I very rarely review places, but this last experience with Mandarin Lowell set me off. I ordered 2 plates(small order) at 6:10. I then called at 7:20 when I hadn’t received my food order. I called up and was pretty calm, because it is food(no big deal), but immediately the woman on the food threw every excuse my way. First I was told I said Blvd, not Street, for my OWN address. Even if I had a sudden lapse in memory, and forgot where I live, the woman who originally took my order stated she had my address(we order every few weeks from there). The experience has been«meh» but the other Chinese places in the area’s food is lackluster. So, I was told I lied to her about my address, then she said she can do anything as an apology when I asked, and then said«We are busy, I am so sorry for you(sarcastic tone).» So I was called a liar, and mocked on the phone for a delivery they screwed up. This place has good Chinese, but this is the last time, as I eat my now cold food. Get your act together.

I ordered delivery from here once and would never eat from here again. I ordered a General Gao Chicken lunch special. Yes, it was a lot of food, but mostly rice. It had a few pieces of chicken. I had a couple of bites and threw the rest out. So many more Asian restaurants around better than this.

Best bang for the buck you can ask for. If you want leftovers Chinese food to take home, eat here. Pu pu platter for 2 can feed 4 people at a reasonable price. Just wish the parking was a little more spacious.

Extremely rude, way to much going on this place for no good reason really, «Mandarin» was dead yet they rushed us in and out, when we were just trying to chill out and sip on a «Scorpion Bowl»… Few nice staff members, majority were rude! Oh… and two different servers didn’t even know what tofu was causing a scene… This is the first real negative experience I’ve really wrote about on Unilocal. So, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant as a first choice.

I wanted a different place to order Chinese food from and decided to give this place a shot. I had their chicken fingers, pork fried rice and chicken lo mein. It was so delicious, especially the lo mein. I will order from here the next time that I want Chinese.

One of the few Chinese restaurants that has Gai Poo Lo Mein on the menu! Get it every time! Great value for the dollar.

sushi and sashimi is ok at best. not very fresh and slightly fishy tasting. we got the love boat, which is a $ 50 sharing plate and we had to also share the soup(one bowl) which was odd. atmosphere is wonderful, and the live music that night was nice, kind of loud though. our waitress was very limited with her English.

I thought I had enjoyed this place before, but the food I just got was disgusting. The scallion pancakes seemed like they were left over from the night before and they heated them up on a dirty grill. The eggroll was completely soggy and the general tso looked like little pieces of scrap. I didn’t eat more than one bite of each item and will never get this food again.

My go-to place for Americanized Chinese food. Chicken fingers, boneless spare ribs, crab rangoon, egg roll and pork fried rice always on point. What more do you need? I always go during lunch because it’s cheap. The employees like to watch you eat — I find it pretty hilarious.

Not good. The service was quick(10 mins on a Friday evening), and I found out why. None of the food was thoroughly cooked. We ordered crab rangoon & scallion pancakes, both of which were doughy and chewy. Also the chicken dish was soggy and the chicken undercooked. Save your money, go somewhere else.

Greasy, greasy, greasy food. Everything was greasy. My wife and I visited the restaurant because we noted on our way to the China Star for Dim Sum that this place seemed to be always busy. We walked in and saw that the restaurant was tiny — but because it was a Tuesday evening, only one other table was filled. So we sat down. We ordered beef with string beans and pork lowmein. The beef arrived just dripping with oil/grease. It was tasteless and did a job on my stomach. The lowmein arrived shortly afterward. It, too, was swimming in grease. In addition, the amount of pork and other vegetables were absolutely minimal. Neither of us could finish our meal — we walked out of the restaurant sick to our stomachs and vowing never to return.

Dirty, dirty, dirty! We stopped by for lunch and the place was empty. Waitress poured us the water and took our drink orders. Then we noticed all our glasses were dirty and one cup had a floatee. Ewwww! We paid for the drinks and left immediately. One dirty glass… ok. but all 4… no. that is unacceptable! We dined at China star dim sum instead. Their food was delicious and the dishes were clean

We’ve always been fans of Mandarin, but the last couple times we’ve ordered have been total fails. Soggy crab rangoon, bean sprouts in the rice when we asked for none, very fatty spare ribs, and the chicken fingers had zero flavor and extremely greasy.

Everything you can ask for in a Chinese takeout place. Both the quality AND quantity of the food I ordered was superb. Food tasted great and the amount of rice that comes in the dinner plate is pretty epic. See, to me this is a place that just seems to get a simple philosophy; give generous portions and word will spread that you give generous portions. That’s how you keep customers coming back. The stingy restaurants just don’t seem to get that I guess. Couldn’t give it 5 star rating being as the service kind of crappy; but for a takeout joint, as long as the food tastes good and you give me lots of it, I really don’t care as much about your people skills.

An experience that was pretty funny. The place is a little bigger than a shed, for people who like to go on an adventure you should try it out. When we went, there was a woman who was randomly singing(mind you, there’s 2 big screen TVs playing sports but that didn’t stop her). The food was traditional American Chinese, with enough oil to clog your arteries and regret what you ate the next day.

I haven’t ordered food from the Mandarin since college(gasp! that’s over 10 years ago!). I felt the same, unsure feeling when someone from work suggested we go there for drinks after work. The gaudy green-blue façade. The peppermint pink trim. Don’t judge, though, this place is fantastic! Though I didn’t order food when we went out for drinks, I was sure to rush home and rave about it. The drinks, mind you, were super boozy. The mai tai was rum-tastic! I had just one and sipped it slow. A week later we ordered takeout. Amazing! I had the Kung Pao Chicken with boneless spareribs and pork fried rice. The rice was fluffy, with crispy bean sprouts and onions mixed in. The boneless ribs were thin, almost a bit meatier than jerky. I like them this way and there were plenty on the plate — the portions were huge! The Kung Pao Chicken was just okay. The celery and carrots were fresh and had a great crunch and the sauce was slightly spicy. My boyfriend loves the General Gau’s Chicken — it’s breaded and crispy, tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce. Mandarin is fantastic for huge portions of fresh food or a stiff beverage. One of the best for Chinese take-out in Lowell.
