I was really impressed by this place — the clean tasting room, chill vibe, and of course, the great beers. There are some pretty experimental styles that hit the mark. Specifically the Koala, the gruit that was so interesting in the best way possible I can’t describe it. Definitely check this place out. The service was also great though I will say it was a bit pricier than other breweries in the area… just a bit.

Not was nothing special. It felt like a cold bland empty place. It feels like a «brewery» that’s just a «brewery» because it’s cool to own one. I wouldn’t recommend or ever come back. I am a beer nerd and I’m not one to diss anyone in the brewing industry because I respect what they do and I’m in the wine/beer industry myself, but sorry guys-nope! Good luck!

Found this place on Unilocal.Been here about 3 times and its my new spot. Cool spot… low key nice friendly staff and best part of all good beer. Down fall they close early. But amazing place to come and chat and play games with friends.

Mumford brewing was a great laid back spot that had some great beers. We showed up before closing and which gave me time for two beers. The Black Mamba, the dark ale which was their flagship dark ale, which was pretty easy drinking but had a lot of dark malt flavor with a little hoppy finish. I had time for another so I went with their Gridlocked which was a pretty easy drinking IPA. My friend and I sat at the bar and asked the bartender who turned out to be one of the owner’s dads about the CROWLER they have. I’d never seen a baby growler before so I was fascinated by it and I eventually got one, just the crowler since I couldn’t take more than 3 oz(non-checked bag) I did get a t-shirt that they put into the crowler-which they just gave me. The only thing that I dislike about it is that they close so early. Please stay open later!

Like most breweries in urban areas Mumford kinda pops up amidst a sprawl of warehouses. Except this one actually pops with its colorful paintings on its front wall. The space is clean and well lit, with tables and stand ups to accommodate groups of all sizes and is quite large compared to some other tasting rooms in the area. We came a part of a tour, and our guide gave us four different beers to try which were all tasty and good representations of the styles of beer they were presented as. As others have said, the black mamba, an American black ale is a perfect blend of dark notes from the malt with aromatic hops on the nose. The black mamba with coffee sounded amazing too! Will try for next time. Some other Tidbits that were picked up: They have board games for those who are inclined You are free to bring your own food in! They are the first place I’ve been to that sells 32oz CANS! Can + Growler =Crowler?! Perfect for one time drinking that can last much longer than beer in a growler can.

«Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the best brewery in downtown?.. Why Mumford, of course!» Hands down the best brewery in DTLA. As a wine enthusiast and novice beer drinker, I’ve been spoiled with great brewery recommendations, such as Stone, Beachwood, Ballast Point, and Barrel House! I love that head Brewer, Peter was a previous wine maker in Lodi, California and brings the same style of perfection when crafting his beers. I had the following: Bleach beer 4.6% — I loved this beer!!! Easy to drink and just enough flavor in a pale ale to make you want to finish the serving. This was one of my favorites! Groundskeeper 6% — a really cool Scottish stout. I’m a huge fan of stouts and this one is good. I really like the harmony in the favors. Very fruit forward, medium body yet rounded and complete. Great choice! Mindclouder 10.1% — this double IPA is a heavy hitter and it’s surprisingly lighter than you would expect but it’s got all the makings of its name. Black Coffee Mamba 7.75% — I can’t drink coffee so this was the next best thing. I appreciate the cohesion between coffee and beer. It was like taking speciality coffee and turning it into alcohol. Genius! El Fuego 4.7% — this jalapeño crème ale is super cool and fun! It’s does have a Sriracha flavor in a good way. Biggums 6.8% — the dubbel was my favorite of the night! It was perfectly crafted. Full flavored and well executed. A must try! All of the beers are favor forward and has an even taste profile with each sip. It’s mature and meticulous in execution. In Peter’s own words«we’re only getting better». I can’t wait to see what he crafts up next and ecstatic to come back for more.

New Brewery in Little Tokyo — Giving Angel City some competition?! Not quite yet, but its worth a try. The brewery is located on Boyd St. so street parking is your best bet. They do have a lot behind, but when we went the guy tried charging us $ 7 because«its before 5pm» so we just parked across on the street for free. The location is smaller than Angel City but fits a good amount of people. They have plenty of tables and music(there was a DJ spot but no DJ since we went at around 2pm). We ordered the Flight Sampler which is only $ 7. They pour 3 beers of their choice and you get to choose the last one yourself. All the beers were pretty good and tasty. The service was nice and friendly as well. They also offer some board games but they are behind the counter so you gotta ask for them. They have Jenga, Battleship, Scrabble, Monopoly and many others.

Another great brewery downtown where you can wet your whistle. It’s not all huge and cavernous like Angel City or Arts District Brewing but that is part of its charm. It feels more like a café, very chill and intimate for a brewery. Enjoyed a flight to test our their wares and I thought the beers were all pretty great – I’m a fan of the Black Coffee Mamba! Feel free to bring in your own food, as they don’t make any food on the premises. I’m definitely coming back. Be aware, though, that the sketchiest part of DTLA is only like a block away. STEPHJUDGEMENT: Great new chill brewery in downtown LA.

Come when they open and you’ll be golden. The service is great and the snacks are awesome. Yeah, the location is a bit sketchy, but hold on to your goods and prepare yourself for some great beer. The Saison de Peche, LA Crema, and Black Coffee Mamba are always a hit. If you get there early on a Sunday, you’ll get the Rockenwagner pretzel bites for free. In need of a real meal? Scoot yourself to The Escondite a couple of doors down and soak your beer up with some awesome sandwiches.

Mumford Brewing is PDG in my book: pretty damn good. Cool atmosphere, unpretentious vibe, solid, tasty craft brews, and many styles of beer to choose from. We came here with a few friends and were pleasantly surprised by the mellow but upbeat atmosphere. The large bay windows were thrown wide open, and sun was streaming into the brewery. Hipsters, families, and couples were united in enjoying hanging out on a warm Sunday afternoon while enjoying delicious beers. Mumford also has a bunch of board games if you’re into that. We grabbed a table and set up our snacks that we brought from home. Like most great breweries, Mumford doesn’t serve food but welcomes any food items you want to bring in. My husband and I decided to go for a flight since our plan was to hit up a few other breweries in the area as well. My favorites ended up being Saison de Sorachi and Biggums Dubbel, but the Black Coffee Mamba was really good, too. I wasn’t a huge fan of the IPAs, but I’m also not a big IPA drinker in general. I often find IPAs smell like cat pee, and yup, the IPAs here did have that smell to me. My husband enjoys IPA(and apparently cat pee — maybe he should be put on litter box duty for our two kitties) because he ordered a half pint of Looters double IPA and loved it. I ended up getting a half pint of the dubbel though it really was hard to decide between it and the saison because both were so refreshing and tasty for an afternoon sipper. And yeah, I said half pint — awesome that they offer these! Great brewery, nice bar staff, cool atmosphere. Parking was easy on the street though it’s not in the best neighborhood. Apparently they have a parking lot as well. I look forward to a return visit to Mumford the next time I’m in DTLA.

Looters IPA all day please. Stopped by here while out and about in the area. It’s tucked away on Boyd St. They have their own parking and plenty of street parking so don’t stress. I took the metro down, the Little Tokyo Station is about a 10 minute walk. The place is open, bright, and spacious. The guys behind the counter are pretty cool and friendly. They have a decent selection of beer to choose from, my favorite was(you guessed it) Looters IPA. I took some home, and kinda wish I took a lot more home. But hey, there’s only so much you can carry on a train.

Cool craft brewery spot downtown. It has a warehouse vibe in one large square space with individual and communal seating. Its pretty affordable and I like that they offer some Rockenwagner pretzels for food. They do need to set up some sort of microwave or toaster oven, however, so your pretzels aren’t cold. And I think they would benefit by offering a bar snack for free. Staff is pretty nice, not overly, but they do their job efficiently. I haven’t particularly loved any of the beers but I am no connoisseur so I can’t comment much on that. They do have a generous sampler which is a good way to try a handful of their selection and I like that they have seasonal options. I highly suggest you über it or metro it there. The parking situation is not ideal and the parking attendant was very rude… although I don’t believe they are associated with Mumford… I’m quite excited that there will be more craft breweries opening in the area. It will make for a fun and walkable beer haven in downtown… and Mumford is a great addition.

Was headed to the Esondite next door and saw this on the way. It was full of people, so I figured it was pretty good. I like the big, sparse, simplified feel of the place. There was a pretty good-sized crowd in there, but it wasn’t too loud and there were still places to sit or even standing tables to park yourself and enjoy your brew. I like that. Service was quick. We waited less than a minute to order our brews and have them served up. I gave the guy my credit card and he didn’t give it back. I guess most people run a tab and really fill up on the brewskis. It threw me off. The dude was gone and I didn’t have my credit card. Had to wait a few minutes to get it back and settle my tab. No biggie. I had a half pint of the Black Mamba Amercian dark ale. It was dark, but it wasn’ very smooth like a lot of dark beers are. It was pretty hoppy, and I was thirsty after I drank it. That’s not good, right? I don’t think I’ve ever been thirsty because I just finished a beer. My friend had an IPA. Pretty hoppy too. It was just OK he said. They have a great deal where you can sample three selected beers and still order a pint… all for just $ 7. If I weren’t driving, I’d go for that deal. Not a bad place to have a beer if you just want a no-frills place to have a beer. I wasn’t impressed with the beer, but for just having a beer and talking, I’d say it’s OK. I’d recommend a glass of water to go with the Black Mamba ale if you decide to order one.

I love how Los Angeles is the newest city to have craft beer booming like crazy with the addition of Mumford Brewing situated near Little Tokyo. My boyfriend and I decided to get some beer after our lunch at Little Tokyo and the walk took us about 7 minutes to get there. By the way, the streets near the brewery are pretty sketchy since it is near skid row. When we finally got inside, the atmosphere was quite welcoming with a huge space, its large logo on one wall, a couple of large mirrors on the other side, and plenty of long tables to go around. I had the house flight with the following beers — L.A. Crema, Campout, Gridlock, and Black Mamba(my favorite so far). I also got a taste out of Hop Rations from my boyfriend’s glass and it was pretty good! Most likely we will return to try more beers! Overall, Mumford Brewing is recommended for craft beer lovers everywhere!

A friend recommended this new microbrewery and tap room for an event we were planning so I got in touch with them and then went to check it out. We met with Tien, who co-owns Mumford with her husband and brother-in-law. The space reminds me more of a pizzeria, but the beer is pretty awesome. On tap are some regular and limited edition brews which come in several sizes(4 oz. tasters, ½ pints and full pints). You can also get larger sizes of some beers to drink at home. You can probably sample some beers before committing or rely on the staff’s expertise. Or, in my case, get the HOUSEFLIGHT for 4 oz. tasters of four different beers. My flight came with: * L.A. Crema — California Cream Ale * Campout — Pale Ale * Gridlock — IPA * Black Mamba — American Black Ale I seriously liked them all. I’ve never had a cream ale nor an American black ale before and was pleasantly surprised by both, particularly the latter one. I usually don’t like dark beers, but this was so smooth. Tien also had us try the L.A. Vanilla Crema(the L.A. Crema but with vanilla) and the Black Coffee Mamba(the Black Mamba but with coffee). Both were excellent variations! One side of the room has a cool mural which I learned is by the artist Augustine Kofie. This was the area ultimately recommended for our event. We had around 20 people attend a mixer and purchased drink tickets for our guests. Tien connected us with nearby Xlixe Pizza who delivered on time and also extended a nonprofit discount to us. Parking is super-easy too with free parking at the lot on the corner of Boyd St. & San Pedro St. after 5 pm and all day on Sundays. Mumford is located just outside of Little Tokyo on the edge of Skid Row.

A huge craft beer nerd told me on Instagram that Mumford was worth a visit. It’s been on my radar for a while, but I needed someone I trust to tell me it was good enough for me to visit. There a private lot but during the day, it $ 8 for parking and free after 6 pm from what the attendant told me. There’s plenty of metered parking, but the neighborhood is sketchy. There was a drugged out homeless woman right by my car where I parked. They have inexpensive tastings at only $ 2. They were attentive here and offered me a taste of any of the beers before I ordered. The two Mumford brothers at the bar constantly checking up on me. My favorite of the tastings was the limited coffee black mamba. They had three IPA’s on tap. My favorite was the Hop Rations which was fruit forward with mango and passion fruit, with a piney finish. I’d recommend this craft brewery over nearby Angel City Brewery in case you were wondering.

When I saw the name I instantly thought: omg like Mumford and Sons! It must be hip! LOL #basic Anyway, it’s a nice open space and decent pricing! Tasters(4 oz.) are only $ 2 each although since it’s by Little Tokyo parking is definitely a mission! This place reminded me a lot of Barley Forge in Costa Mesa, selection and atmosphere-wise. You order before you sit and if you do a flight/tasters they bring it to you on these wood paddles. Three tasters in, I got the drunchies and REALLY wanted some awesome fries or burgers– sadly they only have Röckenwagner pretzels as snacks. HOWEVER, I discovered that you can actually bring your own bites or order from nearby restaurants. Also, if you ask for a menu, they have XLIXE Pizza which has an app for delivery orders to the brewery. They also do curbside pick-up if you want to call ahead of time and order a «crowler» or «growler» of their beers. Most of the beers didn’t really stand out to me but my favorite beer was the Gridlock. Here is some information from the website below: HOURS: Thursdays, 4:00 pm — 9:00 pm Fridays, 4:00 pm — 9:00 pm Saturdays, 12:00 pm — 9:00 pm Sundays, 12:00 pm — 6:00 pm — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - BEERSCURRENTLYONTAP: Black Coffee Mamba — Limited! Found this newly opened place so we decided to give it a try. As spacious as it is inside, it was rather hard to find a table to sit. Since it’s a hangout spot and there was plenty of open space left, I suggest putting in more tables and chairs! Also, more snacks if possible and some playing cards would be awesome! :) Aside from that, everything was great! Reasonable prices, good beers, clean restrooms, and nice helpful staffs!

My new office is right by Mumford Brewery so I was stoked when I discovered it walking. The space is beautiful, simple, and well thought out. The windows out front open up and gives the space a more open feel, almost feels like your outdoors. The different brews are listed on chalkboards behind the bar, and they offer soft pretzels for drunchies. If that doesn’t hold you over, it’s also BYOFood! You can get grub delivered for run over next door to Escondite to place an order. I tried the IPA sampler — drank from light to dark — and they were all very interesting in it’s own way, and all very strong(none were under 7%). I don’t remember the names but the one that stuck out was the«Experimental.» It’s superrrrr smoky just from hops, and tastes like a campfire. It’s wild. I can’t imagine drinking an entire pint of it, but the little sampler from the flight was perfect. We revisited one of the IPAS in the flight again by ordering another pint of it – wish I remembered the name! Overall, the staff were super chill and knowledgable. Great place to visit especially while it’s still pretty undiscovered. Don’t mind the sketchy neighborhood, it grows on you!
