Went on Father’s day, with only 2 other family’s in side. ordered 3 plates of fish and chips and a whole crab an half order # of shrimp I was last to get my plate, I had to ask 4 it so when I finally got it everything was over cooked an my whole crab was missing 3 legs. asked for Togo bag she put everything in a new bag an placed the clean bag on the dirty table. The service wasn’t very good. I will not go back… I wish I could of picked zero stars…

Love this place! Victor and his staff are awesome; especially Glenda. Love the butter garlic shrimp and calamari. They also have awesome Micheladas. I recommend this place to all my friends and family

The service was good as the waitress realized the bad reviews here on Unilocal.Snow crab legs were the worst i’ve ever had. Way to small and flavorless. Shrimp were ok but still lacked in flavor. My oldest son ordered wings and was dissapointed due to lack in flavor. My youngest ordered Mac & cheese. The mac was from a box and tasted horrible. If you want true crab and shrimp THISISDEFFNOTTHEPLACETOGO. Take my word and go elsewhere. Prices are high and the food sucks in all honesty. boiling crab, kicking cajun and drunken crab are on another level. Seems like this place tried to jump on the crab bandwagon but failed on the food. Dont make the same mistake i did.

Parking was easy here. Lots of spots. However it did take a while for me to find the door! The outside is a little hidden, but follow the black/red walkway leading from the patio and you’ll find it! I was caught off guard because it looked like an office entrance. The service was good. The ambiance was nice too. It was clean and typical of the other Boiling Crab like restaurants. I liked the high ceilings here, felt roomy! Bonus, they serve you bibs AND gloves at no cost! THANKS! My fiancé and I shared the firecrackers(jalapeño stuffed with shrimp and cream cheese then deep fried). You get two but they’re cut in half so it’s easy to share. They were definitely tasty, but rich! In the future I’ll only eat ½ lol. Next time I want to try the deep fried scallops, those sound yummy! I’m a seafood fanatic and crawfish lover, so of course I got an order of crawfish. I was a little disappointed as you could tell they were frozen and not great quality. I’ve had frozen crawfish that were actually good, but I had to stop eating because I really did not enjoy them. I did, however, appreciate the different sauces they offer. I tried the jalapeño limon/spicy. Boy was it spicy!!! But I liked it a lot! I think next time I’ll stick to medium! My fiancé ordered the soft shell crab sub(the fries that came with it were good). This was so different than anything Ive ever had. If you like soft shell crab, give this a try. I’d go back to order one of these for myself! He also ordered fried fish tacos, which he thought were ok, but I loved them!

I just ordered the fried shrimp basket. The shrimp was over-fried and really hard to eat. The French fries tasted really old and left a nasty after taste in my mouth. I asked for a Cajun fries substitution and they don’t tell you on the menu that you have to pay extra for that. I like the island feel of the restaurant but not a fan of whatever they served me.

First off I only giving this establishment 1 star and that is only for the Micheladas. This place is called«Crunchy Crab» which already the name isn’t very appealing. I have ate at the following establishments and in this order I would rate them(best to worst) Boiling Crab, Kickin Kasian, Drunken Crab, the Crabby Crab, and Crunchy Crab. This is the worst of them all, the«mix/sauce» was like tomato sauce, it did not move, it was stuck on my shrimp, corn, sausage, and potatoes. I got the medium sauce and it was pretty hot and had a pretty strong spicy kick to it. The spicy tomato sauce made it very hard to enjoy. Then the sausage wasn’t cut into little pieces, it was like hot dogs in my shrimp bag. The calamari was ridiculous and it was whole which isn’t appealing to everyone. The fries and Micheladas were not bad but mixing them with the horrible food made things worse. They have a huge fountain when you first walk in and there is no water so it looks like a poor decoration. I enjoyed the outside patio setting but the waitress hardly comes outside to check on how the food/drinks are so consider what kind of service you want. I will not be returning unless they figure out the process. You can’t copy other establishments and get the whole thing wrong. Also they have everything on their menus(burgers, tacos, etcetera). Let’s keep things simple. Another con is that their prices are ridiculous. Between my boyfriend and I: two half pound shrimps and add Louis style(potatoes, sausage, corn), a Micheladas and a beer it was $ 78.00. No thank you, I will not go back and definitely not recommending it.

We wanted to try something new not too far and found Crunchy Crab by Unilocaling. Really I wanted these friend crab stuffed Jalapenos I saw on the manu they looked amazing but I found out they really weren’t:(The jalapeño wasn’t cooked and the breading tasted basically like a corn dog… The garlic cheese bread was very good the garlic butter sauce snow crap legs also good. We got medium spice on our peeled shrimp which was soooo spicey I was over it and stopping eating them and I like spicey food. Wasn’t amazing wasn’t horrible. Last thing I hated they only had plastic forks and nothing to crack open your crab with and no gloves or buckets to put your shells or trash in. Would I return no

I got the soft shell crab basket which is the actual crab itself with an edible shell. 2 of them, actually. They’re fried. They’re delicious. But they’re pretty small. It comes with fries but you’ll probably want order clam chowder too to make it a full meal. Atmosphere is casual, nothing over the top.

I’m not one to leave reviews, many of times I feel people are ridiculously critical but this place is definitely a favorite for my colleagues and myself. I first came here for lunch with a friend and have since been here multiple times for lunch and EVERY time, it’s delicious and perfect! Working in Sylmar has definitely come with it’s challenges with finding great food, the addition of this great establishment has truly been such a treat. We’ve even celebrated a retirement for one of our colleagues and many of them even come here during the weekend with their families. Today, we went there for lunch and the owner Victor came out and treated our table with a Calamari and Honey Boo Boo appetizer which were delicious! There is spark in his eyes when he talks about his dishes and customers which to me reflects on all the great dishes we have tried there. Can’t wait to go there again :) For those who read the iffy reviews, don’t let them deter you from giving it a try yourself.

I am very shocked at the reviews I have read. I have been here several times and still really enjoy this place for over a year now. I eat out a lot, I am True Foodie and very critical about the food I eat. I was their favorite customer when they first opened. I would go twice a week. Those pictures and reviews are on my Instagram, «ruthieh1120» along with other picstures and restaurant reviews. My 1st review about Crunchy Crab was, May 2, 2015 on Facebook: «Garlic Butter Shrimp Bag is AMAZING! The Carribean Shrimp Plate is DELICIOUS! The Crab Legs also in Garlic Butter was INCREDIBLE, includes Claws. The Carribean Salmon Plate is VERYTASTY! I keep coming back» I didn’t mention the Firecracker Jalapeño peppers, stuffed with shrimp & cream cheese, hand-battered and deep-fried, along with the Surf N Turf Burger with Jumbo Grilled Shrimp, half pound Angus on a Brioche Bun are A MUSTTRY. There’s something for everyone’s taste buds. I have brought my family from out of town and several friends. My daughter really enjoys this place and she is a very picky eater. I brought my mother with a party of 15 and we had great service and our food was Delicious. I keep going back, trying several other items on their menu. I’ve NEVER had a bad experience. I continue to enjoy Crunchy Crab’s food and now their Micheladas.

Great crab in a bag place. I ordered the lemon pepper snow crab legs and my fiancé ordered the bag of peeled shrimp with garlic butter. We came here on a Monday night and it was pretty quiet, so at first I was worried maybe the food wasn’t good, but as soon as I tried the shrimp and the crab I was quickly assured how much I was going to like this place. Our server was nice and kept checking on us to make sure we had refills and that the food was fine. The prices are reasonable for seafood and I highly recommend getting your corn in the bag with the seafood. My only complaint was the rice we ordered, it was very bland and no flavor at all. The server was nice and let us exchange it for some fries. All in all our experience here was a great one, we have definitely found a new crab/shrimp restaurant for our seafood cravings!

I’ve eaten inside and ordered take out and enjoyed both. Garlic butter shrimp tastes great and I prefer the snow crab to the King crab because I get to the goodness faster. Price for peeled shrimp is a bit high for me, but shrimp is clean, fresh, nicely cooked not overdone. The right sauce can make your meal and the wrong one ruin it. If in doubt, try it first before you pay for a lot of seafood you can’t eat. Hate the fact that you have to pay for phone orders before you pick up but I can deal, so no problem.

Similar to Joe’s Crab Shack and Boiling Crab, your food comes in a bag, which you place on wax paper instead of plates(though plates are given). Our server was attentive and the food was tasty. Give them a chance when in the Sylmar area.

Since I’ve been here a few times since my five star blow out review I thought I should update. It’s not that the quality of the stuff I LIKE has gone down, it’s that only half the stuff I get is stuff that I like. The french fries are terrible, the fried soft crabs look like they had been in grease that was used all day and were unappealing. I had shrimp in a bag and it was overcooked and the seasoning didn’t really stick. It’s really sad because what’s good is really good, but that’s only half the stuff and thus I must reduce my review by half. Please get these right.

I really wanted to like this place due to it being 7 minutes from me, gave it three tries but it’s just not as good as Drunken Crab in North Hollywood. The prices are pretty expensive and the food is OK. I’ve ordered the shrimp, mussels and crawfish. All were OK, nothing great. Pretty disappointed with the kids menu, really expensive and misleading. Chicken Tenders are tiny processed nuggets, not even close to tenders :/. I’ve been to similar seafood places and the kids menu is exceptional. Chicken is all white meat actual tenders, not nuggets, they need to correct this on the menu if they are going to charge $ 7 for a knock off Happy Meal. Service is just ok, they don’t provide buckets to throw your shells in so the table gets messy. Last two times they ran out of kids crayons and service was extremely slow. Unfortunately, I will be making the drive to Drunken Crab in North Hollywood or Kicking Kasians in Northridge next time, sorry Crunchy Crab, it’s not you it’s…who am I fooling, it is you. Lol.

If you’re looking for great boiled shrimps/Cajun fries/fish tacos. This is not the place. I’ve had way better boiled shrimps than this. Shrimps. Seasoning was too salty. Cajun Fries. Big small chunks of Cajun with batter kind of tasted burnt. Fish Tacos. Oily and tasted burnt! Was not expecting what I expected. I don’t know what’s up with the hype.

We decided to come for our weekly Friday dinner after work dinner. I usually get the pound of shrimp but decided to get the grilled salmon instead. Great decision. The salmon was grilled perfect and the teriyaki sauce that came on it was good, not too much and not too sweet. The salad that came with it was a Greek style salad with a raspberry vinegarette bit they were out and gave me a balsamic dressing. Great touch. There was a southern style yellow rice with it. That was good too. Definitely a repeat dish

This place was solid. Been wanting to go to crab place for a while now(ie boiling crab, Cajun crab) so not sure how it compares to the others, but dang it was tasty. There were plenty of seafood options to choose from. The majority of my party chose king crab legs and one chose shrimp. One pound of king crab($ 30) was extremely filling. I chose spicy BBQ habanero. The bag of shrimp was $ 13 and that bag was heavy, filled, and packed with large jumbo shrimp! You definitely get your money’s worth. Haha it was definitely hard to take any pictures because your fingers get pretty dirty and all you want to do is pound through that pound of goodness. The workout and crab was worth it. Thanks crunchy crab!
