I came to LA and HAD to stop here for what the Food Network called one of America’s 5 best tacos! So I got two fish tacos and boy they were tasty! I never got a chance to go back for more while I was in town, but I will Deff be back I did remove one star for actually agreeing with EJ P.‘s review — I had to come here twice to get a damn taco lol — the first day I came — which Unilocal said they were open as did their website — yet the truck appeared closed and locked up with no one inside. They are lucky I am a foodie and came back later in the trip, but it is annoying when a place closes without notice — or even a sign! I stood around for 10 minutes wondering if there was a different entrance or something hahaha — I ended up at Shakey’s Pizza because of these shenanigans LOL

Finally caught them while they were open! I live near this spot and it’s always hard to catch them while they’re open and I’m still hungry. But! I’m glad I pulled over for these tacos. I got a fish and shrimp taco. They were super yummy! Tasted pretty fresh to me, and was full off of just 2 tacos!

BESTFISHTACOSPOT! I think I can leave it at that. The food truly speaks for itself. Even though this spot is a food truck called Ricky’s Fish Tacos, they will NOT disappoint when it comes to having the best lunch in town. The wait is a bit long, especially during lunch hours, but wow the tacos are well worth the wait. I usually get 2 tacos, but when I feel extremely hungry I order 3. The menu is pretty short and consists of about 3 or 4 different tacos, and I have tried all of those. My most favorites one are the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and Ricky’s special(amazing)! Definitely recommend this fish taco spot to everybody hungry and looking for a mouthwatering, stomach filling experience. :)

Sorry Ricky, but you hit on one of my biggest pet peeves: Restaurants that close on a whim and do not inform customers. I went here on 12÷30÷15 and the place was closed. No sign, no message on the voicemail, no social media alert, nada. Ricky, you fucking suck.

Shit. I can’t eat fish tacos anywhere else now. And I don’t even live in LA. I’m always hesitant when it comes to a spot w/so much hype, but damn this place delivered big time. My best friend had always told me about this truck, and so I made it a point to head out here while on vacay. I wasn’t sure what to get b/c I didn’t make much time to read all the reviews, so I just ended up ordered 2 fish tacos and 1 shrimp taco. Fuck the batter on the fish and shrimp is like crack. I wouldn’t be offended if it actually did contain crack. It’s that good. Fried to perfection: Crisp on the outside and still tender and«fresh» on the inside. It’s super hard to fuck up frying fish and shrimp but at the same time super easy. I was impressed. At first I thought I would’ve favored the fish over the shrimp, but I ended up liking the flavor of the fried shrimp way more. It was close b/c they were both damn good. I came here on a Sunday mid-afternoon around 2-ish, and it wasn’t crazy busy. There is still limited seating, so be conscious of that. I heard a guy order a lobster taco which I didn’t know was an option, so I guess so your reading on some reviews to see what else you can order that isn’t on the paper menu on the truck. For a couple bucks per taco, and as much fish and shrimp you get per taco, it’s way worth the money and hype. Next time I’m in LA I’m def. coming back here.

The best fish tacos on planet earth! The batter and fish is cooked to perfection! The batter is NOT soggy or heavy, it’s very light and tasty. Everyone needs to try these tacos if they’re ever out in LA!

Ordered some fish and shrimp tacos and they totally met my expectations after reading their help page! I don’t know what they use for their batter, but the shrimp and fish were fried to perfection. I would caution for those who don’t like a little spicy in their life. They put cut jalapeños in their tacos and it leaves you with a flaming mouth. I love spicy foods so it just added to the deliciousness!

It’s clear to me that Southern Californian’s have been brainwash in what I call the«tilapia complex» into thinking that throwing some beer battered white fish into a corn tortilla with cabbage and crema fresca makes it Ensenada style or Authentic. Despite the relative ease of getting fresh seafood we simply prefer to get cheap seafood(cheaper to ship fish to China for processing than process locally, also cheaper to raise poorly in Thailand and ship over). If it aint shark, it’s not authentic and this is swai. That’s like ordering USDA Prime Filet Mignon and getting Select Ribeye. Try finding tilapia in Portland, San Francisco or New England. I’m not even mad about it being a bottom feeding, it’s just a poor mans way of cutting costs and devoids all the authenticity. Maybe actually go to Ensenada Mexico and get the real thing so that you might not look so foolish when you secretly love Rubio’s but tell your friends and people you know what an Ensenada Style fish taco is. $ 3 for a street cart taco made with catfish, Hijo de la chingada. Because the fish is so good and the ingredients so prime that they have to send that back down the line to the customers. I drove all the way up from San Diego for this. I could have made it TO Ensenada faster. I liked the tortilla, I liked the cabbage, good salsa selection for a cart, but the crema is not agria even, the fish is not dogfish or other shark and the price is not reflective of value. Long lines annoyed me for mediocre food. I ended up getting additional food to wash away the disappointment(sasaya). Their tortillas weren’t even freshly made. Stay away from the lobster, it’s slipper and the shrimp is the blandest of the 3 when it needs the most seasoning(not including salsa) These are large taco’s, plenty of topping and size. A wide variety of salsa’s from mild to hot, all with good flavor. Staff is working fast for lunch, but maybe not so much for dinner, which is really not even dinner, it’s just a long lunch. I’d love their pico to have a finer dice as the chunks detract. Without the salsa it’s really just there for color contrast. I will not come back and neither should you.

Some of the best fish and shrimp tacos I’ve ever had. They recently raised the shrimp taco prices by 25 cents though :( Still, that doesn’t stop me from ordering more shrimp tacos. Sometimes they’ll serve lobster tacos for $ 9 for two tacos. Though it’s a little strange having a «luxury» seafood in a taco. I usually get 2 – 3 tacos whenever I come and I always add every sauce. Be mindful that the red and chipotle sauces are pretty hot so be aware of how much you add. I would rank the tacos from least to most favorite in this order: lobster, fish, then shrimp. For the quality and quantity I’d say the tacos are worth the price!

Five stars for best FISH taco, not best TACO! The portion of fish is huge and the batter on the fish is very flavorful. If I remember correctly a good amount of lemon pepper in the batter. Fish alone was solid. They use large corn tortillas as well and top your taco with diced tomatoes, onions, cabbage, and jalapeños. A good hefty amount of toppings. They have three salsas to top your tacos with. A green, red, and darker green(roasted) salsa. Let’s not forget the crema. I found the tacos to be a little dry without any salsas added to them but that problem was easily averted because I love me some salsa. The more the better! First bite was hot!!! The fish that is. Second and third bites were great. Last bite was the best. For FISH tacos, worth every penny. $ 3 each

I’m beginning to think I enjoy food more than sex… I can’t recall ever having better seafood tacos than Ricky’s. They’re not soggy. Nay, they’re the complete and absolute opposite. The crispiest batter you could wish for. Nothing I hate more than a limp fish stick. And for those saying, «Bruh, $ 3+ for a taco?» Nah, son. They don’t skimp on the seafood. It spills out of the taco. Trust. Get that spicy salsa on there and you’ll be changing your pants after love at first bite. I know a place nearby that rents rooms by the hour, if you wanna take your new seafood tacos to some place a little more private.
