This place is decent Cajun restaurant I wouldn’t call the food spectacular but you get a lot of food you can’t get most places and prices are pretty good for what you get. It has a Good atmosphere and live music. This is probably my goto place for cajun.

Discovered this joint a couple years ago. The waitress is attentive and friendly. The food is delicious. The pricing isn’t bad at all, I like that they do half and fill orders as well. Their chocolate cake is pretty yummy, so is the crawfish fettuccine and my favorite the shrimp czarina.

I went here on a Friday night and it was really packed. It was kinda grimey but clean enough? We had to send our iced tea back, absolutely disgusting. I had the Shrimp fettuccine. It had a good flavor to it. The shrimp reminded me of salad shrimp but what can you expect for 10 bucks?. My friend ordered the Stuffed Zucchini and it was excellent. I noticed a lot of other people getting that too. We got Beignets for dessert. I really enjoyed these but it took 35 minutes to get them out. Service was spotty but was better as the restaurant cleared out. I will go back eventually.

I have frequented Jazz for one year now and have fallen in love with its unique character. This place offers great food(try the chicken strips) and has a full featured bar with excellent bartenders. The place has a very creole rustic atmosphere. I will always have a special place in my heart for Jazz.

I was in Lubbock, Tx. for one night. For supper, I wanted something different and three different people suggested JAZZ. It is located in a strip mall across from Texas Tech University. It is small, and the place was packed. Well worth the it ! I ordered the Chicken A La Mer with dirty rice, it was crazy good ! The flavor was there, and waitress kept my tea glass full ! If you are in Lubbock, do yourself a favor and eat at JAZZ!

Visited today for an early dinner and the food was excellent! Definitely recommend the chicken a la mer! Seating was a little crowded but other than that, no complaints

Big fan of Jazz. I’ve been here 3 times now, gotten gumbo, jambalaya, shrimp and chicken fettuccine. I love the hole in the wall atmosphere; definitely a welcome change from all the lubbock chains.

Was pretty full when entered and the staff was very attentive. I was wanting the blackened fish shown in the photos in this thread and was told it is a Friday special but they could make it. It was really blackened but good.

Great atmosphere and even better food! I ordered the shrimp creole with dirty rice. Great choice; spice and flavor perfect! Service was fast and attentive. Signed dollar bills on the wall add character. Would definitely eat here if visiting Lubbock in the future.

Jazz was great. It’s got a vibe that’s all it’s own and very much a Louisiana-style kitchen. It fills up quickly thanks to their charm, their food & drink, and their live music. Tip to make it a 5-star trip: order the beignets at the same time as your meal! They are made from scratch, so take approximately 20 minutes to receive after ordering them. We all know you shouldn’t pass up a good beignet(and these are good, might I add), so don’t hesitate: order before you’re asked if you want dessert! For dinner, I ordered the blackened shrimp po’ boy with hush puppies and their spicy creole, tomato-based sauce on the side. It was an awesome sandwich that I would definitely order again. Service was good and the vibe was great — try it out!

The rice in the gumbo was hard. The blackened catfish was burned. The waitress apparently forgot about me. I like this place but the little things matter. Edit They comped my meal because I complained about it being burned so that’s worth something.

Excellent food, I had the blackened steak Dianne and catfish nuggets. The blackened seasoning was a little salty from maybe too much imo but otherwise no complaints!

Cajun food in Lubbock! YESPLEASE!!! This is a hole in the wall place that still feels clean. The interior is so fun. All of the walls have dollar bills with drawings on them hung up and a crazy amount of neon signs. It is a smaller restaurant, but there always seems to be a spot to sit. I used to go every Thursday in college because they have live jazz music. They still have this on Thursdays… life is just a little bit more busy so I don’t make it out every time. It is always a good time to watch the live music. It is fun cajun New Orleans music. Saxophone solos and catchy drum beats. You already have enough good reasons to go, but I will proceed to give you a few more ;) Their food is unlike any other food I have ever had. It is always so hot and has the perfect amount of cajun flare. Two of my favorites are the Chicken a la Mer and the Cajun Stir Fry. The Chicken a la Mer comes with a creamy sauce with crawfish and shrimp in it over a TWO fried chicken breast. It comes with rice and cajun veggies. THEIRCAJUNVEGGIESARESOADDICTIVE. The Cajun stir fry is divine. It is loaded with the veggies, your choice of meat and the dirty cajun rice. It is a nice middle of the road price for the menu too. Their blackened fish is always a great option too. I haven’t had anything I didn’t like on their menu and have had over 20 things. This is a big lubbock win. A HUGELUBBOCKGEM.

Great food. Not true Cajun but a real good close. Yum. If you are ever going to n Lubbock, you need to stop in. Shrimp Diane is 12.99. Poppy is 8.00. You get fresh bread while you wait. They play some jazz it’s a mix.

Not sure what happened with last couple of reviews. My family went last night, it was awesome. They treated my grandkids great. The waitress was great. As for the food, very good. I started with a cup of gumbo… small but good. My granddaughter had there cheeseburger and said is was good. Grandson had popcorn shimp and fries… My wife had crero pasta we loved it. I ordered crawfish Poboy is was one of the best I have had.

I have been going to Jazz since i moved to Lubbock in 2013 and it has gone down hill! The dinning experience sucks but the food is amazing, and this is why I’m giving it two stars instead of one. Three weeks ago a couple of friends and I went to Jazz, and I had to the worst customer service experience. I waited 5 minutes for my server to bring me silverware, and by the time i was able to enjoy my food it was super cold. As soon as we were done eating I asked for our check– several minutes passed and I started to look for my server and she was making our with her boyfriend by the bathrooms! I couldn’t believe this, i honestly thought we were being recorded for a reality tv show! I gave Jazz another chance a week after and it was just as bad. One of my friends accidentally bumped another gentleman at another table and it upset him. Well guess who was stirring up the pot, whispering and making gestures about the incident with the guy… it was that shitty server from the week before! Shes disgusting, and I’m sure i am not the only one who has noticed that the service is no longer how it used to be.

In the past 20+ years that I have dined here(this was the only cajun place in existence) it has managed to go from great to a dirty trashy sports bar. Happy hour I missed by 60 seconds, duh. The bulk of patrons did not appear to be over 21, conversation impossible, the wait staff had to be asked to wait on us. Not a family friendly place, actually not a friendly place! Greasy zukes and shrooms, heavily battered and a total insult to veggies. Fake cajun. The crawfish dinner consisted of mystery food drenched in batter, we tried to find a crawfish and did not succeed, batter must have slipped off the appetizer deep fryer, the catfish dinner meh. No jazz here. NOLA not. The bakery next door might have been the better choice. Mac said it best, …in my rear view mirror.
