A step above grocery store sushi. Ordered delivery using the eat24 app, Took over an hour to get delivered and then arrived without any chopsticks or soy. Kids were not happy. I will say the crab hand roll was delicious, but not enough to to make me justify $ 50 for mediocre sushi.

HORRIBLE customer service waited 45 minutes to get our name skipped on accident and saw people that came AFTER us get sat BEFORE us! when I confronted the waiter he said he called our name but we didn’t say anything. excuse me?! you didn’t even call the damn name and we were sitting right in the front of the damn place I’m sure I would have heard it. it’s late you made me waste my damn time! idiot!

If you’re looking for sushi there are probably better options, with better parking, better service, and a better location. So, I ordered an order to go. I got to the restaurant to pick it up about 15 minutes after I placed the order(The time it took me to drive there), and when I got there the waiter told me that the order was«brand new» and that it wouldn’t be ready for ANOTHER15 – 20 minutes. He then asked if I wouldn’t mind waiting outside! I soon found out why he asked this. It’s because the restaurant is very small and the front door is located so close to the bar and the seating area that if anyone is waiting inside there is no room to get through. Just observing the restaurant while I waited(for closer to 30 minutes, to go orders definitely aren’t a priority) everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, except the people that had to wait to be seated. And the people seated at takes against the wall kept giving the people sitting at the bar dirty looks when they would bump into them. There were a couple of girls standing by the door waiting to pay for almost ten minutes before they could get someone’s attention, and they clearly just wanted to leave. As for the sushi, it was… O-kay. Nothing great but definitely not bad. Would I go back? Maybe if I was already in the area and someone I was with wanted to go. Would i seek it out? Probably not.

My friend brought me to one of her fav sushi joints. I was not disappointed. Service was great and fast. The quality of the fish was by far the best I’ve ever had. The Salmon Truffle and Yellowtail melt in your mouth. The baked green mussels were not chewy at all. Wasabi and ginger are not readily available at your table so you have to ask for it. The blue crab roll was my favorite!!! The rice paper and the sesame seeds are a great touch. Their Chashu Ramen had a creamy base, it was so good I was slurping the broth until the end. Most of their plates are $ 2.95!!! Also try the fried chicken. The flavors are just perfect and the sauce compliments it even more. Just remember that it is CASHONLY. I hope to return again!

So it’s kinda confusing to have 3 different SushiStops on Sawtelle, all within walking distance from one another but. they did it. I’ve been to this one and the other one further down the street. Some minor differences really: — This one has mainly bar seating which I prefer because you get to see the sushi chefs roll the sushi. I thought it was really sweet that our chef would continuously walk over to us and give us our sushi. — The sushi portion on the menu is essentially the same at all the SushiStops. It’s the appetizers and special roll options that change. — This one specifically had more pricier special rolls ranging $ 4 – 6(the other SushiStop I went to had more $ 3 options, but I would definitely give this one a higher quality rating) — I prefer this SushiStop because of the parking. It’s located next to a larger parking complex that doesn’t involve the confusing valet system that is so prominent in LA. My roommate and I had a great time here. Mainly because we were fan-girling over the happy grandpa sushi chef. It was my first time sitting at the bar and being able to see the whole process. Definitely worth it and still extremely affordable. So out of the 3 SushiStops, I would go with this one! NTS: Hot tea is a wooping $ 3 and this place is cash only so save yourself the $ 3 service charge from the ATM!

This place is awesome. Dirt cheap, and for what you’re paying the sushi actually isn’t terrible. I’ll order pickups from here a ton and they’ve always been ready on time and as expected. Remember CASHONLY.

Cons: –No chopsticks –No Soy Sauce –No Ginger –Couldn’t tell which roll was which as they were smashed up and mushed together in the containers. –Delivery guy couldn’t hand it to me fast enough. Just about tossed it to me as he walked by my door. –Tempura veggies were undercooked and soggy. Couldn’t bite through the sweet potato. Pros: –Arrived in 1 hour as opposed to the 75min quote time. –Sodas were cold. You don’t even get what you pay for with this place and it’s dirt cheap.

Honestly love this place! I know the sushi is not always the freshest, but for the price, I think it’s worth it! Sushi can get pretty pricey, so when I’m in the mood and my wallet isn’t, I come here. Love the seared salmon! So delicious! And salmon avocado rolls are great, too! Miso soup and seaweed salad are okay. I prefer the cheaper $ 2.95 rolls over the more pricey ones. You get more and they just taste better in my opinion. Service can be slow sometimes, but I don’t mind. It’s cash only, so keep that in mind. The restroom is fairly clean. There is a decent amount of seating on the inside(all bar seating) and a few tables outside. Would recommend for someone looking for decently good sushi on a budget! I’m a tough critic when it comes to sushi, but for some reason, I like this place. It’s definitely not the best, but I think it’s worth the price. It’s way better than Kula down the street.

They have a lot of new rolls on their menu! Some of the prices have gone up too… So far I really like their Rainbow roll and Asian rolls at 6.00 for premium rolls. They brought the lemon roll back and it’s on the new menu. The baked rolls like dynamite and salmon, popcorn shrimp have gone up to 4.00BUT still cheaper than most places in the area with high quality sushi… Next i want to try the Dragon roll and and they also have the Shrimp Tempura roll back again on the menu!

Good prices for cheap sushi/japanese food. You could definitely get full off a couple plates! Some of the plates(ie. ramen, seaweed salad, etc) were a lot bigger than I expected. If I was a college student/on a hardcore budget, I wouldn’t mind coming here time to time. Other than that, I wouldn’t drive all the way for SushiStop. Some Things We Ordered: Chasu Ramen– broth wasn’t that flavorful and the meat was kind of hard. Noodles were good tho! Seaweed Salad — good for sharing + yummy! Cucumber Salad– This was alright. I preferred the seaweed salad more. Spicy Tuna Handroll– Just alright I came here with a group of 4 around 5:30−6pm and we waited for about 30 – 45 min. I wouldn’t come with more than a group of 4 since the seating is mostly at the bar and it’s very small.

3 reasons why this Sushistop is the best one in Sawtelle: 1. Doesn’t have nearly as many people lined up as the one next to Tsujita(probably since it’s much farther from all that hubbub). 2. Right next to the parking structure for easy(free) parking! 3. They serve a fantastic chashu ramen for $ 3.50! 4. Happy Hour is also at 10−11pm! Go get that $ 2 glass of Sapporo. I can’t count, but that’s just because this place is rockin’ those reasons. The only caveat I have is sometimes the service is a little shoddy. They have forgotten orders and seem to get really busy really easily. Oh well, for the price, this place cannot be beat!

I’ll give lowest star if I could, first, I get a terrible delivery, everything screwed up and become wet, but it doesn’t matter food still can eat. I have to say I never get allergic After seafood. But after eating oyster, as u can see it’s really pain. Its not kidding! Highly recommended not to go to this restaurant, it must something wrong with clean! But anyway, I still gave him tip, plz don’t let a poor guy deliver Sth, ain’t a good idea.

Good fresh sushi! Very affordable! Nice ambiance, if you eat yet. Bar style. I usually get it to go. There’s usually a longer wait than I prefer, but it is what it is.

Affordable, delicious, quick! I love that they have ramen, yakisoba, and sushi! What more could a girl ask for? For just under $ 30, my friend and I could order a plethora of japanese delicacies and still walk away fully bloated with the need to take a walk down Sawtelle. They no longer offer shabu so please note that before visiting. My usual order consists of: Blue crab hand roll, truffle yellowtail handroll, chicken yakisoba or the chasu ramen, eel, and sweet shrimp. Everything is $ 2.75 unless otherwise listed.(All handrolls are $ 4 I believe) Bluecrab handroll comes with avocado — ! Plus they have HH Mon– Fri 3 – 6

For the price. This place is a great place to get sushi late at night! :) It’s definitely not the highest quality sushi I’ve ever had, but everything is only 2.95 per plate!!! Can’t beat that! I used to come here a long time ago when they first opened and it was really really good, but since opening I think the quality has gone down, while the prices have gone up. Overall though, I really enjoy stopping by to grab a quick bite. Beware though! CASHONLY!

A great value for what you pay(in CASH!) Just be prepared to wait a little to be seated. Nigiri and rolls are mostly $ 3, while a couple things(hand rolls, certain nigiri, sashimi) are slightly more. The seating is bar-style around a central area where the sushi chefs do their work. I love watching my dishes being made, partly because it helps the time pass and partly because it makes me more excited to eat. FAVORITES: My favorite things here are the aburi(seared) salmon belly, aburi yellowtail belly, hand rolls, and spicy tuna on crispy rice. I highly recommend either of the aburi items. You can watch them blowtorch the tops of the nigiri pieces, giving them the perfect texture between raw and cooked-through. These pieces are also lightly seasoned with ponzu, so they have a great flavor without needing anything additional like soy sauce. HANDROLLS: In terms of hand rolls(all $ 4), you can’t go wrong with any of the choices. I love the yellowtail and salmon options with truffle oil, although they can be a litttleee heavy-handed with the truffle oil sometimes. The yellowtail comes minced(like negitoro) while the salmon comes sliced, and they don’t skimp on fish. My friend enjoyed the Hawaiian ahi tuna hand roll, although she wasn’t a big fan of the seaweed salad that came with it. I’ve heard people rave about the blue crab hand roll as well. You have the option to get your rolls wrapped in either seaweed or soy paper(I prefer seaweed!), but make sure you clarify if you have a strong preference for one. Overall, a great option for affordable sushi. It obviously isn’t going to be the same quality as high-end sushi, but remember that you aren’t paying high-end prices either. The hand rolls are the best items here because they’re tasty, filling, and well-proportioned. Get one along with a couple of pieces of sushi and you’ll be set. Also, don’t forget to check in on Unilocal for free miso soup!

I’m not gonna lie … before trying Sushistop I was quite skeptical. How good can $ 2.95 sushi possibly be? Answer … reallllllly, reallllllly, reallllllly good. We had the albacore, fresh water eel, salmon, sweet shrimp, jumbo scallops, tuna, yellow tail, aburi yellow tail, blue crab roll and crispy rice. Everything was shockingly delicious. I’m only giving this place 4 stars because the sushi pieces were pretty small and we had to order ALOT. Between 2 people we ended spending $ 85 after taxes & tip. That being said, I’m officially adding this to my regular spots.

All things considered, especially price, SushiStop turned out to be quite the pleasant surprise. I’ve walked by a few of these many times but never actually ate at one until a few weeks ago. While in the mood for sushi but not necessarily wanting to dish out $ 75+ on a meal, we decided to try it out. This particular location also serves Shabu Shabu, which is always fun. So we ordered that as well. I was pretty happy w/their hand rolls and fish quality. While not the best, for the price it’s actually very good. It is cash-only, which is annoying. But I would still go there over most conveyor-belt sushi joints and picking up grocery-store sushi.
