Let me just start by saying I have been a long time customer of this place(probably close to 18 years) and have always enjoyed it, but lately it has really gone down hill. The management has gotten TERRIBLE and staff is VERYRUDE. Last night we went to eat there at 7:45pm(a reasonable dinner time), only to find out that they are now closing at 8pm(ridiculous being very close proximity to a college campus and a hospital) and we were also told that we were not allowed to eat in the restaurant and we had to get our order togo. The dressing bar was already packed up and they were not even closed! It was like they were mad we were even in the restaurant and did not want our business. We left and did not get food because I do not want to spend my hard earned money at a place that treats me so incredibly rude. They do not deserve your business or mine.

I’ve ordered Take-out from Bless Your Heart several times, each time the food was good. I dined in the restaurant for the first time recently. While the food was the same as it always is, my experience was terrible. I went into the restaurant at around 7:35 on a Friday evening. After ordering my food, the cashier rudely said, «just so you know, we close in 20 minutes.» I absolutely hate when employees treat me like a nuisance. Secondly, although the restaurant was still open, the staff had already started removing condiments and dressings from the cold bar. While I understand that it was almost closing time, a restaurant should always stay completely open until closing time. I have heard that this restaurant is currently for sale. Hopefully the new owners train the staff to be more professional.

I’m in Lubbock for business, and was desperate to find a light, healthy meal option. I went here to pick up some dinner, and ordered the Mediterranean pizza. When I opened the box, I was disappointed to see that the shredded cheese wasn’t even melted all the way — it looked like the pizza had been microwaved. There were also enormous 1 inch thick rings of raw-looking purple onion on top. Not appetizing at all. The good news was the pizza was portioned for two people, and I was not tempted to eat more than my share. This place could have some real potential if a little more care was put into the quality of the food — they certainly don’t have much competition in the health food market here.

Bless your Heart is a cute little café with health conscious food. When I went in had the roast beef half sandwich with chicken noodle soup. Perfect for such cold weather like we have been having. It is a little overpriced but the food itself is delicious. Would recommend

The food is pretty bland. I gave it a 2 bc at least it’s relatively healthy(when compared to other restaurants). What really bothers me are the people who work there. Even if there is a long line of customers, the employees all take their break at the same time and just sit there eating frozen yogurt while one person takes care of the register and gets the orders together. The other day I phoned in an order but it still took me an hour to get there and get out with my food. And I live two minutes away!

I love to eat at this place, since I am on a diet and because they give you the amount of calories and carbs in each meal. Plus, the food is good! I would recommend trying the turkey burger, healthy clucker, chic-a-cado taco, healthy clucker taco, or turkey sandwich. Their bread is great, you have to buy a loaf and take it home! The muffins are delicious as well! Oh, and the yogurt is the best yogurt you will ever eat! It tastes homemade and not like that sugary junk you get at other places. My favorite flavor they have is red velvet. Yum! The negative points about this place is how unprofessional and rude the staff is! They have gotten to be very impolite dealing with customers over the phone and in person, they mess up on my orders, and they are constantly playing around. It’s so bothersome! The place is also dirty and stinks like their filthy trash cans located in the middle of the rooms. Gross! Their restroom stinks too. This place needs some cleaning up and new staff or management, and then I believe it will be a greater success! Some smaller complaints is that a lot of the staff gives me my yogurt half full. Also, a few things are missing on their paper menus that are on their website and menu on the wall, so watch out for that, and they don’t give you every nutritional information on ALL their products, like the muffins, which I feel they should!!! Lastly, I came in on the evening of September 17th2013 and the man who I usually see overseeing the young staff was not present and they were VERYVERY unprofessional(more than usual)! They were hollering, singing and cussing very loud and didn’t seem to care that I nor the few other customers were present. There was dirty plates everywhere and I felt very irritated at their behavior, but I politely thanked them and left with my HALF full«supposed to be» LARGE yogurt. Haha: P

I had weight loss surgery in 2009. At the time, I was living in Lubbock and struggling to assimilate into a new way of eating. Lubbock dining is replete with deep-fried delicacies and other not-so-good-for-you treats. I was so afraid to eat out because I didn’t want to «mess up.» The first place I felt safe eating was Bless Your Heart. I won’t say that ALL the food was especially flavorful, because some things are more bland than others. However, I never had anything I didn’t find acceptable. Furthermore, some things were downright delicious. My favorite thing was always the selection of fresh fruit — it was some of the freshest, most juicy fruit I have ever had. I’m salivating even now just thinking about it. For someone who is learning new habits or trying to stick to good ones, Bless Your Heart is a gift from above. I really credit this place for helping to kick-start my 150-pound weight loss and paving the road to maintain my success(which I have).

Bless Your Heart is a café that sits less tha 300yards from one of the 2 major regional hospitals in this area, and about a mile from the other.(and just down the street from a major university with over 30k students, plus a med school and a law school.) The food is a little lower in fat than most — in general. A little lower in sodium than most — in general. There are some really healthy choices on their menu — and some that are meant to apease the rest of the crowd. In general, this café is the most like what I would cook at home when I’m trying to eat healthy — more so than anywhere else in town. So you’re not going to find greasy fries, cheese-loaded burgers that drip cholesterol, or rich, fatty salad dressings. It’s just not that kind of place. What you will find is hot soup every day(they have an alternating menu of soups). The option of chips, pasta salad(very light), or fresh fruit with any sandwich; and some chicken entrees that will make anybody watching their saturated fats, sodium, and calories extremely happy. Great grilled veggies as a side; excellent fat-free frozen yogurt(the best I’ve ever had, actually — try the Dreamcycle and the Key Lime Pie flavors… or mix some strawberry and peanut butter flavors for a PB&J.) Excellent tortilla soup. They offer a good selection of fresh fruit every day — my favorite lunch is their fruit and yogurt bowl — tons of beautiful fruit and the frozen yogurt of your choice — and you can add sprinkly things like nuts, graham crackers, etc as well. My best friend always goes for their cheese pizza — and I’m a sucker for their turkey and avocado sandwich. My husband always goes for the teriyaki chicken dinner… Only complaint is their blagh brown bread. Not nearly enough flavor, and no choice at all. I’d really like to be able to pick an alternative.

I’m giving this place 3 stars just because it was nice to have a healthy, fresh option for food when passing through Lubbock during a long day of driving. In a larger city, I probably wouldn’t go here again, but based on my limited Lubbock experience(driving through the city a few times and reading Unilocal restaurant reviews) there aren’t a lot of options, so I’m grateful that this is a possibility. The food was healthy and fresh. I enjoyed a veggie sandwich, vegetable soup and fruit cup. I also liked that they had a ‘toppings bar’ of salad dressings, mustards, etc. that you could add. However, the food though healthy and ‘lite’ was not interesting. I can’t imagine it would convert folks who normally enjoy food with lots of butter.

If I could describe the place in one word it would be: bland. If I had two, they’d be: bland & overpriced. I haven’t eaten here that often for the aforementioned reasons. I’m definitely not opposed to healthy food, but it doesn’t have to be bland. I’d rather go to Well Body than BYH. Better prices and flavors. The dish I’m thinking of was the grilled chicken sandwich. Bread: thick and tasteless, almost cardboard like; Chicken Breast: nicely grilled, good quality meat, but no seasoning or marinade, seemingly; I guess you’re supposed to go over to their little dressings bar if you don’t want the sandwich to be completely dry. Overall Underwhelming. The pasta salad that came as a side was nice though. Two stars for the effort of trying to have a healthy restaurant, but the same for having it suck. I’ll try the place again soon, since I’ve only been a few times and it’s been a while. Update to come.

Overpriced sandwiches I can make at home. I don’t get the hype. I’d rather spend my lunch money at Home Café.

Great little healthy place to check out. Only downside is that healthy does not always equate with tasty.

What a great little place to go for lunch. There was something on the menu for everyone! I had a chicken taco — well that’s what they called it, but it was basically a chicken salad wrap — and a yummy one at that. In addition to the variety on the menu there was also a neat ‘salsa’ bar with dressings and salsas to add to whatever you ordered. Overall a good place to choose for a lunch out.

Came here for a late lunch. Place was relatively quiet with only a handful of people in the restaurant. Ordered the Buffalo Burger which was pretty good but it took almost 15 minutes to get. They do warn you that it will take a while to cook but I thought it wouldn’t take as long with almost no one in the store. Overall a good place to eat but I will try something else next time.

Bless Your Heart is the perfect place for something a little different in the Hub City. The selection and variety that they offer is pretty impressive and always tasty, the only negative thing about BYH is that the price is a little high for the amount of food that is offered. $ 11 for a turkey sandwich with some sprout things and a drink is a little steep for Lubbock, but it hasn’t kept me from returning. The restaurant is always busy at lunch but nearly empty around dinner. The atmosphere really changes between the two and a quiet dinner there is sometimes a nice change. If you plan on eating lunch, show up at 1145 or 1230, but NO place in between the two. The line will be all the way through the door during the beginning of the lunch hour EVERY day. I really like that they command that much business during lunch, there are not that many places around town that have such a loyal following. My order 90% of the time is the Turkey Tango with fresh fruit and an Oreo Frozen Yogurt chaser. In short, if you want a great(and healthy) meal then BYH should be your next stop as long as you know that relatively the same sandwich from Schlotsky’s(at the opposite end of the shopping strip) will save you a couple bucks.

I’ve always enjoyed Bless Your Heart as a good place for a lighter meal. Its especially good for lunch. I usually get their Asian Chicken Salad(or maybe its called Teryaki chicken?) which is always satisfying. They have a nice selection of sandwiches, salads, and hot dishes(like stuffed baked potatoes and pizza). The nutritional content is printed on the menu which is nice. However — I should note that a pastry chef friend of mine has seen their recipe for their whole wheat bread and said it is not at all whole wheat — basically white bread — but at least its home baked.

I am pretty sure this Is the only place in town that doesn’t have the goal of killing you slowly by clogging arteries. That’s right a healthy restaurant in Lubbock. What they provide in the way of healthy choices they lack in the way of flavor. For those that acknowledge in Lubbock, it is either health or flavor and choose health, this is a decent place to eat. If you want health and flavor cook for yourself or move to a big city. I did find that women liked this place for a date because of the health factor. Take it for what it’s worth.

A restaurant for people who have no self-restraint, are dieting, trying to get in shape or are generally health-conscious. Basically, Bless Your Heart is delicious, reasonably priced and everything on the menu is made specifically to be healthy for you. They have good sandwiches, pizzas, baked potatoes, Mexican dishes, salad, fruit and fat free frozen yogurts. Nothing that I’ve gotten there has been anything less than yummy and satisfying. It’s quick most of the time, but can get busy at lunch since it’s right next to a hospital.
