No stars. 2 drink minimum with a 15% gratuity added PERCHECK. You are hounded by wait staff to pay and close out when they need you to. Damn shame, funny comedians but horrible staff and I am sending a complaint to the BBB.

I must say that I am pleasantly surprised by my visit at the Comedy Union. The staff was accommodating, fast and friendly. Everyone knew their task and the process flowed quickly, from the hostess sitting you to the servers taking food and drink orders. The food was delish and the comedians were hilarious. I was not comfortable with sitting smack dab in the front but I guess that is a part of a comedy shows visit. I can definitely see myself returning. Kudos to the staff and taken of at Comedy Union.

Last night(3÷11÷16) my hubby and l went to The Comedy Union. It was our first time. The Comedians were so good! BT King was exceptional in keeping the crowd laughing. The stand up acts that followed were superb too. Scruncho shut down the show with a thought provoking and funny as heck performance. We liked that the Comedians were not crude to the audience, they never made jokes to hurt or embarass the audience. We did RSVP for the $ 10 each cover charge. We ordered 5 drinks and the bill included gratuity, final total $ 60.59.(1 cranberry and 4 margatitas) The drinks were good and the prices were just right. The staff were all friendly. Actually, $ 80.59 was a good price for all the fun and laughter we had, the price should have been more. Oh l forgot we paid $ 7 dollars to park in a lot across the street so $ 87.59 was it… There is a lot of street parking too. I hope that this place will never close and that Black Comics will always have a place to share their gifts and talents in a clever way with creative intelligent outlooks on life to continue uplifting people in a happy way. We will be back to experience a break away from lifes’s frustrations and just freely laugh and relax for 2 hours.

Positive– the comedians are hilarious and I love that there’s an outlet for up and coming black comedians. Would definitely Go back to support someone. Also, service was excellent. Negative– they don’t seem to be prepared to cater to larger crowds. Both times I went food and drink service was extremely slow. Most recently, they literally ran out of food! Told my date and I they didn’t have enough for both our orders so we had to pick one. Also, the food tasted like it had been rushed. I think with proper staff and supplies for the larger crowds it would be 4 – 5 stars :)

Had so much fun. Comedians are funny and the service it good. I wasn’t the biggest fan of their food but my boyfriend loved it and said it reminded him of his grandmas food. Highly recommend this place.

Outstanding. 2 hour show. The host, the waitress, the security, the cashier and every other person staffed there was nice. The talent was great. Drinks were ok. But for the price and quality the of show I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town. If you like a comedian they’re usually outside after the show with their own dvds. Great.

Came here for a date night. it was our first time… and we both loved it! My girl was laughing the whole time and I was laughing so much that my cheeks hurt halfway through. The comedians were great, the MC was funny, waitresses were friendly, bouncer in the front was a nice guy, and the atmosphere was great. Nice place to come for a date or even just with some friends. A small place but it’s intimate, feels like the comedian is just having a regular conversation with the audience. Would have given it 5 stars but just thought the drinks were a little pricey. Payed 7 dollars for a tiny little bottle of Red Stripe. The we’ll drinks we received were strong though so KUDOS on the alcohol. I grade it a 4.5 :)

I had a great time and am still in pain from laughing! As far as the venue and staff, I have no complaints. The bouncer, front door cashier, hostess and waitress were all pleasant and accommodating. The customer service was great and it’s refreshing to have consistent customer service like that! Drinks prices were fair, however I did not eat so I can’t comment on the food. My only tip is to arrive early for parking. There are meters if you can find one, however you’ll likely have to walk a couple of blocks. But this is LA, so this is nothing you don’t already know! I’ll definitely be back. Thanks for a great night out.

The Comedy Union Sponsored our Annual event to raise shoes the less fortunate. Mitch and his team provided an amazing environment for Kicks 4 the City to raise awareness, collect shoes, and have a Friday night full of laughter. Now about that chicken they serve, AMAZING!!!

Our national non-profit, Kicks 4 the City, organizes a shoe drive every November for the homeless in 8 cities. Each city hosts an event to showcase the cause. The LA team chose to host a comedy show this past Friday, 11⁄20 and Mitch, the owner, and his lovely assistant Deborah at The Comedy Union accommodated us WONDERFULLY! He took care of hiring the entertainers and helped us successfully carry out an eventful night for us as the organizers, but most importantly our guests! We ended up receiving up to 400 pairs this night alone, pushing us over the 1,000 pair goal as a city! All donations benefited The Midnight Mission, a homeless shelter in Skid Row, DTLA. The comedians were AMAZING, the staff was AMAZING, the food/drinks were AMAZING! We could have not anticipated a better event for a better cause! THANKYOUCOMEDYUNION for your hospitality and love. We will definitely be back ;)

We had so much fun Friday night. It was ridiculous how hard we were laughing. I mean it’s rare when I enjoy every single act that performs. And I love the fact that show started on time.

I must say that the comedians are funny and you will laugh. Even if you heard the joke last week. This is a good place that is local and lowkey. Drinks and food: Drinks are worth the $ and the food is pretty good.

Come for the comedy. Do not, I repeat, do not eat here unless you are starving and in that case have the chicken wings — or the catfish — no sides, well the greens and cornbread are ok most times. I thought it was just my first experience the last time. The yams are under cooked, serves half cold, half lukewarm and don’t taste all that well. Way too much nutmeg and more citrus than sweet. I know sweet potatoes. The Mac and cheese is pasty and super spicy and undercooked pasta and almost like they put jalapeño in it. OMG, get a new caterer. Hire me! Any home cook would be better. Sorry, I was super hungry and highly disappointed. Funny night though. The comedy is always great, the owner is very nice and accommodating and it’s a cool spot but they need to do better with the food. I don’t have a problem with a two drink minimum but the waitresses take FOREVER but I’ll Be back.

Funny, funny, funny! The food is a little over priced and the drinks are not as potent as you would probably like but the comedy is A-1. I laughed hard and I had a great time. I will definitely return. It’s an intimate venue with plenty of seating. I visited on a Wednesday night… great way to split up a long week.

BESTCOMEDYCLUBINLA!!! Beats The Laugh Factory by FAR. The servers are always so friendly, cute and attentive. The comedy is always on point and never fails to make me cry from laughter! The drinks are so tasty I always get more than their 2 drink minimum. Food is tasty as well! Come in for a date, your birthday, anniversary or just for a weekly pick me up. Talent will not disappoint !

Went lastnight. My cousin got tickets from her university, so we wanted to try something different . Comedians were awesome. They had me doing the retarded dolphin clap, the one foot stomp and clap, and fat girl outta breath laugh from all their jokes! Staff was very pleasant, from the bouncer to the servers they made us feel very comfortable. The women’s bathroom was CLEAN! Big plus. It’s a little club that’s a bit run down however, the good vibes and atmosphere make up for it. I didn’t order alcohol so no input on that. They didn’t have cider, I wanted a Guinness with cider. So I just ordered iced tea.
