sell beer but we saw two other girls walk in, walk out, and return with a 6-pack and the owner gladly gave them a bottle opener so that’s my plan the next time I stop by. Something that threw me off was that the servers were actually not that great at Korean. It’s obviously not even a deal but I just thought that was a new experience in K-Town.

Yum! I love me some korean fried chicken and Kokio really delivered! I’m a fan of KyoChon but I did love how many options Kokio had to offer! Lots of flavor options for the wings, they also have combos, fried chicken, salads and sandwiches. My friend and I came here on a Friday night around 7pm. FOOD: — extra spicy wings — these were spicy! Loved it, the sauce itself had hints of honey, which was nice, but as much as I love spicy, it was too hard to eat two of these wings in a row haha — spicy wings(no sauce) — loved these as well! Nice and crispy and also spicy! Both the wings were juicy inside and had a lot of meat on the bones, yum! — waffle fries — crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. They also give you unlimited salad refills! Yum! Helps to cut the heat from the wings and to make you feel like you’re being slightly healthy lol SERVICE: Friendly enough. If you want to eat in, seat yourself and they’ll come over with a menu. You can also order to go directly from the order counter. PARKING/VENUE: We got a free street spot right outside the restaurant, but I think there’s a parking lot in the back. The place is smallish and wasn’t crowded at all when we went, and the bathrooms are all the way down the hall and super dark! Would come back!

TL;DR — just go to KFC… I love supporting mom and pop shops… but not when the places are rude and unwelcoming. We came here for dinner at 10:05 and were turned away for dine in… when they say they close at 11… whatever. We order to-go and get some wicked bad stink eye from the korean lady.(Seriously… never had good service from korean eateries… and its not like we don’t order anything either.) We got a half order or original chicken, waffle fries, a combo plate and extra rice. 10 minutes late, we are told there is no more rice. Really… at 10pm. An hour before closing? The chicken was ok. But really reminded me of bon chon and kyo chon. Nothing really too special. I guess LA lacks those places so this place will have to suffice for Angelenos craving some chicken. But yeah. No. For the price, not worth the attitude. We didn’t fight about no dine in, or no rice, or whatever… But we still received s*** attitude.

Love the chicken but service was very slow and inattentive. Thanks to fellow Unilocalers, I found this yummy korean fried chicken place in the heart of Koreatown. We had the half and half, a whole chicken with original crispy and the choice of one flavor, sweet and spicy chicken($ 18.50). I just recently tried the honey rice cake and chicken($ 7.50). For only $ 26, this fed three girls with a lot of leftovers. Also, show them you checked in with Unilocal for two free drinks. Chicken was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The original crispy had the right amount of crunch and seasoning. The sweet and spicy was sweet, but wasn’t spicy at all. Chicken overall was moist and juicy and eat it with their green sauce which was a tiny bit spicy and cilantro flavored. The rice cake was interesting and good, but it was a bit chewy for my liking. Your order also comes with salad that was good and some pickled vegetable sides that I didn’t really like. Service was descent the first time around but food took excruciating long to come out. There were only two other parties in the restaurant, but it took what seemed like at least 30 – 40 minutes for our chicken to come out. The second time around at noon time, we were the only party dining in and the woman was not attentive at all. This time it only took about 15 minutes for our order, but we had to constantly wave her over to ask for refills on salad and drinks, boxes for leftovers, and the check. We saw a lot of customers order to go and even a party that ordered over the phone, but then dined in.(They were probably regulars that knew of the long wait.) Parking is either metered on the street or they also have a back entrance with some parking if you can find how to get back there, I didn’t. I parked around the corner on Oakwood for one hour free if you walk a little further. Don’t park in the laundry mat parking because a Korean man will come out and scold you and tow your car.

I’m telling you that Koreans know their fried chicken! Especially here at Kokio. They really know how to batter and fry their chickens. The Original was crunchy and very juicy. Waffle fries were yummy as well. The portions are big and everything is fried, so it is recommended that you share. I would come here more often, but my health conscience won’t allow me. :(I’ll have to wait for another cheat day.

Heard many good things about this place from friends on FB and I’m always on the look out for good Korean fried chicken. I Unilocaled and their rating was good too so I decided to come and try. It’s awkwardly located on Western right across street from OMC and KFC next to Wassada Sashimi place. Walked in and we were greeted and sat at the table of our choice. We ordered half&half which is just a half order of Sweet&Spicy chicken/Fried chicken. We were given a cabbage salad which looked really fresh but it had a little too much of dressing to my taste. Sweet&Spicy Chicken_This is definitely not the best Korean style chicken. In fact, their sauce is very different. I want to say it is way too strong and overpowering that I couldnt really taste the actual chicken meat itself. The sauce has no garlic-y flavor at all and its just not good — perhaps, different. It is absolutely not the flavor I was seeking. Fried Chicken_This was pretty good. The fried batter was considered pretty light and thin and the meat inside was very tender and moist. But when I took a bite, I sort of felt the oil/grease squeezing out of the chicken skin which was not a plesant feeling. Nonetheless, fried chicken was good but it was not as good as the ones I had from Koko Chicken in Buena Park/Fullerton. Service was OK. I had to get the server’s attention every time I needed something. I wish they would check up on us more frequently. Their restroom is pretty ghetto. I do not want to go in there. My boyfriend went to the restroom and he was shaking his head. He said he would not want to go in there ever again. No wonder, they dont sell any alcohols here. So no chicken & beer. So if you MUST eat chicken with beer then this place is NOT the right place for you. Parking is valet only or street parking if you manage to find one right in front of the store. Valet guy is very nice and he is very quick.

The fried chicken here is so, so, so good. Go. Go, and get it! I came here with a friend on a Friday for lunch. When we entered the lone waitress politely greeted, and seated us. We were the only customers seated in the restaurant throughout our meal, although a few people came in to pick up take-out. After perusing the menu we decided to get the half and half, which came with half original fried chicken, and half drizzled in our choice of sauce, we opted for the sweet and spicy, and a salad(which was more like cole-slaw with a smattering of dressing). We also ordered 2 sides of steamed rice, and 2 green teas. The chicken took a while to get to us(because it was being freshly prepared). When it arrived it was crispy and only mildly greasy. And the sweet and spicy sauce was so delicious that if there had been a ramekin of it I would have drank it. One drawback, if there has to be one, was that the green tea was tea bags, and I was expecting a little teapot filled with hot water and tea leaves. All and all though our lunch was excellent, and it only cost about $ 25(plus the chicken ended up being enough for two meals!). I’ll definitely be back when I get my next fried chicken craving!

I bookmarked Kokio Chicken a while back and finally got around to trying it. It’s a small Korean chicken joint in the Larchmont area and it has pretty good food. Came famished with a friend and we ordered a LOT of food, totally underestimating the size of the dishes. The onion rings are really good– great crispy batter and fried to a perfect golden brown. They audibly crunch when you bite into them and are delicious with the salsa verde that they’re served with. Nothing groundbreaking, but onion rings worth trying. The honey rice cakes & chicken is really freaking good and I highly recommend it. The rice cakes have a slightly crispy exterior and come doused in a sweet, soy-based sauce. There’s nice heat and the fried chicken tastes so good with the sweet sauce. For chicken, we got the half original fried chicken and half sweet & spicy fried chicken basket. First, I have to make a note that the basket and size of the chicken wings/drumsticks are huge. It’s a lot of food even for two people, so be forewarned. The fried chicken is super crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. My one gripe would be that the sweet & spicy chicken isn’t spicy at all– I wish there had been way more heat. Also, there was something I couldn’t quite put my finger on about the flavor of the chicken that was the tiniest bit off-putting. Kokio seems to be a family favorite and there were always people coming in to take their orders to-go. For the love of Korean fried chicken, I’d probably go back!

Kokio Chicken was the first stop on a trip down to LA and my hungry tummy left satisfied! Our group ordered wings to share — crispy, honey bee, sweet and spicy, teriyaki and garlic. My favorites were the garlic(comes with chunks of garlic, yum!) and honey bee(had diced tomatoes/mangoes and a hint of honey). Their crispy wings were fried to perfection. I didn’t enjoy the teriyaki flavor because it didn’t really taste like teriyaki at all. Their wings come with salad and daikon(my favorite!). We also shared waffle fries. Kokio is fairly small, seating approximately 40 people or less. I arrived a few minutes before they opened so it wasn’t a problem to find seating for a group of nine. Their door was open before they were officially open but they seated us just as soon as they finished mopping. Our server was courteous — he accommodated our seating requests, filled drinks without asking and turned on the AC for us when we were hot. Although I enjoyed Kokio Chicken, I’m not sure I would make it a point to return as I’m not from the area.
